"Oh, that Wang Zong, what happened to him?" Liu Ru Yan pretended to remember after hearing Lan Ruo Yi's words.
He Ru recalled something and thought, there must be some truth to it, so she spoke up. "Wang Zong reported that you two were disrespectful to him. When he came to the company, you both just left work without receiving him."
He Ru felt a bit guilty saying this but then found it absurd. Could they really blame the two for this situation?
"Are you saying that we shouldn't have left work and should have stood there waiting for him to come in, treating him with utmost respect?" Sister He replied incredulously.
Liu Ru Yan admitted that sometimes her words could be harsh. "It's not like we did anything so disgusting," she said. "Is it any different from Wang Zong blaming us for not offering him tofu when he was about to hit a wall?"
"Cough, that's a bit harsh," He Ru choked on her own words.
This young girl would always be young and always speak harshly, wouldn't she?
"Yes, she did!"
"Sorry, Sister He, I got a bit carried away. We need to keep our cool; we can't let this escalate."
"Well then, let's leave it at that. Bye!" He Ru ultimately didn't clarify anything further.
She mainly felt it was too shameless; she knew Wang Yang well enough—he wasn't even a decent person. She really didn't want to dwell on such ridiculous reasoning.
Yet Jiang Nan and Yun Chao still looked unconvinced. "Ru Ru, what you did was wrong. Just say it honestly; why can't you admit it?"
He Ru could only nod in acknowledgment of her mistakes. "Damn it, why don't you say something?"
"Am I supposed to take the blame for this bad guy? Maybe in my next life!"
"Besides, don't you all know what kind of person he is? You treat him like treasure while he's just a pile of garbage expecting respect from us?"
"First, he should show some respect himself."
Disgusting! Ugh!
He Ru cursed silently in her heart and felt a bit envious of Li Meng; she was smart and lucky.
Jiang Nan and Yun Chao looked at He Ru, who wore an expression of agreement, and couldn't help but feel that she was still too young for this role. A supervisor shouldn't be like this.
As He Ru stepped out of the headquarters' office, the suffocating feeling she had just moments before vanished. Breathing in the fresh air, she felt that life was still quite beautiful.
After He Ru left, Qin Peng emerged from the office partition.
"Jiang Zong, I’ll definitely persuade my brother-in-law when I go back. I really appreciate you for getting him out this time. It's a pity we didn't catch Li Meng," Qin Peng expressed his gratitude to Jiang Nan and shared his heartfelt feelings.
Jiang Nan enjoyed this flattery; he liked receiving compliments from others. After all, he was someone who wasn’t particularly impressive but aspired to be like his father. There was no doubt that Jiang Nan's father was formidable; he had been raised with the understanding that his father wanted to control him too much, which led him to act out in certain ways. Yet, his father never blamed him and even helped him.
Once Qin Peng left, he hurriedly shared the news with Wang Yang. Wang Yang was set to stay in detention for a week, but Qin Peng managed to get him released first.
"Brother-in-law, I just went to see Jiang Zong," Qin Peng excitedly shared the news with Wang Yang.
To his surprise, Wang Yang frowned and asked, "Why did you go see her?"
Clearly, Qin Peng was unaware of the conflict between Wang Yang and Jiang Nan. Even if he knew, he would have said, "There are no permanent enemies, only permanent interests."
"Brother-in-law, you’re saying that as if you’re not grateful for getting me out," Qin Peng replied.
Wang Yang then recalled that it was indeed Jiang Nan who had helped him out. "What else happened?" he asked curiously as he noticed Qin Peng seemed quite pleased.
"You don’t know what happened? Jiang Zong deducted some resources from Lan Ruo Yi and Liu Ru Yan," Qin Peng said gleefully.
"Huh? Why is that?" Wang Yang knew how much everyone cared about their resources but couldn’t figure out the reason behind it.
"Oh, Jiang Zong said it was because of you," Qin Peng revealed candidly.
Wang Yang chuckled at first but then realized something was off; this Jiang Nan was truly cunning—using him as a shield at this moment?
Seeing how excited Qin Peng was, he decided not to mention anything further. "Remember to tell your sister that I'm on a business trip when you go back. Tell her not to worry."
"Hey, don't worry, brother-in-law, I've got your back." Qin Peng knew that this was something he couldn't tell Qin Ling; otherwise, they would both be in trouble.
Qin Ling didn't want Wang Yang to get involved with Jiang Nan. She had always thought of Jiang Nan as not quite human, especially with someone like Yun Chao around, who had a habit of suppressing others.
What a peculiar family. When Qin Peng told Qin Ling about this matter, she immediately sensed that something must have happened, even though nothing had been actively initiated.
They chose to pretend they were unaware of it all, and Qin Ling was quite at peace with that. She had always known that Qin Peng was also working with Wang Yang against Jiang Nan, and she simply turned a blind eye to it.
After Qin Peng left, she took out a phone from her drawer and dialed a number. "Hello, boss, is Wang Yang not around?"
Qin Ling's expression changed when she heard the response from the other end, but she quickly regained her composure.
