"Mom, it's fine. Yi Yi has met with Cheng, and she doesn't mind anymore. In fact, she seems quite happy about it," Mo Daowan said.
He was right; Lan Ruo Yi truly didn't seem to care anymore. She couldn't remember the details clearly, especially since she hadn't seen Xie Yichang or thought much about the matter.
"Is that so? That's good to hear. I was really worried that the two kids might end up drifting apart," Xie Yin admitted.
"Don't worry, Mom. I'm keeping an eye on things," Mo Daowan reassured her. He had already received numerous calls since dawn.
He simply didn't have the energy to continue after that. It was all a bit overwhelming.
Everyone kept asking how Lan Ruo Yi was doing and if she was well. From what he could see, she looked pretty good—eating well, sleeping well, and seemingly free from any worries.
The only issue seemed to be her getting too close to Liu Ru Yan, which made him feel a bit jealous. But this was something he couldn't voice; it was just a phone call asking about his feelings.
"Okay, I'm relieved. As long as everything is fine, buy Yi Yi whatever she likes!" Xie Yin advised, still feeling somewhat uneasy.
"Yes, you all need to take care of yourselves too," Mo Daowan said before hanging up. He loosened his tie and leaned back in his chair, lost in thought as he picked up his phone.
Meanwhile, Lan Ruo Yi sat in her office feeling bored when her phone vibrated. She opened it to find a transfer from Mo Daowan.
She widened her eyes in disbelief, confirming that she wasn't mistaken—it was indeed ten thousand.
"What’s this sudden transfer for?" she wondered aloud.
"Mo Ge? Is your phone infected? I can send it back!" she texted.
"You keep it," came his reply.
"Is this some unexpected affection?" she asked, puzzled.
"Have I not loved you enough before?" he countered.
Lan Ruo Yi placed her phone on the table and slid it over to Liu Ru Yan, still trying to process what just happened.
In front of Liu Ru Yan, the payment was opened with a click.
Then, pouting, she looked at Liu Ru Yan's wide-open eyes. "Brother, dear brother, do you still need a sister? I want one!"
Liu Ru Yan's expression completely changed; this brother was too generous, dropping thousands in one go. "My brother needs a romantic sister."
Lan Ruo Yi shot a sideways glance at the still daydreaming Liu Ru Yan, only to see her face fall.
"But it’s okay, what’s mine is yours," Lan Ruo Yi quickly added, and Liu Ru Yan gave her an appreciative look.
During this time, all their meals and living arrangements had been taken care of by Liu Ru Yan. So when Lan Ruo Yi first saw the money, her immediate reaction was to show it to Liu Ru Yan. Just then, her phone began to vibrate again;
Liu Ru Yan and Lan Ruo Yi both looked at the screen:
Xie Yichang has transferred money to you.
Aunt Liu Ruyan has transferred money to you.
Dear Mommy has transferred money to you.
Little Old Man has transferred money to you.
In short, it was a flurry of transfers that left them dazzled.
"Is your family really okay?" Liu Ru Yan swallowed hard, feeling as if she had stumbled into a scam. "I’m starting to doubt this; why does Mo only need to transfer money? What’s Xie Yichang doing all these years?"
Lan Ruo Yi felt something was off.
Lan Yue Liang: "Mo, did something happen at home?"
Mo Daowan: "What?"
Something happened at home? How come I didn’t know? Mo Daowan frowned at his phone, his serious expression suggesting he wanted to bore a hole through the screen with his gaze.
Lan Yue Liang: [Image] "Why is everyone transferring money to me?"
"Mo Daowan, are you showing off? Is it because boys aren't well-liked?"
"Just accept it. You called me earlier, probably worried that I would treat you poorly," Mo Daowan replied.
"Are you joking, brother?" Lan Yue Liang asked.
Lan Ruo Yi remained expressionless, surprised that Mo Daowan could even joke around. Nevertheless, she accepted the money.
Does this mean I'm benefiting from someone else's good fortune? Lan Ruo Yi felt a twinge of worry. She was indeed riding on the coattails of her original self and feared that the original had not been living well. However, compared to before, her life had improved tremendously. At least she had Liu Ru Yan by her side.
She could wake up naturally every day, live in a big house, and enjoy warm meals.
"You know, I've thought about this too. But we need to live well, right? If you don't want to spend your money, then use mine. My family is wealthy anyway," Liu Ru Yan said with a smile, genuinely unconcerned about adding another person to her household.
Lan Ruo Yi chuckled, "You really are something else!"
"It's fine; we're sisters. What do we have to be afraid of?"
Liu Ru Yan was right; their expenses weren't high. They had meals prepared for them and transportation arranged. They just liked to browse online for little trinkets to indulge their eyes.
Speaking of which, Liu Ru Yan remembered something she had recently purchased. "I bought a blind box from Guo Xi! I haven't opened it yet; let's check it out when we get back!"
Lan Ruo Yi nodded with a smile. The blind box seemed intriguing; she had never seen one before. She didn't know exactly what was inside but understood that it could either bring surprises or shocks. They found it quite entertaining and had collected quite a few items recently.
Not to mention that Guo Xi's products were particularly appealing to both of them.
"Don't worry; I'll save up and spend later," Lan Ruo Yi reassured her friend, though she couldn't help but wonder if they would even have the chance to enjoy it.
