She seemed anxious, as if something urgent had happened. Xie Yichang never expected that after saying all this, they still hadn’t reacted.
In an instant, Lin Fengmian recalled something and quickly glanced at the documents. With trembling hands, he looked at Tang Mu Xuan and swallowed hard. “Do you remember? Previously, we mentioned that Wang Yang was seen with a couple at Wan Zheng Hu Tong?”
Tang Mu Xuan clearly remembered as well. “What do you mean?”
A few days ago, their people had been monitoring Wang Yang and discovered that he had taken a couple deep into a hotel at Wan Zheng Hu Tong.
Xie Yichang watched the two of them exchange words, feeling a bit bored. He wasn’t interested in this; he was more curious about who the man was that saved him in the morning. Who was that girl preparing for his uncle?
Suddenly changing the topic caught both of them off guard. “What on earth are you talking about?”
“Let’s discuss it later; we need to get going now.” Tang Mu Xuan picked up his coat and pulled Lin Fengmian along as they prepared to leave.
Feeling the seriousness of the situation, Lin Fengmian followed closely behind. Just as they stepped outside, someone trailed after them.
Tang Mu Xuan ignored it; after all, he had the authority to follow, so it didn’t matter. The two of them left without anyone else around since the director had previously ordered that no one else participate in this matter.
Thus, no one would follow them, allowing them to drive to Wan Zheng Hu Tong with peace of mind. They held onto a sliver of hope that Li Meng was not involved with that couple.
As they sped down the road, Xie Yichang furrowed his brow, recalling the scene of Li Meng’s car accident. “The car was reckless; family members were in tears,” he murmured.
Tang Mu Xuan paused for a moment, pretending not to hear but driving even more cautiously.
At that moment, his phone rang. Tang Mu Xuan handed his phone to Lin Fengmian. “Answer this for me.”
Lin Fengmian took the phone, feeling its heat in his hands. He saw that the caller ID displayed Liu Yuchuan’s name.
Tang Mu Xuan curiously wondered why Lin Fengmian hadn’t answered yet and briefly shifted his gaze toward him, filled with confusion.
Lin Fengmian spoke up, "Hello, Mr. Liu. I'm currently driving; is there something you need?"
Tang Mu Xuan fell silent but still allowed Lin Fengmian to take the call. The voice on the other end was polite, but the background noise suggested a bustling environment before it quieted down again.
"I have some people with me at Wan Zheng Hu Tong who might be able to help you," Tang Mu Xuan continued.
Lin Fengmian was taken aback for a moment, but then he recalled Tang Mu Xuan's identity and felt reassured.
"Is Liu Ru Yan's family there? Liu Ru Yan's family!"
"Here," came the response.
Upon hearing this voice, Tang Mu Xuan understood the source of the earlier noise. "Is Liu Ru Yan hospitalized? What happened?" Just after hanging up, he heard Xie Yichang's soft voice say, "It's that person!"
Tang Mu Xuan paused. He hadn’t thought of this matter until now, but since Xie Yichang brought it up, he decided to explain. "Do you remember Zhang Na?"
Xie Yichang nodded; he had personally conducted the autopsy on her. But what did she have to do with these two?
"Zhang Na is Miss Liu's supervisor. Li Meng is her colleague."
Xie Yichang fell silent. "My big mouth, always curious about everything."
"Alright, I don't want to know anymore." After saying this, he tightly shut his mouth and focused his gaze ahead, no longer inquiring further.
At Wan Zheng Hu Tong, Li Meng remarked, "You really came here by yourself! I can't believe you have the guts."
Li Meng smirked disdainfully. "Did you think my fate would be any different from yours? You're too naive; don’t forget how Zhang Na died."
Ming Zhu smiled lightly, pretending not to care, but inside she felt uneasy.
"You shouldn't talk about things that aren't real. When you decided to do this back then, you should have considered these consequences."
Ming Zhu hadn’t expected Li Meng to be so bold as to jump ship to a rival company, showing no concern for everything she had gained here.
Jiang Nan was furious. This person had taken their secrets away from the company, and Jiang Nan would not allow anyone to leave with their secrets intact.
Ming Zhu, thinking of this, felt a sense of calm wash over her. As long as she wasn’t a traitor, everything would be fine. She waved her hand, signaling for those behind her to take the couple away.
Li Meng watched the scene unfold with eyes filled with rage. The couple before them had gradually calmed down, and Ming Zhu spoke with a wicked smile.
"Li Meng, you really are foolish. You’ve already gained so much, yet you’re seeking your own demise."
"How highly they regarded you! We were all envious, yet in the end, it was you who severed your own path."
Li Meng thought of her own plans and forced herself to remain indifferent as she addressed Ming Zhu. "Who do you think I’m doing this for?"
Ming Zhu paused, confused. "Whoever it is has nothing to do with me."
Li Meng continued, "Have you thought about the future? Your children, your husband, your family—perhaps they’ll end up like me."
As she spoke, Li Meng laughed, a smile laced with sarcasm and a hint of satisfaction. She had sacrificed for these people, yet they were digging their own graves.
"Heh, I’ve already jumped into the pit; I only wanted to seek some benefits for you all. Yet each of you insists that it’s my problem."
