"Miss, everyone step aside!"
Hearing such an awkward exclamation, Liu Ru Yan and Lan Ruo Yi stood there in embarrassment. They were at a loss—should they leave or stay?
"Is that Ling Jie?" Lan Ruo Yi asked, puzzled. Who was she calling out to? Should they make way for the Miss?
"The Miss has come to work; I’m here to pay my respects!" Wang Liling said, squatting slightly while clasping her hands together.
Liu Ru Yan couldn't help but speak up, "Ling Jie, have you lost your mind? What Miss? Where is there a Miss?"
As they spoke, the two turned to look behind them. The Miss wasn’t there, but someone else had appeared.
Jiang Nan hadn’t expected to witness such a shocking scene so early in the morning; he found it hard to accept that this was one of his employees.
"What are you all doing?" he asked hesitantly.
At that moment, Wang Liling quickly responded, showcasing her administrative prowess. "Jiang Zong, isn’t the annual meeting coming up soon? We’re rehearsing! If another department wins, we’ll lose face! We need to catch them off guard; what do you think?"
She took a couple of steps toward Jiang Nan, her curiosity piqued as she looked at him eagerly.
Jiang Nan struggled to suppress the urge to twitch his mouth and pulled Wang Liling toward the stairway. He addressed the others, "You all head back first; we’ll prepare for the meeting shortly."
The others were eager to leave; it was just too awkward. Especially after witnessing Wang Liling's performance, they felt that her position was not something everyone could handle.
Wang Liling was bewildered as she was dragged toward the stairs. She quickly used her free hand to hug herself defensively and glared at Jiang Nan. "Jiang Zong, even if you’re handsome, I’m not that easy!"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Nan’s eyes widened in surprise. His mouth slowly opened as he stared at Wang Liling, loosening his grip and stepping back to maintain distance.
"Should I not be here?" A hesitant voice suddenly came from behind them.
Wang Liling turned around quickly and saw a cute and pretty girl standing there awkwardly.
Wang Liling exclaimed in delight, "Ah! Lin Su! You’re back???"
Lin Su had just been wondering if she had indeed witnessed her boss's infidelity; seeing the female lead made her feel it was impossible!
"Ling Jie!" Lin Su smiled brightly at Wang Liling while also glancing at Jiang Nan.
Jiang Nan was just about to explain that there was nothing between him and her when he heard Lin Su speak. He listened to their conversation and instinctively blocked out Wang Liling's earlier words.
"Li Ling, this comrade Lin Su is about to join our Yuegang family! Let’s order some milk tea for our colleagues later and give her a warm welcome," Jiang Nan said, then quickly left, heading towards the office. He felt he couldn't stay there any longer. The way he had pulled her away earlier felt off, as if he had been watched.
Now that he thought about it, he wondered if others shared Wang Liling's thoughts. That couldn't be the case; he was loyal to Yun Chao. If Yun Chao heard about this, would he even be able to go home? With that thought, he quickened his pace.
He wasn't wrong; after Jiang Nan had taken Wang Liling away, the others didn’t disperse immediately but stood behind them, watching the two depart.
"Tsk tsk tsk, this is something that shouldn't be discussed!" Zhu sighed, shaking his head.
"What does that mean?" Bai Juan asked, as clueless as ever about these matters. She had a natural understanding of certain things, but this was beyond her grasp.
Zhang Baofeng looked just as puzzled. "What’s going on here?"
"Does He Ru know about this? What about Yun Chao? Is Jiang Nan really starting to choose a consort now?"
"It's nothing important; it won't affect your work," Zhang Baofeng replied vaguely, unable to explain the situation further.
Bai Juan wisely chose not to ask more questions and obediently returned to her tasks.
Liu Ru Yan and Lan Ruo Yi exchanged shocked glances.
"You see? I told you things are different now! In the last life, Wang Liling wasn’t chosen at all!"
Lan Ruo Yi finally found something unusual and was overjoyed. This realization made her think that perhaps they wouldn’t have to go through the same ordeal as before. Maybe everything would turn out differently this time.
"Do you think he's so bold?" Liu Ru Yan felt differently; she sensed that it wasn’t that simple. Jiang Nan wasn’t someone who acted without thinking.
With a bold demeanor, she dragged Wang Liling towards the stairwell, leaving only two possibilities.
The first was to silence her permanently, but Wang Liling hadn't done anything recently that warranted such drastic measures, so that could be ruled out.
The second possibility was that something had happened that required Wang Liling's attention.
Lan Ruo Yi was merely trying to discern the differences; she wasn't without sense. After Liu Ru Yan's reminder, she quickly analyzed the situation.
"You’re right; I also lean towards the second option," Liu Ru Yan agreed, sensing that something indeed had occurred that necessitated Wang Liling's involvement.
But what exactly had happened?
