As Liu Ru Yan recalled the voice she had heard during her fever, it struck her as youthful. Could it be that she had been kidnapped while suffering from a fever?
Lan Ruo Yi thought to herself, How useless can one be? If Liu Ru Yan knew what she was thinking, she would probably just punch her. But that was not the way to think.
After Li Meng left, she headed towards Si. As soon as she got into the car, she sensed someone else inside. Her instincts kicked in, but upon glancing at the rearview mirror and seeing who it was, she relaxed. A mysterious smile crept onto her lips, leaving the person behind her puzzled.
“What are you doing?” Li Meng asked as she began to adjust her appearance in the rearview mirror, making herself look more refined.
“Just wanted to see you,” Tian Luo replied, feeling a mix of annoyance and helplessness at being ignored by his woman.
“I don’t believe you!” Li Meng retorted, genuinely skeptical about Tian Luo’s good intentions. After all, why hadn’t he entered when Jiang Nan was around?
Tian Luo knew he wasn’t that kind-hearted; he had followed Jiang Nan here and witnessed their negotiation. He had also seen her dining alone. While he felt a pang of sympathy for her, he was more afraid. This woman was far too confident; she actually believed Jiang Nan would let her go.
“Did you come to warn me?” Li Meng speculated. She thought it more likely that Jiang Nan had sent him to deliver a warning rather than just to see her.
Tian Luo didn’t want to deny it but struggled to find the right words since their acquaintance stemmed from such matters.
“Come on, just tell me what he wants you to say. Stop with these pointless games!” Li Meng finished adjusting herself and fixed her sharp gaze on Tian Luo through the mirror.
“I really just wanted to see you; I mean no harm,” Tian Luo attempted to explain but then noticed something and raised his hands in surrender.
“Since you already know, I won’t hide it from you. Jiang Zong feels disappointed that after nurturing you for so long, you still betrayed him. However, if you turn back now, it’s not impossible for him to forgive you.”
As Tian Luo spoke, he pointed at his phone, urging Li Meng to take a look. Frowning, she saw the message from Tian Luo: You have a listening device in your bag.
A chill swept over Li Meng as she coldly scanned her backpack before looking back at Tian Luo, who was winking at her in an attempt to signal cooperation.
Though reluctant, she had no choice but to respond coldly, “Stop saying such things.”
Tian Luo stepped out of the car as instructed, warning Li Meng before she left, "Don't be ungrateful." From the rear of Li Meng's car, she heard a remark: "I always speak my mind. If it hurts you, please bear with it."
Tian Luo shook her head in resignation. To others, it might seem like a pity that such a talent had gone astray, but Tian Luo found Li Meng endearing.
On the other end of the listening device was Jiang Nan, who had tossed it into Li Meng's bag, thinking there was little to gain from this. After all, from the beginning, all he could hear was the sound of Li Meng chewing. He hadn't expected to catch Tian Luo's voice or her threat. This only made him trust Tian Luo more. Initially, he had wondered if Tian Luo had developed feelings for Li Meng, but now it seemed he had been overthinking it. There was likely no chance of that.
A slight smile appeared on Tian Luo's lips, though her eyes held a deep intensity as she glanced at the messages on her phone. It was clear who the listening device in Li Meng's bag belonged to.
After driving away, Li Meng casually parked next to a trash bin. With a twist of her wrist, she pulled out a small protruding object from her bag and examined it closely for a moment. The smile on her face didn't reach her eyes; with a hint of mockery, she tossed it into the trash and drove off.
Tian Luo remained in the parking lot, ignoring the messages on her phone as she opened Li Meng's chat interface.
Tian Luo: "Are you ignoring me?"
Li Meng: "When have I ever paid attention to you?"
After pondering for a moment, Tian Luo realized this was true; Li Meng had never really cared about her. It was always her who had pursued Li Meng, even during their first intimate encounter when Li Meng had been shamelessly forward.
Tian Luo: "Then I'll come find you."
Li Meng: "Do as you wish."
With a resigned sigh, Tian Luo put away her phone and headed towards the parking lot exit. She raised her hand to hail a cab, stating her destination before closing her eyes to rest, unaware of the driver's curious gaze.
"Huh? What does this mean?" Lan Ruo Yi genuinely didn't understand. What new trend was this?
"You don't know?" Liu Ru Yan was surprised that Lan Ruo Yi was unaware of such matters. How had they managed to bring her over without being detected?
Lan Ruo Yi shook her head in confusion, as if asking: How could I possibly know?
Indeed, she didn't know. They had never left Liu Ru Yan's side; could it be that she had misheard something? Lan Ruo Yi thought back to what had just happened; the three of them had never left Liu Ru Yan—how could there have been such sounds?
Liu Ru Yan: I apologize for starting to doubt you.
Liu Ru Yan never expected that Lan Ruo Yi and the others had never truly left her side. So, who was it that she heard speaking?
