Dai Yan shot back, "Do you have the ability to compete with me in grades? Can you even win?"

Dai Yan began to curse wildly, "Who asked for your opinion? Go die!"
At this point, Wang Xinyue wasn't going to let Dai Yan off easily. Despite being a girl, she was fiercely loyal. Although she hadn't interacted much with Chen Yi before, after becoming friends with Lin Menghan, she had received quite a bit of help from Chen Yi.
So she joined the fray and started hurling insults at Dai Yan. They were harsh but satisfying.

Dai Yan continued with examples, "Aren't you always so close to her? Or am I misunderstanding something between you two?"
Chen Yi was furious. "I treat her like a sister!"
Wang Xinyue quickly chimed in to bolster their stance. "Exactly! She and Lin Menghan are perfectly clear about their relationship. Xu Nancheng hasn't said anything; who are you to meddle?"
Oh no, now Xu Nancheng couldn't just sit back and relax either. Dai Yan seized the opportunity. "That idiot thinks he's so great just because his grades are slightly better? Even when his buddy gets cheated on, he still wants to say thank you."
They cursed for what felt like an eternity, and as Chen Yi was about to type another message, he realized he had been muted in the group chat.
It was Xu Dong who had done it; he had been woken up by the barrage of notifications late at night. Seeing all the foul language directed at his friends made him want to join in too, but as the class monitor, he could only step in and mute everyone.
He then posted in the group chat: "From now on, no more cursing at each other in here. If this keeps up, I'll report it! Let's see if you're tougher than the teacher's ruler!"
Chen Yi quickly messaged Xu Dong privately. "Hey man, are you sick? I haven't even finished cursing yet!"
Xu Dong felt a headache coming on and rubbed his forehead for a while before replying, "Yi Ge, this is our class group chat. If you have something to say, do it privately. Who are you trying to impress by making a scene? You're just making yourself look foolish."
Seeing Xu Dong's message made Chen Yi realize there might be some truth to it; he couldn't get angry anymore and simply replied, "Fine, I'll calm down."
He lay back on his bed and slowly tried to cool off.
Meanwhile, Xu Nancheng and Lin Menghan were asleep. One account was offline and couldn't see the chaos; the other had silenced notifications while sleeping.
It wasn't until early the next morning that Lin Zhen and Xu Wenzhao still hadn't woken up. Lin Menghan opened her eyes and checked her phone only to see a red notification in the class group chat. She instantly became alert and clicked on the messages.
She was stunned—was this a world war she had missed? And why was Xu Nancheng getting dragged into this mess?
She didn't want to be overly angry but felt wronged! The slap she took two days ago was one thing—she accepted that—but now being unfairly labeled as having an unclear relationship with Xu Nancheng was too much! Her feelings for him were genuine! And Xu Nancheng felt even more wronged; he hadn't participated in any of this chaos at all! If no one had told him about it, he would have never known he was being insulted too.
She hurriedly got up and knocked on Xu Nancheng's door. "Nancheng, wake up! There's something urgent!" Her tone was laced with anxiety.
As soon as Xu Nancheng heard his beloved Lin Menghan calling him, his brain, which had been in sleep mode, instantly booted up. He rolled out of bed and rushed to open the door. Seeing Lin Menghan standing there in her pajamas, he reached out to ruffle her fluffy, slightly messy hair, his voice gentle. "What's wrong, Lin Menghan? Why the rush?"
"Look at the group chat!" she said, turning her phone screen towards Xu Nancheng and handing it to him.
Seeing Lin Menghan so anxious, he didn’t dare to delay. He took the phone and started scrolling through the messages, growing angrier with each swipe.
That Dai Yan not only insulted Chen Yi and Wang Xinyue but also targeted Lin Menghan. To make matters worse, just two days ago, he had even crossed a line with Chen Yi and hit Lin Menghan. These were people he would never want to argue with.
Especially Lin Menghan; Xu Nancheng couldn’t stand the thought of her being hurt in any way. The fact that Dai Yan dared to hit or insult her truly infuriated him. He returned the phone to Lin Menghan, his fingers cracking from the tension.
"Nancheng! It’s not a big deal! Don’t get angry!" She didn’t want Xu Nancheng to get into fights or arguments; that would only make things worse, and she feared losing him.
"Lin Menghan, I’m sorry, but this time I won’t listen to you!" His tone was resolute, without a hint of hesitation. At that moment, he felt fearless. Anyone who dared to touch his precious Lin Menghan was nothing in his eyes.
Seeing Xu Nancheng’s eyes nearly bloodshot with anger left Lin Menghan at a loss for words.
