Just one word, I'll say it only once.
So stingy?
Shall we go? Liu Ru Yan decided maybe not to go after all; what kind of situation is this?
Well, you two are really clever!
Zhang Baofeng arrived, dressed in a suit and leather shoes, without a down jacket. He thought it wouldn't be cold at all.
Reality, however, slapped him hard in the face; it was freezing!
His shivering appearance made the other two laugh: hurry up and go inside.
Zhang Baofeng thought that going inside wouldn't help much either; this large open courtyard was covered with a layer of snow.
Bai Juan also sauntered over, wearing a flashy dress, but she had put on a long down jacket over it.
Dad, it's so cold!
Bai Juan looked like she wasn't too cold, but if you got close enough, you'd feel it wasn't that bad. She just said she was cold but wasn't actually shivering or pale.
You keep saying it's cold, but you don't look cold at all! Zhang Baofeng stuttered through his words but managed to finish what he wanted to say.
Unexpectedly, Bai Juan lifted her long skirt, revealing that she was wearing padded pants underneath, and Zhang Baofeng fell silent.
Liu Ru Yan and Lan Ruo Yi also fell silent.
You're still clever! Zhang Baofeng thought that perhaps he was the only one who hadn't figured it out.
Hehe, I've already thought it through; if it gets hot inside, I'll take off the padded pants. I'm wearing thermal leggings underneath; I can’t let myself get too hot or too cold.
Young man, there’s so much for you to learn.
Bai Juan continued to talk to herself, completely ignoring the expressions of the others, even telling Zhang Baofeng to learn from her.
Zhang Baofeng thought Bai Juan had lost her mind.
When the notice was sent out, no location was given; they said they wanted to surprise everyone.
Zhang Baofeng thought to himself, well, it’s probably just a surprise of the cold kind.
Is this really a surprise?
Hello, welcome!
At the entrance of the courtyard stood two handsome guys who smiled slightly at the four of them.
Not bad; this courtyard looks quite decent. They even have reception staff.
Liu Ru Yan felt as if she were strolling through the Grand View Garden, continuously expressing her thoughts.
"Wow, this is incredibly realistic!"
"Goodness, this one is a bit lacking."
"Tsk, not this one."
While Liu Ru Yan found some aspects to be lifelike, she also felt that others were overly artificial.
"Why is this one like this?"
Lan Ruo Yi, equally intrigued, inquired further.
Liu Ru Yan began her assessment: "Look at this pattern; the dragon's claw is so poorly crafted, and over here..." She pointed towards Chuihua Gate as she spoke.
Lan Ruo Yi didn’t have much knowledge about these details; she was more focused on the expressions of others around her, completely oblivious to the finer points.
As Liu Ru Yan continued to observe, she sensed that the atmosphere had shifted. It felt a bit tense. She casually glanced outside the wall.
"Do you feel like we might have walked into a trap?"
Lan Ruo Yi also sensed it; she noticed the subtle scrutinizing gazes of those around them.
"Welcome, ladies, to Wan Zheng Hu Tong Longyin Manor," Wang Yang strolled out leisurely, a smile on his face but a dangerous glint in his eyes.
It was only then that both women realized they had unknowingly positioned themselves right in the center of the courtyard. Bai Juan and Zhang Baofeng stood off to the side, expressionless as they watched the two of them.
Liu Ru Yan felt a mix of amusement and irritation. "Is this really how you invite guests?"
Lan Ruo Yi had already sensed that today felt eerily similar to a day from her past life; in fact, she had made some preparations for it. After all, even their attire reflected that.
"If I hadn’t done this, you two wouldn’t have come, would you?"
Liu Ru Yan turned to look at the people around her and grinned widely.
“How long have you all been prepared?”
Wang Yang stepped down the stairs slowly, responding, “We’ve always been ready.”
Curiosity piqued, I asked, “Why are you so fixated on the two of us?”
Liu Ru Yan feigned ignorance, though in truth, she knew nothing at all. “You should be grateful that you only lost your memories; that’s why you’re still alive today. But now, we don’t want to let you continue any longer.”
Wang Yang’s words were clear enough for them to understand. Liu Ru Yan recalled her own confusion during her unconsciousness—fragmented memories filled with children and bloodshed, now seemingly explained.
Lan Ruo Yi, however, couldn’t remember anything at all; she only had a voice in her head guiding her on what to do. “You say we can’t understand,” she said, trying to maintain her composure, though her tightly clenched hands betrayed her inner tension.
Liu Ru Yan stood beside her, observing the people before them. Her lips pressed together tightly as a sudden sense of relief washed over her. “Let’s just grab them and ask Yama if we don’t understand,” she suggested.
Wang Yang fixed a sharp gaze on the two of them and issued commands to those around him. Ming Zhu and others stood still as another group emerged from behind them. This new group wore pure black tactical gear and protective masks, drawing the attention of both women.
“What is this?” Liu Ru Yan raised an eyebrow in surprise at the sight. “Is this some kind of virus?”
But Wang Yang didn’t bother with explanations; he simply waved his hand, signaling for them to be captured.
Liu Ru Yan took a step back with her left foot, raising her hands defensively as Lan Ruo Yi mirrored her movements, standing back to back with her. The two prepared themselves against the crowd before them, while the others began to show signs of inexplicable tension.
