"Quickly call the driver. Never mind, you hold her and I'll drive," Liu Yuchuan said as he placed Liu Ru Yan into Mo Daowan's arms. Lan Ruo Yi hurriedly grabbed her phone and moved to Mo Daowan's side. Liu Yuchuan didn't keep them waiting long; he parked his black Bentley at the entrance. To ensure everyone recognized his car, he rolled down the window and called out to Lan Ruo Yi, "Get in." Mo Daowan, not daring to delay, took a seat in the back with Liu Ru Yan. Lan Ruo Yi wanted to sit in the back to care for Liu Ru Yan as well, but upon hearing Liu Yuchuan's words, she opted for the front passenger seat.
"What's this? Do you really see me as the driver?" Lan Ruo Yi remarked as she settled into the passenger seat. Throughout the ride, although Liu Yuchuan maintained a stoic expression, his reckless speeding revealed his inner turmoil to Lan Ruo Yi.
Meanwhile, Li Meng left her office for Wan Zheng Hutong, this time not accompanied by Chen Chao. The situation was similar, however, as Chen Chao had brought her parents along, forcing her to go. Li Meng was taken aback by their tactics and angrily slammed her hand on the steering wheel. With one hand free, she dialed a number. "Didn't you say you'd help me? I agreed."
Tian Luo was in his office, spinning a teacup in his hand when he received her call. He smiled and replied, "Alright." Taking a deep breath, Li Meng felt the pressure of being caught between two sides; she had to make a choice. It was a gamble now—she hoped Tian Luo would care about their past connection.
"Right now, I need you to protect my parents. If I really don't get another chance, there's a box under my bed with a card inside it. Give that card to them, erase their whereabouts, and send them away." Li Meng had always been protective of her family, and this time they had crossed her bottom line. She trusted that Tian Luo would ensure their safety.
"Understood," Tian Luo straightened up and pulled out another phone from his bag to issue instructions.
"Thank you," Li Meng felt reassured by his response and drove towards Wan Zheng Hutong with determination. She ran several red lights along the way and collided with another car just as she passed through one of them. Fortunately, there were guardrails nearby, so no one was seriously injured.
Xie Yichang felt incredibly unlucky; he had encountered an audacious robbery in the morning and now faced someone reckless enough to crash into him in the afternoon. "Can't you see it's a red light?!" Xie Yichang shouted in frustration before noticing Li Meng's bloodshot eyes and paused.
"I'm sorry, my bad," she replied quickly. "Here's my number; I'll cover your repair costs. Just contact me if there are any issues." Li Meng scribbled down her phone number for Xie Yichang and reached for a taxi to leave.
Xie Yichang wasn't unreasonable; seeing her clearly distressed made him curious rather than angry. When Li Meng noticed that he hadn't moved after she spoke, she looked up at him and was momentarily stunned by his striking appearance. If it weren't for his voice being distinctly male, she might have mistaken him for a beautiful woman. However, she held no disdain for those with unique preferences—everyone has their own sense of beauty.
She bowed slightly in gratitude towards Xie Yichang before hailing a taxi and departing, leaving him alone with the wreckage of his day.
When Tang Mu Xuan returned, he was surprised to see Xie Yichang again. What had happened this time? Did he come back seeking revenge? Confused, he glanced at Lin Fengmian, who shrugged and explained, "He got hit by someone who then left him waiting for the police."
"And then what? Traffic accidents aren't our responsibility," Tang Mu Xuan questioned further.
Lin Fengmian continued, "The traffic officer is an acquaintance; upon seeing Xie Ge's situation, he brought him back here saying he couldn't handle it."
Xie Yichang examined the phone number he had received but still couldn't understand what that person had been dealing with at that moment. His gaze locked onto one direction just as Tang Mu Xuan stood directly in front of him; whatever he was about to say got interrupted.
Tang Mu Xuan followed Xie Yichang's gaze and noticed Wang Yang's file carelessly laid out on Lin Fengmian's desk!
Tang Mu Xuan turned to Lin Fengmian with curiosity while Lin Fengmian expressed confusion over what was happening since he had been engrossed in studying a case when Xie Yichang was pulled in by colleagues.
Now at the desk, Xie Yichang picked up the file revealing a photo of Li Meng prominently displayed on it. He pointed at her picture and asked, "Who is this?"
Lin Fengmian and Tang Mu Xuan exchanged glances upon realizing it was Li Meng and casually replied, "Oh, that's Li Meng; she's involved in one of my cases."
"I saw her today; she's the one who hit me," Xie Yichang stated matter-of-factly.
Tang Mu Xuan froze while Lin Fengmian also looked taken aback, unsure how this connected back to Li Meng. At that moment, Xie Yichang discreetly compared her phone number with his own—it matched! Well then, at least she seemed trustworthy enough. He glanced back at both of them feeling annoyed; it seemed like they needed to think things through more carefully.
"She seemed quite anxious; something must be wrong."
