"Boss, what should we do with those people we just brought in?"
A young officer in a police uniform asked a man with striking features and neatly groomed eyebrows. The man frowned slightly, feeling that the situation was quite strange.
"Let's follow the procedure," he replied, his tone filled with impatience. The young officer, sensing his annoyance, hesitated and glanced at the people outside, unsure of what to do next.
Tang Mu Xuan caught a glimpse of the officer from the corner of his eye and sighed helplessly. "Go ahead, what is it?"
Lin Fengmian shifted his feet nervously and leaned closer to Tang Mu Xuan, whispering, "Qin Peng has someone backing him."
"Even if Qin Peng has someone backing him, we still have to follow the rules. What do you mean by that?" Tang Mu Xuan thought that there were procedures to follow even if someone had connections. They had just witnessed a group causing trouble with two young girls.
"It's Wang Yang. He doesn't want Qin Peng to have a record," Lin Fengmian explained.
Tang Mu Xuan felt frustrated at this blatant disregard for the law. "After doing something like this, why would he be afraid of having a record?"
Upon hearing Wang Yang's name, Tang Mu Xuan instinctively furrowed his brows, feeling as if he could crush a fly between them. Damn it, how does someone like him escape retribution? Tang Mu Xuan cursed under his breath.
Just as he was about to stand up, he saw the director respectfully leading a young man into the room. This man was familiar to him; he was the brother of one of the two girls.
"Mo, I’m truly sorry for alarming Miss Lan. We will handle this fairly," the director said. "This is Officer Tang Mu Xuan, who is in charge of Miss Lan and Miss Liu's case."
Chen He respectfully assured Mo Daowan of the situation and then turned to Tang Mu Xuan. "This is Miss Lan's brother; he has some information to share with you." He winked at Tang Mu Xuan, signaling him not to act foolishly.
Tang Mu Xuan had always disliked this kind of formality. Seeing his director behave this way made him instinctively think that Mo Daowan was similar to Wang Yang. He spoke curtly to Mo Daowan, "Please take a seat, Mr. Mo. I want to make it clear that I will handle Miss Lan's case fairly."
Tang Mu Xuan’s lips twitched slightly as he looked into Mo Daowan's eyes but couldn’t bring himself to say more.
The man before him had bright phoenix eyes and an aura of righteousness that felt refreshing. He seemed too polite to be overly direct.
Mo Daowan noticed this and teased, "Tang Mu Xuan, did you already know what I was going to say before I even spoke?"
Tang Mu Xuan fell silent, thinking to himself: Of course I know who you are! This is so annoying!
"Alright, enough teasing," Mo Daowan said. "I came here for one thing: this matter must be handled fairly, and we need to find out who is trying to cover for the perpetrator!"
With that, Mo Daowan turned and left without hesitation. He had said what he needed to say; now it was up to Tang Mu Xuan to understand.
Tang Mu Xuan quickly grasped the underlying message in Mo Daowan's words; his eyes lit up with realization. Did this mean he intended to intervene? Given the director's attitude towards him, he must be more formidable than Wang Yang. Mr. Mo, please don’t let me down!
Just moments ago, he had been wondering why such people never faced consequences—now it seemed karma was finally catching up with them. Qin Peng, just wait!
"A Yan! Come here!" Lan Ruo Yi called out as she looked at Liu Ru Yan slumped on the sofa, knowing she was about to fall asleep again. This situation was urgent; she couldn’t afford for her friend to doze off now.
Liu Ru Yan remained motionless, slumped on the sofa with her eyes closed. Lan Ruo Yi, seeing that she didn't move, took the initiative to walk over and collapsed opposite her. "Don't you think it's strange? We just mentioned that Sister Na disappeared around this time in her past life, and then she left! We're even being threatened to talk to the leader. I can't shake the feeling that everything is interconnected; it’s all too convoluted."
Lan Ruo Yi articulated her doubts clearly, contemplating a discussion with Liu Ru Yan. Liu Ru Yan spoke up directly, "Actually, it's quite simple. Our current problem is figuring out where Sister Na went, right?"
Liu Ru Yan opened her sparkling eyes, clear and devoid of any fatigue. Lan Ruo Yi nodded, "That is indeed the first question."
"The next question is about the red spots on Wang Liling's feet, right?" Liu Ru Yan continued. Before Lan Ruo Yi could respond, Liu Ru Yan interrupted her, "Have you considered that what’s on Wang Liling's feet might not be blood? Perhaps everything isn’t as complicated as we think!"
Listening to Liu Ru Yan's analysis, Lan Ruo Yi stared at her intently but still shook her head. "No way."
"You’re right. So let's analyze it. You first tell me what you think is off," Liu Ru Yan suggested, sensing that things were not as simple as they appeared.
"Do you remember what happened in the elevator? I mentioned that there was someone in Li Meng's office, and you said you didn't see anyone. Let’s think outside the box: why was Li Meng in a dark office? And what exactly was on Wang Liling's feet when she came out? Could it be a murder cover-up? But why would someone want to kill? Who was the victim?"
After finishing her thoughts, Lan Ruo Yi looked at Liu Ru Yan, who was methodically following Lan Ruo Yi's line of reasoning. Could it be that...
