I looked at her and wondered what danger she could bring. This statement might sound a bit arrogant, but it was indeed true; I had that capability.
Bu Qing, unable to tolerate Tian Luo's confidence, curled his lip beside him and said, "Tsk, be careful not to bring trouble upon yourself."
Well then, let's see.
A cold glint flashed in Tian Luo's eyes, revealing his intentions toward Li Meng. "You keep an eye on them. If there's any danger, let me know."
With that, Tian Luo left. The master didn't look at Bu Qing, who also showed no reaction to his departure.
At this moment, Mo Wan had already arrived at the hospital room of the two.
As soon as he entered, he realized that Liu Ru Yan must have remembered something. Knowing this possibility filled his eyes with restrained affection.
Liu Ru Yan glanced at him, her gaze flickering slightly, but she was never one to shy away.
"Yi Yi, you step outside for a moment."
Lan Ruo Yi stood there in a daze, looking at Liu Ru Yan and then at Mo Wan. She wanted to say something but was stopped by Liu Ru Yan. "I know."
"Alright, if you know," Lan Ruo Yi said as she dragged her half-injured body out of the room, kindly closing the door behind her.
Once she sat down on a bench some distance from the door, she noticed that spring had already arrived.
She sat on the high-level corridor facing a park where a large tree had already begun to bloom. The grass below was sprouting as well; it had been a while since the New Year passed.
She thought about it.
"Why did you ask Yi Yi to go out?"
Mo Wan felt a bit nervous, fearing that Liu Ru Yan wanted to break up with him. What had all his waiting been for?
"I want to talk about us." Liu Ru Yan didn’t see any problem with it, but Mo Wan's heart sank nonetheless.
"What do you want to say?" He tried to keep himself calm, but his clenched fists betrayed him, and Liu Ru Yan noticed.
Slowly, she got off the hospital bed and moved closer to Mo Wan, reaching out her pale hand to grasp his fist.
Mo Wan was momentarily stunned, but then a wave of joy washed over him. He sank into the sofa as Liu Ru Yan sat beside him, suppressing his excitement. He reached out and took her small hand, stealing several glances down at it.
"Can we finally have a proper talk now?" he thought to himself.
At that moment, Liu Ru Yan was remarkably gentle, completely different from the coldness she had displayed when she first woke up.
Mo Wan nodded slightly, maintaining his composure. "You speak."
He pondered whether it had been hard for her during this time, and whether he had been a burden. Yet, he couldn't quite recall if it had truly been difficult for him.
After taking a deep breath, Liu Ru Yan turned to Mo Wan with an apologetic look. She understood the pain of the one she loved so deeply, yet she felt a sense of sorrow for not remembering how much he had suffered.
Hearing her words, Mo Wan's heart tightened. He gripped her hand tighter, fighting the urge to pull her into his embrace. "No, it hasn't been hard at all. I'm just so happy to see you here."
Mo Wan spoke from the heart; as long as he wasn't deceiving himself, he had once wondered if Liu Ru Yan was lying to him. But he quickly dismissed that thought. She hadn’t taken anything from him; how could that be considered deceit?
Time and again, he had chased after news of her, only to be met with disappointment. Yet when he finally learned she was alive, all the hardships faded away in his mind. All that mattered was that she was still here.
Liu Ru Yan felt the pain in her hand but also sensed Mo Wan's love through his grip. She instinctively wrapped her arms around him.
Mo Wan froze, completely taken aback. Then, with his other arm gently encircling Liu Ru Yan, he buried his head into the crook of her neck, greedily inhaling her scent.
"Do you know, Yan Yan?" Mo Wan hesitated before speaking. Liu Ru Yan listened quietly, not interrupting him.
"I once thought the worst would be if you didn’t want me anymore and that you were just lying to me."
As he spoke, his head remained bowed, his lips brushing against her neck. Liu Ru Yan felt a ticklish sensation but didn’t push him away; instead, she quietly listened to his confession: "What if I really was lying to you?"
Her voice carried a teasing tone, and Mo Wan did not react to her words; he simply held Liu Ru Yan even tighter.
"I knew you would say that. But you haven't deceived me at all; how could it be a lie? You're just a little trickster now."
Later, I kept searching for news about you, and when I discovered that you had gone missing along with my sister, I knew something must have happened.
I understood a bit about my sister's situation, so I had some idea of what was going on, but I couldn't bring myself to believe it.
Mo Wan's expression was filled with helplessness, the kind that comes when one loves someone deeply yet feels utterly powerless. He didn't want to experience that.
Liu Ru Yan pressed her lips together and leaned fully into his embrace.
"Have you never thought about giving up?"
It seemed so difficult; how had he managed to hold on for so long?
"No, I won't give up. Besides, I've already come this far; I'm not willing to let go now that I'm so close to the truth."
"Really, it's just a little bit closer. Every time, I receive news about you all, but it's always just out of reach. Just a little bit!"
"Fortunately, I held on; otherwise, how could I still see you?"
Liu Ru Yan felt a warm sensation on her neck but did not push him away; instead, she held him tightly.
