The wind howled under the bright sun, and time flowed swiftly by.
Beautiful moments are always silently taken away by the passage of time.
If time had a gear that allowed it to reverse, Lu Fei Fan might clearly see how the person he intended to help made their entrance.
Originally, the Training Ground, illuminated by distant headlights, was calm. Even though the sounds of gunfire echoed from three corners of the base, they could not breach this area heavily guarded by Lancer.
Because his true target was not those prisoners who had escaped and risen in rebellion; that was certainly an unexpected incident.
Indeed, like a whirlpool, no matter how large a stone is thrown in, the splashes it creates will soon be swallowed up.
The rebellious escapees would be the same; Lancer hardly regarded them, and what truly occupied his thoughts were the prey that had yet to fall into the trap.
On the Training Ground, 6 Berg, trapped between iron pillars and a Metal Net, ensnared by an invisible energy within a Cage, was already in a frenzy, repeatedly crashing against the Cage.
“Let’s begin,” Lancer commanded.
Immediately, the loudspeakers installed at the base crackled to life with announcements.
“Warriors of Skeleton Army, The Third Legion, cease your futile resistance and sacrifices! Your commander 6 Berg has violated military orders and is akin to treason!”
The broadcast echoed clearly throughout every corner of the base. Some bloodied warriors of the Skeleton Army did not believe this accusation.
“Bah! These pups are slandering our commander!”
“Brothers, don’t be fooled by them!”
"Yes, let's fight them!"
These few broadcasts were not enough to shake the resolve of those warriors with unwavering willpower. The soldiers who emerged from the Skeleton Legion were not easily swayed or deceived; such childish psychological warfare would not fool them.
However, the next content of the broadcast left some doubts lingering.
"Your superior, Berg, has been conducting inhumane chemical experiments in secret. Many civilians and officers have died tragically under his orders. Tang Kede can testify to this, and he has even conducted inhumane experiments on himself..."
"If you brothers don't believe it, you can come to the base's Training Ground to see for yourselves. We have locked your merciless superior in here..."
Immediately, the soldiers of the Skeleton Legion began to question.
"Is it true?"
"Tang Kede seems to indeed be involved in some experiments with Officer Berg."
"I don't know; anyone who asked about such secrets before would have been executed."
Seeing the confusion among the ranks, a Young Officer stepped forward.
"Brothers, don't trust them; it's definitely a trap!"
"Right, they must have set up a trap to lure us in."
"Bah, these people are truly despicable!"
Most of the warriors of the Skeleton Legion were still skeptical about the broadcast.
However, to increase its credibility, the voice of Tang Kede came through the transmission.
“Ahem, brothers, they are not wrong. Commander Six has indeed lost control… Aaaah!” Suddenly, strange howls echoed through the broadcast.
With Tang Kede's confirmation, the sound of gunfire gradually subsided.
Yet, there were still some who remained unconvinced. However, Lancer's target was not those stubborn members of the Skeleton Legion who refused to surrender.
If a few words could make the Skeleton Legion drop their weapons and willingly surrender, then their combat strength would not deserve a place in the Main Force Corps. That would be too disappointing for Lancer.
The broadcast switched back to the original speaker.
“Since not many brothers believe us, we have no choice but to execute your officers on the spot!” After that, a commanding voice rang out, “Law Enforcement Team! Positions!”
The sound of rifles being raised in unison crackled through the broadcast.
On the Training Ground, there was indeed a line of Law Enforcement Team members holding standard weapons aimed at the enemies in the Cage. A Lieutenant was preparing to issue the execution order.
But outside the base, a figure shot straight up into the air!
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—
Suddenly, guards that had been lying in wait in all four corners sprang into action and fired Energy Rockets at the airborne figure!
The slender figure surged upward like a rocket, burning with intensity.
But the Rocket Artillery seemed to have collided with an invisible energy wall.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The explosive flames and shockwaves illuminated the rushing silhouette, tearing away the Rain Cloak that concealed her identity, revealing long hair that danced in the air.
"Fire!" The Ground Enforcement Team and countless hidden firepoints began to shoot at the fragile figure in the sky.
Countless bullets converged into a web of light, soaring upward.
Wrapped in her delicate robe, she appeared almost divine. With a simple gesture, she summoned an oval Energy Shield around her, deflecting the barrage of bullets that struck it, creating sparks but leaving her unscathed.
Then, she brought her hands together and pulled them apart again, gathering a brilliant orb of light. As she soared gracefully, the glow illuminated her beautiful face. A faint scratch marred her cheek, yet her gaze was resolute!
"Not good!"
Many soldiers constructing the firepower on the ground recognized the imposing woman above and suddenly became aware of the danger.
But it was too late.
The energy within the expanding orb in her hands surged violently under her control.
"Ah!"
She let out a furious roar.
Boom.
The sphere of light exploded.
The frenzied energy within the sphere surged downward, wildly crashing toward the ground.
Boom, boom, boom—
The buildings on the ground were battered as if under cannon fire, shattering with loud bangs. Amidst the swirling dust, the ambushed forces cried out in agony.
Watching all of this from a distance, Lancer's expression changed in shock. He said solemnly, "Indeed, the most promising Fuser! Is this the power of the Top War General? Good, you haven't disappointed me; it was worth all the effort I put into waiting for you."
At that moment, Lu Fei Fan had already taken cover near a building, just a few dozen meters away from the front.
In that instant, seizing the opportunity, Shui Que dove down from mid-air, cutting through the rising dust and rushing toward the Cage that had emerged from the ground.
But amidst the dust cloud, bang!
A tremendous impact echoed.
Shui Que's figure was sent flying like a cannonball, bending over as he was propelled back.
As the dust began to settle, a Bronze Bald Man stood on the ground, wielding an iron rod as thick as a fist.
Shui Que hovered in mid-air, her gaze fixed on the figure standing with a staff on the ground.
"Is it you?"
"Yes, it's me." The person looked up at her and nodded.
Lu Fei Fan also recognized the figure on the ground!
"Niu Han!" Lu Fei Fan immediately identified him as the one who had previously assisted Ren Dongchuan in guarding this base.
"Why?" Shui Que asked coldly, her eyes locked onto him.
"I'm sorry, but we have an agreement with Mr. Lancer," Niu Han replied firmly.
Shui Que fell silent, clearly understanding that Niu Han had reached some sort of arrangement with Lancer.
At that moment, Ren Dongchuan also appeared beside Lancer.
"Colonel Lancer, I hope you still remember our agreement." Ren Dongchuan looked at the scene before him, feeling reluctant to watch a woman become the target of everyone’s ire, even if she was not an ordinary woman but a Top War General.
"Rest assured, once this matter is resolved, your promotion and reassignment orders will come swiftly," Lancer promised without even glancing at him.
Ren Dongchuan nodded and turned to leave; he did not want to witness what was about to unfold.
However, this brief moment was captured in Lu Fei Fan's sniper rifle scope from a distance. He aimed his sniper rifle at Lancer's head, his finger poised to pull the trigger, but then he hesitated and ultimately refrained.
Because he was currently concealing his presence, he had no absolute confidence in being able to kill Lancer. Lancer likely had some hidden trump card for self-preservation; if he could easily eliminate such a cunning individual, it would not be worthy of his shrewdness.
Lu Fei Fan turned his gun towards Niu Han on the ground. Niu Han seemed to sense that someone was aiming at him; however, he merely glanced over without showing any concern.
As expected, a powerful aura locked onto Lu Fei Fan.
Lu Fei Fan felt a chill run down his spine and dared not move recklessly.
"In that case, there’s nothing more to discuss," Shui Que said lightly, glancing at Niu Han on the ground and then at Lancer in the distant building.
Following that, she untied the Rain Cloak that wrapped around her, revealing her slender figure. Her shapely silhouette was accentuated by a dress resembling a Qipao.
What drew attention, however, was a crystal vial hanging around her neck. She picked up the vial, twisted off the cap, and slowly poured out water. Despite being no larger than a thumb, the vial released a continuous stream of water as if it were a faucet, cascading down and swirling around her.
Niu Han's expression turned to one of shock upon seeing this scene.
"Oh no!"
He stomped his foot and shot into the air like a cannonball, pouring all his Pulse Energy into his staff. He swung the staff fiercely towards Shui Que, who was gradually being enveloped by the flowing water.
But the water surrounding Shui Que surged like a living beast, coalescing into a massive fist that came crashing down towards Niu Han!
Bang!
A ripple of water spread through the air.
Niu Han crashed into the ground like a cannonball, creating a large crater with a loud bang.
He lay in the pit, gazing at the water curtain surrounding Shui Que, murmuring, "Is this the difference between a Special-Class General and a Top War General?"
"Bring it on!"
With a sudden shudder, he launched himself out of the pit once more. This time, his figure was enveloped in a faint glow, a manifestation of all his Pulse Energy concentrated into one strike—a full-force attack from a Special-Class General against a Top War General!
Shui Que, looking down at the ascending Niu Han from within the water curtain, let out a cold snort.
"Overestimating yourself!"
The water curtain that floated in mid-air transformed in an instant into a massive hammer, crashing down with tremendous force!
Boom!
Niu Han was once again sent crashing into a building, which collapsed significantly upon impact.
However, it seemed that the water sphere encasing Shui Que had also shifted slightly.
