“Wait a moment.” A loud female voice interrupted the command. 0

Otherwise, it would have been another bloody incident on the streets, but the one giving the order was a woman. 0

Dressed in a uniform and wearing a Military Police officer's hat, she made her entrance as a Lieutenant Colonel, though her beautiful face was mostly obscured by a pair of sunglasses. 0

Her appearance immediately elicited whistles and cheers from the mercenaries in the vehicle, who reacted like a group of excited animals. 0

She stood confidently, seemingly unfazed by the lewd stares directed at her slender figure. Her physique undoubtedly stirred desire in many; her proud bosom was accentuated by the fitted uniform shirt, and to make matters worse, the Free Federation had a tradition of female lieutenants wearing skirts. She happened to be wearing a summer skirt that perfectly hugged her curvy hips, and with long legs accentuated by high heels, she made those mercenaries' minds race with inappropriate thoughts, wishing to overpower and humiliate her to satisfy their baser instincts. However, she paid no mind to these lecherous men. First, she cast a cold glance around at everyone in the vehicle, then crossed her arms and addressed them. 0

“Gu Tong! If you know what’s good for you, get out of the car now and don’t drag innocent people down with you!” The woman shouted with a commanding voice. 0

Instantly, those inside the vehicle exchanged glances, filled with suspicion. 0

“Who is this Gu Tong?” 0

“Is it you, you bastard?” 0

“Damn it, we offended the Military Police and now we’re going to be dragged down too.” 0

Lu Fei Fan was also hiding nearby, observing. He noticed one person in the back who was similarly covered by a blanket that obscured his face. Lu Fei Fan realized he had almost forgotten about this person throughout their journey because he had remained silent in the corner and hadn’t interacted with anyone else. 0

This individual seemed suspicious; Lu Fei Fan noticed that he always kept one hand hidden beneath the blanket. 0

“Gu Tong, have you committed treason by colluding with rebels for personal gain? Are you too cowardly to stand up like a man?” The Military Police Lieutenant Colonel provoked again. 0

The vehicle fell silent at once; such an accusation was no joke. Anyone found colluding with rebels would be lucky to leave alive when faced with these Military Police. 0

Inside the vehicle, Lu Fei Fan continued to watch that man. When the man turned and noticed Lu Fei Fan staring at him, he also looked back. Slowly revealing something from beneath the blanket with his concealed hand, Lu Fei Fan realized it was the dark muzzle of a gun emerging from underneath. 0

“Everyone, get down!” Lu Fei Fan shouted. 0

Tat-tat-tat— 0

The man immediately raised his already unholstered submachine gun and began to spray bullets wildly. 0

The hail of bullets pierced through four or five unsuspecting individuals who had no idea what was happening. 0

As soon as the gunfire erupted, the long-suppressed Military Police opened fire, unleashing a barrage at the people in the vehicle, turning them into a mass of blood and chaos. 0

Lu Fei Fan dodged left and right until he reached the man who was wildly shooting. The man looked at Lu Fei Fan in disbelief, unable to comprehend how he could so easily evade his bullets. Before he could react, Lu Fei Fan delivered a powerful punch to his stomach, causing him to double over in pain. 0

He spewed out stomach acid and blood, flying backward to crash against the front of the car before collapsing to the ground. Lu Fei Fan pressed down on him as bullets ricocheted off the vehicle, clattering around them. He watched as those bouncing bullets struck the still-standing mercenaries, splattering blood everywhere as they fell with agonizing cries. 0

Outside, the Military Police concentrated their fire on the resisting mercenaries, taking them all down. Only when everyone in the vehicle lay motionless did they finally cease fire. 0

“Don’t shoot!” Lu Fei Fan shouted as he dragged the man outside the vehicle. 0

The Military Police immediately raised their weapons, aiming at him. 0

“I’m not Gu Tong,” Lu Fei Fan said, tossing the man like trash in front of the Military Police. “You’re looking for him, right?” 0

With that, Lu Fei Fan stood proudly, watching the Female Lieutenant. She looked up at this somewhat disheveled young man and waved her hand, signaling for the Military Police to take the man away. 0

However, just as two Military Police officers began to escort him, whoosh— 0

Bang! The prisoner suddenly erupted in a spray of blood, collapsing lifelessly to the ground. 0

The sound of a gunshot echoed in the distance. 0

Everyone was stunned. 0

The young officer holding the gun suddenly reacted, "Sniper!" 0

Whoosh— 0

Another sharp sound cut through the air. 0

The Female Lieutenant quickly turned around and saw a streak of light tearing through the air, heading straight for her face! 0

A figure lunged forward and pinned her down forcefully. 0

Bang! 0

The bullet exploded against a pillar, creating a large hole in the wall. 0

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh— 0

More sniper shots rang out, and those lying on the ground fell one after another. 0

The Female Lieutenant pushed Lu Fei Fan away with disgust. Her sunglasses had fallen off during the tumble, revealing her face clearly to him. However, she didn’t even glance at Lu Fei Fan. Instead, she turned and ripped a smoke grenade from the body of a fallen Military Police officer, tossing it away. 0

"Quick, smoke grenade!" 0

Immediately, the soldiers reacted and hurled the smoke grenade, enveloping the surroundings in a thick cloud that obscured everything from view. 0

As the smoke cleared, most of the people who had been waiting at the scene had disappeared. 0

Everyone had retreated from the street into the building. After a long while, when the gunfire finally subsided, only then did some Military Police dare to emerge from inside. 0

“Captain,” a young officer hurried over, raising his handgun, anxious that his superior might have been harmed. 0

The Lieutenant Colonel stood up, brushed off his clothes, and calmly surveyed the surroundings. 0

“Secure the area. Don’t let any unauthorized personnel take anyone away,” the Lieutenant Colonel commanded. 0

“Secure the area!” The male officer turned to issue orders. 0

“Captain…” The officer hesitated, noticing she was searching for something around her. 0

“What’s wrong, Captain?” he asked. 0

The female officer frowned, realizing that the person who had just saved her was no longer there. 0

“Nothing,” the Female Captain shook her head. “Xiao Chen, our capture operation has been compromised.” 0

“Captain, you’re our team’s…” The young officer named Xiao Chen glanced around at the Military Police diligently securing the scene, trying to identify anyone suspicious. 0

“Not sure yet, but it’s clear that they got wind of our plans and came to silence us,” the Lieutenant Colonel lamented. 0

“Those damned Rebels!” Xiao Chen gritted his teeth in frustration. 0

“You take them back for now,” she ordered wearily. 0

"Yes." Xiao Chen seemed to think of something else and turned back, looking uneasy. "Captain, let me send a few guards with you." 0

"No need. If they really want to kill me, having more guards won't make a difference." The Lieutenant Colonel waved his hand. "I have important matters to attend to and can't have anyone following me." 0

"Then... just be careful." 0

Xiao Chen wanted to persuade her further, but seeing her determination, he held his tongue and turned to seriously instruct his subordinates to clean up the scene. 0

The bodies were quickly loaded onto a truck by the Military Police and driven away. 0

Soon, aside from a few pools of blood, it was as if nothing had ever happened at the scene. In half an hour, specialized cleanup crews would arrive to tidy everything up. 0

The surrounding residents would continue living their lives as if nothing had occurred, unaffected by events that were beyond their reach. 0

In this chaotic and turbulent era, merely surviving was the greatest fortune; they had no time or energy to concern themselves with matters that did not involve them. 0

After the Military Police left, a striking figure emerged from a building next door. 0

Among the low-rise buildings, the alleys intertwined like a maze. 0

The energy lines of the buildings crisscrossed like a spider web. This woman walked with feline grace, as if she were a model strutting on a runway. Her elegant figure and fragrance left a stunning impression in the empty alley. 0

She navigated effortlessly through the maze of buildings, turning left and right until she arrived in front of a particular building after quite some time. 0

She paused, glanced around for anything unusual, then pushed the door open. 0

Inside, a strange odor lingered in the air. She frowned and carefully avoided the scattered bottles and various debris on the floor. In the living room, a television was on but displayed no image; a man sat with his back to her on the sofa, occasionally taking swigs from a bottle. 0

Ding. 0

She accidentally kicked a bottle. 0

A bald man, with a plump face, sat there. Upon hearing the noise, he turned around, but his expression was one of nervous fear, beads of sweat dotting his forehead. 0

“Xia Qi!” The man, reeking of alcohol, stumbled over in a panic. 0

“Big Dog, the information you gave me has leaked.” Xia Qi approached him, gun in hand, pressing it against his head. 0

The man was so frightened that he momentarily didn’t know how to respond. He lowered his head and trembled, mumbling incoherently, “That’s impossible; that’s not right.” 0

“I know the information was wrong, so it’s not your fault. But you need to help me find out who betrayed us,” Xia Qi said patiently as she looked at her informant. 0

The disheveled man shook his head and suddenly started to cry, pleading, “Xia Qi, please let me go. I really don’t know anything. Boohoo.” 0

“Big Dog, as long as you help me find out who leaked the information, I’ll arrange for you to leave here and settle in the Free Federation. No one will hunt you down there. If you’re worried, you can go to the Alliance Empire or Neutral Ground,” Xia Qi assured him slowly. 0

“No, they will kill me!” Big Dog shook his head. “I don’t want to die.” 0

“Big Dog, I’m helping you, but you need to help me too,” Xia Qi continued to persuade him. “Think about your wife and kids. If it weren’t for my protection, they would have been killed on the streets by now.” 0

Suddenly realizing something, Big Dog crawled over and clung to Xia Qi’s leg, looking up at her with trembling eyes. “Xia Qi, please don’t hurt my wife and kids. Don’t hurt them... It’s really them who forced me... ” He lowered his head and began to sob uncontrollably. 0

Initially disgusted by this man, Xia Qi felt as if she had been struck by lightning upon hearing his last words. She immediately kicked Big Dog away and turned to run out of the building. 0

Crash! Inside the house, Big Dog was throwing things around. Finally, there was a loud bang followed by a gunshot, and all sounds abruptly ceased. 0

Xia Qi couldn't care less about what the big dog in the back room was doing. Her heart raced as she suddenly bolted out of there. Just as she pushed the door open, a figure in a Black Mask appeared before her, brandishing a gleaming and terrifying Military Dagger, clearly lying in wait for her. 0

Seeing the panicked Xia Qi escape from the room, the Masked Assassin lunged forward. 0

Xia Qi raised her handgun and fired—bang, bang! 0

The assassin in the Black Mask was shot through, but as he fell, he revealed four or five more masked assassins hiding behind him. 0

They scattered and charged toward her. 0

She pulled the trigger again. 0

Bang, bang— 0

One bullet hit an assassin, sending him crashing down. She had no choice but to retreat into the building, but more Masked Assassins were leaping into the courtyard, rushing toward her. 0

She kept backing away, conserving her bullets. When her ammunition finally ran out, all the assassins surrounded her, brandishing their Military Daggers. 0

Desperate, Xia Qi tossed aside her empty handgun and pulled out a Folding Military Knife from her bag, gripping it in reverse and readying herself for a fight. 0
