"You finally woke up!" Liu Yuchuan sighed in relief.
Looking at the time, she realized that if they didn't wake up soon, she might have to call in for them.
Lan Ruo Yi and Liu Ru Yan were still in a daze. When she first saw them, she wanted to drag them downstairs. But then she found herself being held back.
"There's been an earthquake! Don't pull me! Yi Yi, let's go!" Liu Ru Yan exclaimed as she tried to pull Lan Ruo Yi downstairs.
Lan Ruo Yi cooperatively reached out her hand.
"What are you talking about? What earthquake? Where did it happen?!" Liu Yuchuan demanded, confused by Liu Ru Yan's words.
What was Liu Ru Yan saying? Why couldn't she understand?
Liu Yuchuan looked helplessly at Mo Daowan, who also wore a puzzled expression.
"What? There's no earthquake???" Liu Ru Yan was starting to panic. What was that thumping sound she heard earlier?
"What?" Lan Ruo Yi stared blankly at them, her eyes vacant.
The two pairs of lifeless eyes stared back at them, and both felt a chill run down their spines.
"Calm down for a moment," Liu Yuchuan urged, worried that if she didn't act quickly, things would spiral out of control.
"Can you please explain clearly?" Liu Ru Yan complained. She had woken up early and was already tired; now this sudden chaos was too much!
"If you two want us dead, we might as well just go die right now!" Lan Ruo Yi chimed in.
Mo Daowan and Liu Yuchuan were taken aback by the severity of the situation. "No, no, no! It's just that you two are going to be late for work!"
Liu Yuchuan quickly interjected. Watching the time slip away faster made her anxious. As a boss herself, she had work to do; although she didn’t have to adhere to their schedule, she had never been late before.
Mo Daowan felt differently; his job was quite flexible as long as he logged enough hours.
Suddenly, Liu Ru Yan and Lan Ruo Yi's eyes widened in realization: "Oh no! We forgot we have to go to work!!"
What followed was a whirlwind of speed and urgency that neither of them had ever imagined before.
The two girls were able to finish washing up and changing clothes in just a few minutes, and they even managed to do their makeup and style their hair within that time.
When they stood in front of Liu Yuchuan after those few minutes, their expressions were filled with disbelief. What had those hours of waiting meant before? Were they just laughing at it?
"Cough, let's go. I'll give you a ride!" Mo Daowan quickly spoke up, showing some awareness of the situation.
Liu Ru Yan smiled at Mo Daowan's thoughtfulness and then shot a glare at Liu Yuchuan. "Brother, it's still you! Unlike my uncle, hum!" After saying this, she strutted off like a victorious champion.
With her head held high, she walked towards Mo Daowan's car, and he promptly opened the door for them, displaying his good manners.
Lan Ruo Yi watched Mo Daowan warily but relaxed once she confirmed he wasn't making any suspicious moves.
On the way, the two girls checked their reflections in the mirror to ensure their makeup was flawless. They soon realized they had arrived at their destination.
Quickly pulling out their phones to check the app DingTalk, they saw it was the last minute to clock in. They opened the location on their phones and marked their attendance.
"Wow, we’re not late! We’re so lucky!" They exchanged a joyful high-five, their eyes filled with relief.
Mo Daowan looked at the two girls in the back seat and smiled gently.
Lan Ruo Yi was particularly happy about not being late, so she turned to Mo Daowan with a bright expression. "Thank you, brother! You’re amazing!!! We didn’t arrive late at all; having you is our blessing!"
Her words were sincere, even though she felt their actions might have been a bit presumptuous. After all, they had almost been late due to sleeping too comfortably the night before.
It was so cold outside that it was easy to feel drowsy in the warmth of home.
"Don’t mention it! Just don’t look at us with those vacant eyes in the morning," Mo Daowan joked lightly.
He wasn’t wrong; both girls had indeed looked dazed that morning, making it seem as if they had regained their memories. It was quite unsettling.
"Hehe!" The two girls laughed awkwardly and said nothing more; after all, it was indeed their fault that morning.
They were sleeping so soundly that they couldn't be roused. Before entering the Cold Palace, they had to remain vigilant at all times, preparing to follow their master as soon as dawn broke.
Once they arrived at the Cold Palace, although there weren't many people, each one had committed a mistake that led them there, making the two even more cautious. In the beginning, they were quite scared in this new environment and found it hard to fall asleep.
Gradually, they realized that this place was not as dangerous as before, where one could lose their life at any moment. They slowly relaxed their guard, and even when someone knocked on the door, they remained deep in slumber.
After bidding farewell to Mo Daowan, the two made their way towards Si Li. Just moments before, they had stepped out of a luxury car, and this scene had caught the attention of onlookers.
Curious about their situation, others leaned against the windows and were taken by surprise at what they saw. "Wow, a Bentley! Are they rich ladies?" This exclamation came from Dong Li.
At the same time, confusion arose—if they were indeed wealthy, why would they care about such trivial amounts? "Look out! The Young Ladies have arrived; everyone clear the way!"
Before Dong Li could finish her thoughts, Wang Liling shouted out, leaving the two standing awkwardly in place, frozen and unsure of what to do next.
