Lin Jiao pulled her son and shouted loudly at the door, "Everyone, come and see! These heartless parents are trying to drive their own son to death for money, completely disregarding his life!"
Sister stood in front of me, saying, "You all should leave. It's shameless to beg for money and act so righteous about it."
My son stared at me with a look of disbelief. The way he looked at me was exactly like how he had once gazed at mother Lin when he betrayed me.
Sister softened a bit and seemed like she wanted to say something more. But Lin Jiao spoke first, "You are such a cruel woman; you don't deserve to be a mother."
Sister got angry. "Le An, it was you who threatened us with severing ties to marry her. Since you were so resolute back then, don’t regret it now. From now on, don’t come and disturb me and your mother."
Lin Jiao glared at Le An with disgust as things didn’t go the way she hoped. She slapped Le An across the face while cursing him as useless trash. As she continued to berate him, she turned to leave, demanding a divorce.
My son chased after her, kneeling on the ground and pleading desperately for her not to divorce him. I watched coldly and signaled Sister to close the door.
My son cried out in despair, occasionally cursing me and Sister. He claimed we were heartless for not helping him and that we didn’t deserve to be his parents.
Seeing that her brother had no hope of getting money, Lin Jiao's brother kicked him aside without a second thought. When my son tried to chase after them again, he was pinned down and beaten up. Neighbors gathered around while Lin Jiao and her daughter fanned the flames.
I took out my phone and called the police. "Hello, someone is being beaten up at my door; could you please come take a look?"
Soon, the police arrived and took both the the Lin Family and my son away. My son was the victim but didn’t want to pursue any charges in hopes of winning Lin Jiao back; in the end, he was only reprimanded and fined.
Lin Jiao repeatedly came back asking for money from my son but left empty-handed each time. On the day of the divorce, Lin Jiao’s family berated my son mercilessly, claiming he had wasted their time without bringing in a single penny.
It was then that my son truly saw through the the Lin Family's true colors. After the divorce, he returned home and knelt at our doorstep for an entire day and night.
Originally, I didn’t want to pay him any attention, but my sister couldn’t bear it and brought him into the house. He knelt before us, bowing his head in apology, claiming he had mistaken us and hurt both me and my sister's feelings. He admitted his mistakes.
My sister hurriedly helped him up and sat him on a chair, then rushed to prepare a meal for him. I told my son that I would buy him a two-bedroom apartment so he could live independently. He nodded in agreement without saying much more.
From that point on, he began working during the day and would come back to visit my sister and me every couple of days. Two years later, after I had saved enough money for both myself and my sister to live comfortably, I brought my son into the company, starting him off with small projects.
Gradually, he began to showcase his abilities within the company until I felt confident enough to step back. When I officially handed over the company to him, my sister and I set off to travel around the world.
Later, I heard that Lin Jiao had gotten involved with a wealthy heir. Her brother, oblivious to the consequences, was borrowing money under the guise of that rich kid’s name. When the heir found out, he had someone break her brother's legs, and Lin Jiao ended up with her face ruined by the heir's girlfriend.
But none of that concerned me. I sat on a beach chair with a juice in hand, watching a man approach Sister to strike up a conversation, wondering how old he might be.
