Jon Delson's body instinctively straightened up as he looked at Jiang Chen, his eyes wide with disbelief. "You... you can let me live a few more years?" Jon Delson asked, both shocked and hopeful. The doctor had already given him an ultimatum, and he feared he wouldn't make it to this year's Christmas.
Hearing the implications in Jiang Chen's words, how could he not feel excited? "One year, two years, no problem. Ten years, even twenty years, wouldn't be difficult," Jiang Chen said, then suddenly paused.
For Jiang Chen, extending this old man's life by ten or twenty years was indeed not a big deal. After all, the lifespan of Earthlings is considered low in the universe. In the Xiu Xian World, due to Spiritual Energy, it's common for ordinary people to live over a hundred years, much like how Earthlings might live to fifty. When the Mountain and Sea Secret Realm opens and Earth's Spiritual Energy revives, the lifespan of Earthlings will increase as well; living to a hundred will become easy.
Upon hearing Jiang Chen's words, Delson's eyes sparkled with intense light—the light of survival. He nearly grabbed Jiang Chen's hand and exclaimed, "I don't want to die!"
In response to the old man's eager gaze, Jiang Chen added, "As long as you obediently listen."
"Obediently listen! As long as you can let me live ten more years, I am willing to become your servant and follow your orders," the old man quickly pledged his loyalty, momentarily forgetting about the Undying Dragon Clan. After all, compared to the Undying Dragon Clan, Jiang Chen was far more promising.
"Then take me to see the Undying Dragon Clan," Jiang Chen said again.
"Alright, alright." Although the old man still felt anxious inside, he couldn't afford to worry too much for his own survival. After all, if he couldn't extend his life, it would end this year anyway. He decided to trust Jiang Chen just this once—whether it was desperate measures or treating a dead horse as if it were alive; as long as there was a glimmer of hope, he would grasp it.
"Ronnie, go prepare the submarine," the old man commanded.
"But..." Master Ronnie hesitated.
"No buts. Go," the old man said firmly.
Master Ronnie swallowed his words and glanced at Jiang Chen before leaving.
In the hall, only Jiang Chen and the old man remained.
"Preparing the submarine will take some time. Mr. Jiang, I am now entrusting my life to you. As long as I can survive, I will do whatever you ask of me," the old man spoke again.
"Don't worry; your death doesn't benefit me. You living might still be useful for me. Letting you live a few more years is no trouble at all," Jiang Chen replied with a faint smile. It seems that fearing death is inherent in everyone; it truly is difficult to look past life and death.
About an hour later, Master Ronnie returned with news that the submarine was ready. The Undying Dragon Clan was located deep in the ocean; Delson had been down there once but had never dared to go back. However, this submarine had always been prepared; it just needed minor adjustments before diving.
Jiang Chen and Delson entered the submarine. It wasn't very large but could comfortably accommodate several people. Having briefly used Spiritual Energy to keep Delson alive earlier, he was now able to stand up.
Inside the submarine, besides Jiang Chen and the old man, there was Ronnie.
