The world seemed to be collapsing, but it was fine; I could hold it together.
"Are you sure?" Liu Ru Yan's voice cracked slightly.
"Absolutely," Lan Ruo Yi replied with firm conviction.
"Where did you get this?" Liu Ru Yan felt foolish for her previous actions.
"We'll talk about this later. You should head back first," Lan Ruo Yi said to Liu Ru Yan, while the last part was directed at Tu Nan. Tu Nan left without any response.
Miss Lan Ruo Yi, no matter how harmless she appeared, was still a member of the Lan Family, part of the boss's family.
"I thought we were dealing with a supernatural event, and you tell me there's a secret room in the office?" Liu Ru Yan still felt it was somewhat absurd.
The scene clearly depicted what happened after Wang Yang entered the office. They witnessed the paint next to Li Meng's desk and how Wang Yang accidentally kicked over the paint.
Wang Liling then came in to clean up, getting paint on her shoes, and they saw how Wang Yang left after turning off the lights.
"So the figure you saw was him before he left? I just didn't see him leave, right?" Liu Ru Yan took a deep breath and clarified the situation.
Lan Ruo Yi nodded at Liu Ru Yan, noticing her troubled expression. "So what was my frantic search for the truth all about?"
Liu Ru Yan felt a sense of loss; she had initially thought it was something mystical. "And you tell me there's a back door in the office? Is it really that plain and simple?"
"Is that impressive?" Lan Ruo Yi didn't know how to respond.
Liu Ru Yan felt like pinching herself; what on earth was happening? "Alright, alright, alright!"
"Thank you! How do I say it to my uncle?"
Liu Ru Yan suddenly brought up Lan Ruo Yi, who was still a bit taken aback.
"What?"
"About Xiao Xiao, of course! You haven't forgotten, have you?" Liu Ru Yan reminded her.
She couldn't possibly forget that they had just called Liu Yuchuan.
Speaking of this, Lan Ruo Yi had something to say: "You were quite intimidating just now."
Her expression had startled even herself.
"What? What do you mean?" Liu Ru Yan had no memory of what had just happened, so she was confused by the mention of it.
"You looked really cold just now, which was pretty scary," Lan Ruo Yi gestured, her face also turning serious.
Liu Ru Yan felt uneasy; could she admit that she had no memory of that moment?
She couldn't say that—Lan Ruo Yi would worry.
"Isn't that normal?" Liu Ru Yan chuckled awkwardly and quickly changed the subject. "Let's take a closer look at Lin Su tomorrow."
Although she intended to shift the topic, she also meant to observe Lin Su closely.
With how strange this company was, it was hard not to wonder why she suddenly joined.
"Yeah, we should let Tu Nan take Xiao Xiao to Lan Ruo Yi first," she thought, considering what to do next as she glanced at the still unconscious Xiao Xiao.
Liu Ru Yan spoke up: "I'll call my uncle."
In just half an hour, Liu Yuchuan received another call from Liu Ru Yan.
Staring at his phone screen in confusion, he felt a sense of urgency in her voice and hurriedly answered.
What followed was explosive news: "You need to call Liu; I know him. Help me deal with Xiao Xiao."
The words "Xiao Xiao" came out quickly and softly; if it weren't for Liu Yuchuan's keen hearing, he might have missed it entirely.
"What did you say? Xiao Xiao? Where are you?" Liu Yuchuan couldn't believe what he was hearing.
What was I just looking at with Mo Daowan? Did I misunderstand him again?
Alright, Liu Ru Yan, you did well.
Brother!
Take me away; I can't take it anymore!
But Liu Wumai couldn't hear his cries, yet Liu Ru Yan could.
She pulled the phone away from her ear. "What are you shouting about?"
Her voice rose as if that would cover up her own guilt.
"I'm not shouting at you! Xiao Xiao, why are you calling me? You're so scary!"
Liu Yuchuan stood up, holding his phone high and speaking loudly.
Liu Ru Yan realized she had just frightened someone, but what had she done?
What was going on?
Are you going to call or not? Liu Ru Yan didn’t want to discuss what had just happened; she directly asked Liu Yuchuan if he would let Liu handle it.
"Call, call, call!" Liu Yuchuan quickly agreed. He could tell this person didn’t want to admit their mistake, but what could he do? She was his niece.
"Okay." Liu Ru Yan hung up the phone and hurriedly took a few bites of food while Lan Ruo Yi sat beside her, observing Liu Ru Yan closely.
Something was off; this was very strange.
Liu Ru Yan only acted this way when she had done something wrong, but she hadn’t done anything yet—why was she feeling so guilty?
Was that earlier incident really enough to make her feel this way?
Was there something else she didn’t know about?
Liu Ru Yan anxiously looked up at Lan Ruo Yi. "Hurry and eat; didn’t you say you were treating today?"
"Yeah, go ahead and eat. I’m full." Lan Ruo Yi still felt something was off, so this meal wasn’t very enjoyable for her.
"You’re full?" Liu Ru Yan asked in disbelief. She hadn’t eaten much earlier—was she on a bird's diet?
What a day this has been!
