The sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow on Xiaomei's face as she slowly opened her eyes, realizing she was lazily sprawled on her bed. Suddenly, the peaceful morning was interrupted by the ringing of her phone. Groggily, she reached for it and saw that it was her mother calling, a smile unconsciously spreading across her face.
"Hello, Mom?" Xiaomei asked sleepily.
"Xiaomei, I miss you," came the familiar and gentle voice from the other end of the line, instantly filling Xiaomei with warmth. Her mother always had this way about her; even when she didn’t fully understand Xiaomei’s choices, she still cared for her unconditionally.
"I miss you too, Mom." Xiaomei sat up, feeling a twinge of guilt for not having had much time to visit home lately due to her busy schedule.
"Come back soon; everything is fine at home, and your room is all tidied up," her mother said with an air of anticipation, as if conveying a deep sense of longing.
"Sure, I have some free time in the next few days," Xiaomei replied, warmth blooming in her heart. She thought of the familiar scenery at home and felt a flutter of excitement at the prospect of seeing her mother again.

Before long, Xiaomei packed her bags and set off on her journey home. The scenery outside the car window rushed by, as if she were gradually returning to that simple and beautiful time in her life. A few hours later, she finally arrived at her hometown. Seeing the familiar streets and that cozy little building made all her fatigue vanish in an instant.
"Mom, I'm back!" Xiaomei shouted as soon as she stepped through the door.
"Oh my goodness, Xiaomei! You’re finally back!" Her mother rushed out from the kitchen and excitedly embraced her. The laughter of the mother and daughter echoed throughout the small house.
"I really missed you!" Xiaomei felt overwhelmed with emotion as she basked in her mother's warm embrace. Despite often feeling lonely while striving out in the world, this warmth from home was always a source of solace for her soul.
"Hurry up! I made your favorite braised pork," her mother said, taking Xiaomei's hand as if to bring her entire world into this cozy home.
At the dining table, the two chatted and laughed, and for a moment, the pressure on Xiaomei regarding her future seemed to lift. Eating the dishes lovingly prepared by her mother, she felt an unusual sense of satisfaction, as if everything had returned to its original beauty.
"Mom, how have you been lately?" Xiaomei asked, trying to bridge the gap between them with casual conversation.
"I'm doing well, but the house is a bit messy. I tidied up your room," her mother replied with a smile. "By the way, Xiaomei, a few days ago I came across that USB drive you mentioned before; I think I put it away."
"What USB drive?" Xiaomei asked in surprise. She remembered mentioning the USB drive she needed to find but hadn’t expected her mother to keep an eye out for it.
"The one you said had some important files on it," her mother paused for a moment before continuing, "I was worried about the mess, so I put it in the cabinet for you."
Xiaomei's heart raced. Could that USB drive really contain what she needed? "Mom, could you bring it to me?" she asked eagerly.
"Of course! Let me go find it," her mother replied as she turned and headed to her room. Shortly after, she returned holding a small black USB drive, a smile on her face.
"I found it! Here, is this it?" Her mother handed the USB drive to Xiaomei, her eyes reflecting a hint of anticipation.
Xiaomei carefully took the USB drive, silently praying, "I hope this USB drive has what I need."
"Thank you, Mom! I'm going to check it right now," Xiaomei exclaimed excitedly as she quickly plugged the USB drive into her laptop.
