Lu Tianyang pinned Ye Ya down, looking at her from above. "Wife, please don’t be angry. I was wrong. Forgive me. You can punish me however you want. I'm begging you, just don’t ignore me."
"Ugh, let go of me, Lu Tianyang. Don't make me feel so disgusted," she replied, unsure if her feelings were anger or something else. In any case, she didn’t want to see this man anymore.
"I'm disgusting? Fine, Ye Ya, I'll show you just how disgusting I can be. I won’t let you go even if it kills me." His stubbornness only fueled her frustration, and Lu Tianyang felt truly enraged.
He held her down and kissed her. Ye Ya felt utterly repulsed and struggled fiercely against him.
After a while, Lu Tianyang released her, watching as she appeared panicked and disheveled, looking as if she had been forced into this situation—though it was nearly the same.
"Wife."
Ye Ya got up from the floor and slapped him hard across the face, wiping her mouth afterward. "Lu Tianyang, do you believe I’ll report you if you touch me again? Go ahead and try."
The muscles in her face were tense with anger as she refused to look at him any longer and walked straight into the bathroom.
When you feel repulsed by someone, Ye Ya thought that such behavior truly made her sick.
Lu Tianyang looked defeated. When Ye Ya emerged from the bathroom, she found him sitting on the sofa with a despondent expression. She wondered how much longer their marriage could last; it seemed wrong from the very beginning. Was it a matter of recognizing their mistakes or simply repeating them?
Did this life still hold any meaning? As Lu Tianyang watched Ye Ya come out, he approached her. "Wife, I’m sorry. I was wrong just now. I was afraid you would leave me." That’s why he wanted to do something to prove that she was still his.
"Lu Tianyang, I’m really tired," she said, unsure of what reason she had left to hold on. Was it for Chen Chen to grow up in a complete family? Beyond that, she could find no justification.
"I'm sorry." He had personally destroyed their happiness.
"Stop saying that. Let’s both take a moment to calm down. I don’t want to fight with you anymore." She didn’t want them to end up like enemies; after all, he was still Chen Chen's father.
Even if it truly cannot last until the end, she hoped that it wouldn’t end like this.
Lu Tianyang looked at her, resembling a snail that had been forcibly stripped of its shell. He wanted to reach out and embrace her, but he didn’t dare, fearing that he might hurt her again.
“Wife, I promise I won’t act like this again. I absolutely won’t divorce you. Put that thought out of your mind, and just rest well. I’ll sleep on the sofa.”
A man like him, who had to sleep on the sofa on his wedding night, was hard to come by. Yet, thinking back to how reckless he had been that day, he felt that her anger was entirely justified.
That night, Ye Ya also slept uneasily, her heart troubled. This marriage had not come easily; could she really just give it up?
She turned to look at the man sleeping beside her and couldn’t help but sigh softly. “Lu Tianyang, do you still love Fu Wan Jing? If you do, then where does that leave me and Chen Chen?”
Ye Ya had never felt so conflicted before—whether to move forward or retreat in this marriage was a torment for both her and Lu Tianyang.
The entire night passed without her sleeping well. When she got up the next morning, the dark circles under her eyes were quite noticeable, while Lu Tianyang seemed to have slept soundly.
“Wife, you look like you didn’t rest well. Why don’t you go back to sleep for a while?”
At this point, staying in bed would likely draw Du Huiru’s ire again. Besides, there was no need to waste so much time lying around.
In fact, as long as Lu Tianyang didn’t speak to her, Ye Ya realized she could go an entire day without saying a word in this house.
As they went downstairs, Du Huiru saw them and frowned slightly. “Now that you’re someone’s daughter-in-law, do you expect others to wait on you? When I married into the Lu Family, I was already up early preparing breakfast for everyone.”
Ye Ya didn’t know what to say. According to their agreement, she indeed should have risen early to prepare breakfast for the family. In reality, there were plenty of servants in the Lu Family who could handle breakfast without her help. But Ye Ya understood; Du Huiru just wanted to assert herself a little.
She had secretly registered her marriage with Lu Tianyang, and the Lu Family still resented her for it, believing she had seduced him into getting the marriage certificate.
“Mom, I’m sorry. I didn’t sleep well last night. I promise I’ll get up early tomorrow,” Ye Ya said, standing there like a traditional little wife from ancient times. She couldn’t understand how she had agreed to that arrangement in the first place. Back then, Lu Tianyang was not like this.
“Mom, it’s not like there’s no one else at home. Xiao Ya still has to take care of the child at night; please be understanding,” Lu Tianyang said. As soon as he finished speaking, Du Huiru became displeased. “Isn’t she a daughter-in-law of the Lu Family now? What did she promise when she came in? Your mother went through the same thing; why is she so precious now?”
“Forget it, let’s not argue with Mom. I’ll just get up early; it’s no big deal.” Normally, Ye Ya would have been up by now; it had become a habit for her. However, she realized that continuing to live peacefully in the Lu Family wouldn’t be so easy. Gaining their acceptance was a challenge.
Ye Ya suddenly felt that it didn’t matter much anymore. Previously, she had wanted to gain the Lu Family’s approval to avoid putting Lu Tianyang in a difficult position. Now, all she wanted was to live quietly. She had to admit that Zhao Meiqin had helped her build up her resilience.
After finishing breakfast, Ye Ya didn’t need to clean up the dishes, but Du Huiru insisted that she do it and said these were precious bowls and chopsticks that required careful handling.
“Mom, Xiao Ya is my wife, not a servant,” Lu Tianyang said angrily, pulling Ye Ya’s hand as if to leave.
“Aren’t these things what she should be doing? If she can’t even handle such small tasks, how does she expect to be a daughter-in-law of the Lu Family? I think you two should just get divorced; after all, she has already embarrassed us enough.”
Ye Ya’s hand tightened slightly as she told herself that one day, she would make those who once looked down on her regret their actions and realize who truly lost face.
“Mom, why are you making things difficult for her? If you really don’t want us living here, I’ll take her and Chen Chen away. Is that okay?”
“Go ahead! But let me tell you this: if you leave now, don’t ever think about coming back,” Du Huiru said angrily as she threw down her chopsticks.
Hearing that they were taking Chen Chen away, Lu Old Man looked at them and said, “What are you all arguing about? Aren’t you tired of fighting all day long?”
“Lu Tianyang, aren’t you supposed to go to work? Hurry up! It’s just a few bowls; it’s not a big deal,” Ye Ya said. She felt it was unnecessary to argue over something so trivial.
“Really, it’s fine,” Ye Ya glanced at him and went into the kitchen to clean up the dishes. It didn’t take long for her to tidy everything up and put them away properly.
She returned to her room, where Lu Tianyang was tying his tie. When he saw her come in, he reached out to grab her hand. "Wife, I'm sorry. How about we take Chen Chen back to Yiju Mountain Villa?"
Ye Ya sat down, the child being taken out by the nanny for a feeding. She still couldn't guarantee that her milk would fully satisfy Chen Chen's hunger.
"There's no need for that. Your mother felt embarrassed that night, and it's not good for her to bottle it up. I'm fine; you should go to work," Ye Ya said casually, which made Lu Tianyang feel like he might have been overreacting.
"Wife, I'm going to work now. Call me if you need anything; I'll be home early tonight."
"Mm." Ye Ya didn't say much more. This way of interacting was more acceptable to her than being forced every day.
After Lu Tianyang left for work, Du Huiru invited some friends over for a card game, which relieved Ye Ya; the whole house became much quieter.
Ye Ya and Tao Momo decided to use the money earned from Moya Fashion Store to start their own company, officially establishing Moya Fashion as their brand with a dedicated production factory. They needed to prepare detailed plans, conduct market analysis, and choose locations in advance.
This time, Ye Ya invested all her money into it. She didn't intend to use Lu Tianyang's money; starting this company was her own responsibility, and she didn't want the Lu family to use it against her one day.
At noon, Guo Ma came upstairs and saw Ye Ya still sitting in front of the computer, maintaining her original focus. Others might not know, but she understood how hard this Young Mistress worked.
Feeling sympathetic, Guo Ma quietly brought up a bowl of soup. "Lady, since Madam isn't here, I wasn't sure how to prepare lunch. I made you a bowl of noodles; let me know if you'd like anything else."
Ye Ya took the bowl and looked at it. Despite being just a simple bowl of noodles, she knew it was well-prepared inside; there were at least three fresh shrimp wrapped in the wonton skin.
"Guo Ma, thank you so much. This is enough." In this house, there weren't many who treated her well; she remembered each one.
"You're too polite, Lady. Just call me if you need anything," Guo Ma said before leaving, reminding her not to tire herself too much.
While eating noodles and searching for information, Ye Ya realized that starting a company involved much more than opening a store. This time, she had invested her entire fortune into it, and she was determined not to fail; she simply could not afford to.
Around four in the afternoon, Du Huiru returned with several large shopping bags. It seemed she had been out shopping, which was one of the ways for a wealthy lady like her to pass the time.
Ye Ya decided to head to the kitchen to help out, but Chen Chen started crying. Du Huiru, visibly impatient, said, "Alright, you can leave this to us. Go check on the baby."
"Okay," Ye Ya replied, quickly removing her apron and rushing to see the child. In the Lu family, there were several servants taking care of Chen Chen. After all, the Lu Old Man was very fond of her. The only advantage of being here was that they would never neglect Chen Chen.
In the evening, as the sun set, Ye Ya was playing with Chen Chen in the yard when Lu Tianyang returned. Upon seeing them, he couldn't help but have someone take his briefcase away and quietly approached them.
"Darling, I'm back! Chen Chen, let Daddy hold you. Were you good today?" he said, leaning down to give her a quick kiss. Chen Chen waved her little hand and laughed joyfully. Perhaps at that moment, she didn't yet understand that this man was called Daddy, but she loved looking at him.
Just then, a white Lamborghini drove in. Ye Ya and Lu Tianyang turned to see Fu Wan Jing stepping out of the car in a lake-green dress. They couldn't help but admit that she was indeed beautiful and exuded an air of elegance typical of high society.
This was something only true aristocrats could cultivate. Ye Ya instinctively glanced at Lu Tianyang and noticed his expression; he seemed surprised that Fu Wan Jing had come.
