The hospital was bustling in the early morning, with medical staff moving in and out without a moment's pause, as this was the peak time for doctors to conduct rounds and administer IV treatments to patients.
The ward where Hua Feifan's father was located could be considered average for the hospital. Specialized doctors and nurses took turns checking on patients before starting any infusions. Hua Feifan noted that his father's condition was generally stable, and he even observed that his father's dark skin appeared slightly lighter than before.
His mother had grown accustomed to his father's bedridden state and had become less nagging than she used to be; instead, she had become much more resilient. She felt fortunate to have two sensible sons to share the burden with her, and she believed that her sons would help her husband recover, especially since Lu Fei Fan was on the verge of becoming a Fuser.
After helping his mother clean his father's body and feed him some liquid food, she encouraged Lu Fei Fan and his younger brother to attend to their own matters, assuring them that she could manage on her own at the hospital.
After enduring a long morning, Hua Jun Tang followed his older brother out of the hospital. They ran into Brother Liu, Director Wang, and Da Wen, who had come looking for him. The group brought along some items that Hua Jun Tang couldn't refuse, so he took everything back up to the ward before coming down again.
Lu Fei Fan suggested they find a restaurant for breakfast together. The modest eatery was not crowded, as most patrons were in a hurry to finish their meals and leave.
Lu Fei Fan patiently ordered two bowls of cold noodles, a specialty from their hometown that he hadn't had in a long time. Back when they were poor, his father often brought him and his brother there to eat, but he always watched as his brothers enjoyed their meals while he refrained from indulging himself.
Director Wang, Brother Liu, Da Wen, and Hua Jun Tang didn't seem particularly hungry either. However, since Lu Fei Fan had ordered breakfast, they decided not to let themselves go hungry.
As they ate together, laughter filled the air, and everyone began to relax.
After finishing their meal, the initial tension among them had eased considerably.
"Brother, what kind of job did you introduce us to yesterday?" Hua Jun Tang asked eagerly, unable to contain his curiosity any longer.
"Well," Lu Fei Fan paused for a moment, scanning the faces of those present who were all attentively waiting for him to continue. "A friend of mine has invested in a company that specializes in express delivery services. I was wondering if any of you would be interested in getting involved?"
Lu Fei Fan fabricated this story; he didn't want anyone to know it was actually his own venture. This way, he could prevent his brother and the others from having any misconceptions while also avoiding unnecessary explanations and complications.
Upon hearing Lu Fei Fan's proposal, several faces lit up with excitement at the prospect.
Lu Fei Fan briefly shared his ideas with everyone, and soon Brother Liu and Director Wang, both experienced in management, began to strategize and outline the framework for the company. As they discussed, the group sat at a large table, approaching lunchtime, yet no one felt like eating; they were all too excited to focus on their meal.
The preliminary plan for the company was taking shape, and it was decided that Brother Liu and Director Wang would handle the registration. Da Wen and Hua Fei Fan's Brother would be responsible for scouting nearby locations and assessing foot traffic. Once they returned, they would collectively decide where to establish their business.
This was a rough outline of their process, and with a clear goal in mind, everyone quickly got to work. However, Hua Jun Tang was specifically asked to stay back by Lu Fei Fan because there were some matters he wanted to discuss privately.
Da Wen, Brother Liu, and Director Wang busied themselves elsewhere; after all, it was perfectly reasonable for the two brothers to have a conversation without raising any suspicions among the others.
“Brother, what do you want to talk about?” Hua Jun Tang asked, sensing that his elder brother had something important to share.
“Well,” Lu Fei Fan began candidly, “I plan to invest one million for you to start your own business.”
“Ah?” Hua Jun Tang was taken aback. The sudden pressure weighed heavily on him. If it were someone else's investment, he might not feel as burdened by potential losses. But knowing that this money came from his brother made him feel immense pressure.
“Just go for it. I initially intended to give you three million, but I overspent on necessary equipment and can only give you one million now. Work hard; if it's not enough, I'll find a way to help you out,” Lu Fei Fan reassured him while patting his concerned younger brother on the back.
“Brother, does Mom know?” Hua Jun Tang suddenly asked.
“I'll tell her. As for Dad's medical expenses, we have enough funds for now, so don't worry too much. Just focus on your work; whether you succeed or not doesn't matter—consider it an opportunity to gain experience,” Lu Fei Fan comforted him. In truth, he wasn't entirely confident about how well his brother would fare in entrepreneurship, but he believed that spending one million for experience was worthwhile.
Moreover, Lu Fei Fan planned to have the shameless AI named Intelligent assist his brother behind the scenes. With this Fellow's level of Intelligence, managing such a company would be a piece of cake.
Hua Jun Tang took a deep breath and nodded, realizing he needed to plan carefully and work harder. He felt a pang of guilt and anxiety as he reflected on how little attention he had paid during the earlier discussions.
Noticing his brother's distress, Lu Fei Fan offered some encouraging words before letting him get back to work. Establishing a company required thorough planning and preparation; hitting the mark on the first try would increase their chances of success significantly.
Watching his brother dive into his tasks with renewed vigor filled Lu Fei Fan with pride. He hoped this endeavor would truly benefit him.
After arranging his younger brother's work, Lu Fei Fan turned his attention to his own matters. He took out the address he had copied down yesterday. It was still a bit far from here, and he needed to take a ferry to leave this city island.
Lu Fei Fan arrived at the congested Port Dock. In the waters of the Free Federation, the ferry was the cheapest and most crowded means of transportation between the various islands. Wealthy individuals naturally opted for aircraft or cruise ships, while this ferry was rudimentary, with some vessels even in disrepair, posing numerous dangers that could lead to sinking before reaching their destination.
The island Lu Fei Fan intended to visit was called Zha Kun Island, a rather strange name. He found this island on the map of the Free Federation's waters; it seemed to be a place that barely qualified as a third-tier location, with a population of only a few tens of thousands. The journey from Lu Fei Fan's current island would take about three hours by boat.
As he sat on the ferry, swaying and bumping about, the noisy atmosphere did not disturb him as he quietly sat in a corner, adjusting his Fu Mai Xi Shu. After several cycles, the Pulse Energy in his body flowed like a bubbling spring through his Meridians and cells, while those energy cells waiting to bloom continuously absorbed the purest energy as nourishment for new cell growth.
Three hours later, the ferry arrived at Zha Kun Island. Lu Fei Fan disembarked from the shabby dock, where local militia members were inspecting suspicious passersby. He asked them a few questions and was allowed to pass without being extorted for any fees or facing unnecessary difficulties.
"Zha Kun Island, Zha Kun City, Xianggang District, Pineapple Street No. 8a... Basement Level Five?"
What a peculiar address, Lu Fei Fan thought to himself. He began asking around, but people in the nearby market had never heard of it. After several inquiries, he finally found someone who had a vague idea of the location. That person informed him that it was situated in a remote old industrial area.
To obtain the armor known as Feather Spirit Armor, he had no choice but to head there.
After taking several wrong turns and asking multiple people for directions, Lu Fei Fan finally entered Xianggang District on Zha Kun Island. Here, dilapidated factories were everywhere, surrounded by overgrown weeds and rusted ruins.
Clearly, judging by the number of factory buildings here, this area once had a solid industrial foundation. But why had everything fallen into such disrepair?
Lu Fei Fan passed through several factories until he reached a three-story building. The first floor housed two shops: one was a repair shop filled with disorganized parts and tools, with oil stains on the floor. A fan above whirred noisily. The only advantage of being in the southern seas during late autumn was that one could still feel traces of summer's heat lingering in the air.
At that moment, there was no one in the shop. Lu Fei Fan stepped inside cautiously, avoiding the scattered tools on the floor. At the end of the shop were several computers displaying different lines of code; their processing speeds varied noticeably. Lu Fei Fan found himself intrigued by this technology.
"Can you understand it?" A voice interrupted him from behind.
Lu Fei Fan turned around to see a young man dressed in a white jumpsuit who appeared to be about his age. With tousled hair and some freckles on his face framed by black-rimmed glasses, he rolled up his sleeves and held a wrench in his right hand. There was a hint of wariness and displeasure towards Lu Fei Fan's presence.
“Of course, I only have a basic understanding. I'm not very familiar with the programming languages required for machine code,” Lu Fei Fan explained.
The young man nodded, his expression suggesting that he believed him. He then picked up a wrench and squatted down to tinker with a tire-like component.
“There’s no restroom you can use here,” the young man said, focusing on his work.
Lu Fei Fan smiled. He understood that the young man was subtly indicating that if he wasn’t looking for a restroom, he should leave. It was clear he didn’t like strangers intruding in this space.
“I’m not here to look for a restroom,” Lu Fei Fan said earnestly. “I’m here to do business.”
“What do you need repaired, or is there something you want me to help you with?” The young man’s tone was lazy, showing little interest as he continued to twist the wrench. His fair, refined hands worked on assembling and disassembling parts with a surprising efficiency, lacking any hint of delicacy or hesitation.
“I want the Yu Ling armor!” Lu Fei Fan stated directly.
Upon hearing the name, the young man paused for a moment, finally stopping his work. He casually grabbed a towel from the ground, stood up to wipe his hands, and tossed it aside with disdain as he glanced at Lu Fei Fan. He then turned and pulled down the gate outside.
“Follow me,” the young man said as he walked past Lu Fei Fan and entered the inner room.
