Ye Ya closed her eyes, wincing in pain. "It still hurts. Just a little more, and turn the water down," she murmured. Her eyes remained shut tight, and Lu Tianyang wrapped one arm around her waist while spraying water with the other.
She gently rubbed her eyes; the fresh water felt uncomfortable, but the pain had lessened compared to before.
"Are you feeling better?" Lu Tianyang asked as he held her close.
Ye Ya wiped her face with a towel, squinting as she struggled to see. "A bit better. Can you let me go now?"
"No way. Stay still. I’ll carry you out. Can you see the broken glass on the floor?" Lu Tianyang growled softly, and Ye Ya fell silent, not daring to speak. He carried her into the room, where the carpet cushioned their steps, keeping the chill at bay even without shoes.
Ye Ya realized she was not wearing anything and instinctively wanted to rush for her clothes. Although they had seen everything before, it felt different now. They were divorced—single again—and being alone together in a room like this felt inappropriate.
Before she could get up, Lu Tianyang pressed her back down. "You silly woman, sit still. I’ll get you some clothes. What are you covering up for? I’ve seen everything, including that red birthmark on your backside. There’s nothing new to hide."
"You’re shameless!" Ye Ya shot back, anger flaring as she clutched her arms tightly around her chest. Lu Tianyang opened the wardrobe with familiarity and pulled out a robe for her.
He approached and first dabbed her with a towel. "Your foot is bleeding. Just sit still; forget it for now. Once you’re dressed, I’ll take you to the hospital."
Lu Tianyang didn’t waste time; he roughly dried off the water droplets on her skin with the towel while Ye Ya struggled to fully open her eyes. The soap bubbles had stung them earlier, leaving a gritty sensation.
"I can do it myself; just go away," Ye Ya insisted, frustrated by the situation.
"Ye Ya, shut up," Lu Tianyang snapped back, raising the towel in exasperation. She felt a bit wronged but remained silent as he helped her into the robe.
He fetched the first aid kit and frowned at her. "Look at you—stepping on broken glass like this. Just bear with it; I’ll get the glass out."
He set her down on the sofa to make it easier for himself to remove the shards from her foot. However, as soon as he touched it, Ye Ya's brow furrowed tightly in pain.
“Does it hurt a lot? Maybe we should call a doctor,” Lu Tianyang sighed, feeling utterly helpless.
“Forget it, you choose. I can endure it,” Ye Ya replied, not wanting to make things complicated. It was just a piece of broken glass; she could handle it.
Lu Tianyang lifted her leg and placed it on his thigh. She wasn’t wearing anything underneath, and the view beneath her skirt was exposed. However, this wasn’t the time for such thoughts. He glanced at her and said, “Honey, just bear with the pain a little longer.”
Ye Ya wanted to retort that she wasn’t his wife anymore since they were divorced, but seeing the pained expression on his face as he held her foot made her swallow her words.
Lu Tianyang picked up a needle and first treated the surrounding skin. Then, using a pair of tweezers, he swiftly removed the glass shard while Ye Ya was distracted. A sharp pain shot through her, and blood began to flow.
“Lu Tianyang, it hurts so much!” Ye Ya finally couldn’t hold back.
“Be good, honey. I’m going to stop the bleeding now. Don’t move; it’ll be over quickly,” Lu Tianyang said as he cleaned the wound with antiseptic, applied a bandage, and then wrapped it tightly with gauze.
Tears streamed down Ye Ya’s face from the pain; that tiny piece of glass felt like it was taking her life away.
Once Lu Tianyang finished bandaging her up, he noticed the color had drained from her face and pulled her into a tight embrace. “It’s okay now; you’re fine. If it still hurts, I’ll call a doctor to take a look.”
Ye Ya was pressed against his chest, feeling a mix of anger and frustration towards this jerk for being so inconsiderate.
“Lu Tianyang, who said you could take care of me? Didn’t we agree to stay out of each other’s lives? Just go away; I don’t want to see you!” she cried while instinctively pinching him.
Lu Tianyang frowned. “I’ll leave once your foot is better. What if you need to go to the bathroom tonight? What if you hurt your foot again? What if you end up disabled? Stop crying.”
“Don’t worry about me! Who says getting cut by glass will lead to disability? Stop scaring me!” Ye Ya protested as he held her tightly, almost making it hard for her to breathe.
"Listen, stop making a fuss. I'll wait until your foot is better before we leave. Don't cry, okay?"
Hearing his tone, Ye Ya felt like she could spit blood. "Are you trying to coax Chen Chen? I'm not a child, Lu Tianyang. You're such a jerk, a big jerk!"
"I'm the jerk, I'm the big jerk. It's all my fault. Even my breathing is wrong. Just stop crying, alright?" Lu Tianyang sighed, realizing that dealing with women and petty people was truly a difficult task.
"No way! I'm going to cry. What do you care? You're just my ex-husband now," Ye Ya retorted, her eyes uncomfortable and her foot hurting. She directed all her grievances towards Lu Tianyang. He didn’t mind her hitting and cursing; after a while, she finally quieted down.
He wiped her tears away gently. "Lie down. After all that yelling, you're probably hungry. I'll have someone bring you some food."
Ye Ya looked at him and suddenly pulled the blanket over her head, not wanting to face him. What had she just done? She must have gone crazy.
Lu Tianyang yanked her out from under the blanket. "Stop being difficult. Your hair is still wet; how can you sleep like this? Sit up." With that, he darkened his expression and took out a hairdryer to dry her hair.
Ye Ya couldn't help but ask, "Why are you even bothering with me? Just let me suffer in pain; it suits you just fine so you don't have to look at me."
Lu Tianyang didn’t respond because he felt an overwhelming urge to strangle her. Had he ever said that she annoyed him? Damn it, during their time apart after the divorce, he had thought about her every night.
Forget it; talking to this stubborn woman was pointless; she wouldn’t understand.
As he dried her hair, Lu Tianyang enjoyed the feeling of her long hair wrapping around his fingers. He sighed again. "You’re such a handful. If you can’t take care of yourself properly, how can you take care of Chen Chen?"
Ye Ya tensed up at his words. "Lu Tianyang, what do you mean? Didn’t you say you wouldn’t fight me for custody?"
"You always twist my words, you dead woman. Chen Chen is yours and mine; what’s there to fight about? Just sit still and don’t cause any more trouble." Lu Tianyang walked out to have the maid come in to clean the glass in the bathroom and asked Guo Ma to prepare some food for them.
When he returned to the room, he found the woman sitting in the study, using the computer. Suppressing his anger, he walked over and overheard her on the phone. “Hello, Manager Ma, your price is still too high. Your location isn’t even the best, so why is it more expensive than those in front? I’ll think about it.”
Ye Ya hung up the phone, cursing that damn Manager Ma for taking advantage of her lack of knowledge about prices.
“What are you doing sitting up? Do I need to tie you down?” Lu Tianyang abruptly shut her computer off, furious that she was still restless after being injured.
“Hey, why do you care about my business, Lu Tianyang? We’re divorced now, remember? Does that mean I can’t handle my work?” Ye Ya was infuriated; he was still so domineering even after their divorce.
Having been scolded by her too many times, Lu Tianyang remained calm and said nothing. He simply picked her up and carried her to the dining table. “Let’s eat first before you keep yelling. If you don’t behave, I’ll tie you to the bed. Go ahead and try me.”
After saying that, he elegantly sat down across from her like a nobleman and served her a bowl of soup, making Ye Ya feel like she might explode with anger.
“Who do you think you are to tie me up?”
Lu Tianyang picked up his chopsticks and glanced at her. “Because you’re disobedient and love to fuss around. If I don’t tie you up, will you listen?”
“You’re inhuman!” Ye Ya took the soup he offered and drank it all in one go, realizing she was still a bit thirsty.
Lu Tianyang filled her bowl again with a sigh of resignation. “Let’s deal with your fussing after dinner. You’re already injured; can’t you just be a little more compliant? There’s no rush with work; your life is more important.”
Ye Ya ignored him and didn’t say another word after finishing her meal. Lu Tianyang had someone come up to clear the table while Ye Ya wanted to check on their child. Seeing her limping foot, he couldn’t hold back any longer and took out some rope, carrying her back to bed.
“Ye Ya, can you please behave? If that foot gets inflamed, we’ll see if you still want it.” He really had no choice but to tie her up.
Ye Ya looked at the rope in his hands, thinking how ridiculous it was for him to treat her like a criminal; this was utterly unreasonable.
“Lu Tianyang, if you dare tie me up, just try it!” Ye Ya protested immediately; her hands were fine even if her foot was injured.
Don't say her foot is injured; even if all her limbs were fine, she wouldn't be a match for him. In an instant, Lu Tianyang had subdued her, tying her hands with a rope.
Ye Ya knew she couldn't defeat him. Seeing him tie her up made her heart ache. "Lu Tianyang, you're not human. You only know how to bully me when I'm hurt. Why do you keep picking on me?" After saying this, Ye Ya began to cry.
Lu Tianyang paused for a moment and sat down beside her. "You keep moving around and refusing to rest. How do you expect your foot to heal? I'm tying you up for your own good."
"Stop trying to deceive me with that nonsense. You fascist! You just can't stand me and are deliberately making things difficult for me. Ever since I married you, I haven't had a single day of happiness. Even after the divorce, you still bully me. Is there anyone like you, Lu Tianyang?" Ye Ya struggled desperately against the ropes. Seeing her like this pained Lu Tianyang as well.
"Then promise me you'll stay in bed and rest, and I'll let you go, alright?" No matter how tough he was, his heart softened at her words; he was only trying to help her.
A wise man doesn't suffer losses in front of him. Ye Ya nodded reluctantly. "It's not that I'm being disobedient; I just want to see our daughter. She just got better from her illness, and you're so heartless that you won't even let me see her."
At this point, Lu Tianyang felt completely innocent; when had he ever stopped her from seeing their daughter?
"You're being silly. Just lie down obediently, and I'll bring Chen Chen over for you to see. Stop crying, okay? Anyone who doesn't know would think I've done something terrible to you." With that, Lu Tianyang let out a big sigh; being a man was truly difficult.
