"Ha, are you sure about that?"
Li Meng scoffed, casually raising her phone and reading the words displayed on the screen.
As she spoke, Tian Luo's face turned pale.
"Even now, you still claim that I was the one who held you?" Li Meng's body trembled with anger, her hands shaking.
Tian Luo wanted to comfort her but didn't know where to begin.
At this thought, Li Meng rubbed her temples in frustration; their relationship had been on a downward spiral ever since that incident.
Tian Luo had always been a dominant person, especially in that regard. Usually, he was quite assertive when it came to doing anything, let alone in their current situation.
Jiang Nan and Super Sister greeted others amicably before leaving.
What do you think Li Meng wanted to talk to them about?
After regaining her energy, Liu Ru Yan began to feel restless. Lan Ruo Yi was working when she suddenly heard this question and felt a bit helpless.
"Did you forget that Li Meng said she was leaving?"
"Oh, right," Liu Ru Yan replied absentmindedly, wanting to tease others out of boredom. She noticed Tian Luo heading back to Li Meng's office and pondered thoughtfully.
If she remembered correctly from last time, Tian Luo had been watching Li Meng closely.
That kid was handsome enough, but he really dared to think big.
"Miss Liu," Tang Mu Xuan said, "I apologize for the intrusion."
Liu Ru Yan raised an eyebrow in confusion. "What? You say you're interrupting but don't explain what it's about? How are we supposed to have a conversation?"
Tang Mu Xuan felt a bit awkward but knew he had to push through in this situation; someone was watching them after all.
"Your uncle might need you to come down to the police station for bail," he said.
Liu Ru Yan instantly stood up, her eyes wide with disbelief as she stared at her phone!
"Who? Who are you talking about?" Liu Xia Sui asked.
"What? What did you say? My uncle? Liu Yuchuan? The police station? Are you kidding me?"
Lan Ruo Yi looked up at Liu Ru Yan in confusion. "What happened?"
Hearing the commotion behind them, Zhang Baofeng and Bai Juan perked up, their eyes darting around, eager to catch what they were discussing.
"My uncle is in!" Liu Ru Yan said this in a hushed voice, but it was still overheard.
Zhang Baofeng and Bai Juan exchanged curious and puzzled glances.
Lan Ruo Yi was stunned, her face filled with surprise as she asked, "Your uncle? Liu Yuchuan? The police station? How can those words even go together? Besides, Mo Daowan said he’s the president."
"What does being a president mean? That means he can just wave his hand and the police have to work for him. Why would they arrest him? Have you ever seen a boss get arrested?"
Liu Ru Yan nodded vigorously, feeling equally perplexed. She glanced at the time; it was almost noon, and she still had to wait a bit longer. It would be troublesome not to take leave.
"You go ahead; I’ll cover for you!" Lan Ruo Yi said, giving Liu Ru Yan a knowing look. Liu Ru Yan felt deeply touched. "See! This is what sisterhood is about!"
Liu Ru Yan stealthily left, heading straight for the parking lot while dialing Tang Mu Xuan's number.
Thanks to her ability to shrink distances, she had a significant advantage as she sprinted.
Meanwhile, Lan Ruo Yi found it hard to focus on work now that Liu Ru Yan was gone. She wasn’t used to the days without her friend by her side, even though she had just left.
Li Meng watched Liu Ru Yan leave with a crouched posture, but she had no mood to care. Tian Luo was still standing in front of her. Li Meng tried her best to understand what Tian Luo meant, but her mind felt blank.
"What did you say?" Li Meng felt as if she had misheard; surely, her brain was playing tricks on her.
"I said, I can help you!" Tian Luo patiently repeated her thoughts, while Li Meng looked as if the sky had fallen.
"Don't try to deceive me. Once I've made up my mind, it won't change. You don't need to worry about me spilling our secret." Li Meng instinctively thought that Tian Luo was trying to coax her into revealing their relationship.
Tian Luo stubbornly stared at Li Meng, saying nothing and offering no explanations, just gazing intently at her. It wasn't until Li Meng felt a shiver run down her spine from the intensity of the stare that Tian Luo finally spoke: "I know you don't believe me, but I'll show you."
"Here we go again!" Li Meng thought. Every time Tian Luo made a mistake in their relationship, she would be the first to back down. Li Meng scoffed, "You don't need to provoke me. After all this time, I've grown up. Does it really matter whether I believe you or not?"
A flicker of disappointment crossed Tian Luo's eyes. "Tsk, it's not so easy to fool you anymore." But perhaps it was more fun this way; it wasn't like Chen Chao, who was utterly boring.
Tian Luo strode out of Li Meng's office, and once she was gone, Li Meng narrowed her eyes and sneered slightly. Did this person really think she would believe her? How ridiculous!
Meanwhile, Liu Ru Yan was anxiously sitting in the car, trying to reach Tang Mu Xuan with a phone call. Tang Mu Xuan already felt somewhat on edge; now it was even worse. She nervously tossed her phone away.
Tang Mu Xuan attempted several times to catch the phone, but it seemed to have a mind of its own as it bounced around erratically. Eventually, it landed in Lin Fengmian's hands. Tang Mu Xuan watched as she let go of her own phone and raised a hand to touch her nose while looking at Lin Fengmian.
"See? The phone came looking for you; just answer it."
Lin Fengmian replied, "Do you dare to say how you got here?"
