The Giants 8: Dear, may you never be sad

When I first rose into the sky as the Moon, the sights of the mortal world felt both strange and warm to me. 0

Many common folk danced excitedly around a bonfire, their faces glowing with happiness; some couples nestled together on the soft grass, whispering sweet nothings to each other. 0

For the people, the cycle of day and night was a source of joy and comfort. 0

But for me, it marked the beginning of another kind of suffering. 0

My thoughts involuntarily drifted back to the scene in the Lingxiao Palace. 0

"The wretched maid is so ungrateful as to defy orders! Someone, drag her out and behead her!" The Queen Mother sat high on her golden throne, glaring at me as she shouted. 0

The court fell into a deathly silence; no one dared to speak up in my defense. That quiet was chilling. 0

I looked at the Jade Emperor, who also sat on a golden throne, my heart filled with disappointment, yet I still forced a bright smile. 0

Kua Fu was dead, and I no longer wished to live alone. Perhaps it would be better to vanish together in a puff of smoke; it might even be a form of liberation for me. 0

Just as I had made up my mind to follow the heavenly soldiers and accept my fate, someone suddenly intercepted me. 0

It was Guanyin Bodhisattva. Holding a willow branch, she gently pointed it at me, and something miraculous happened: my collarbone reformed, and the wound on my chest healed instantly. 0

She smiled softly and spoke just a few words that turned everything around. "Xiao Yue has indeed committed unforgivable sins, but after all, she is of royal blood. It would be better to punish her by sending her to the heavens to serve humanity for eternity." 0

Upon hearing this, the Queen Mother raised an eyebrow, her face filled with disdain. "Has the Bodhisattva forgotten why she was dragged back to the Heavenly Court? Negligence is a crime that deserves punishment!" With a flourish of her sleeve, she added, "My son has already recovered; he should return to the heavens and spread light for the mortals." 0

At the Queen Mother's words, I felt a wave of desolation wash over me. In times of crisis, I was like the sun in the sky, becoming someone else's scapegoat; yet once the danger passed, I became the target for everyone’s ire, left at their mercy. This life in the heavens truly left no room for nostalgia! 0

I bent down respectfully and bowed to Guanyin, then stood up and silently walked towards the Heavenly Soldier. 0

Seeing this, Guanyin casually pinched her fingers, and an enchantment suddenly appeared, trapping me in place, unable to move. She said, "Queen Mother, just watch." With that, she gently waved her flowing sleeves, and a screen appeared in the court. 0

On the screen, many commoners were digging cave dwellings, trying to excavate deeper into the stone caves, while the livestock in the fields sought refuge in the shade. 0

The Queen Mother widened her eyes and slammed her palm onto the chair in anger, saying, "These ungrateful wretches! My Nine Daughters are dead, yet they are still not satisfied and seek to avoid the sunlight! Very well! If that's the case, let my son return and let them fend for themselves!" 0

Guanyin calmly responded, "It is not that they are avoiding the sunlight; it is that the sun shines all day long, making it too bright for them to rest." 0

Guanyin glanced back at me with a smile and continued, "Why not adopt a system of day and night? For six hours, the Sun God will take charge, shining brightly—this shall be called 'day'; for the remaining six hours, Xiao Yue will guard it, merely covering the brightness and lightly sprinkling light so that humanity can see their path—this shall be called 'night.' In this way, people can farm during the day and rest at night, allowing for lasting peace on earth." 0

Upon hearing this, the Queen Mother pondered for a moment, her face revealing uncertainty. 0

At that moment, Old Man unexpectedly knelt down first and loudly proclaimed, "Please grant your holy decree, Jade Emperor." The other deities saw this and also knelt down in unison, shouting together, "Please grant your holy decree, Jade Emperor." 0

"Ahem... Ahem... Please rise," the Jade Emperor raised his arm to signal everyone to stand. "Deities are also transformed from mortals; naturally, we should wholeheartedly benefit humanity. Then... let us adopt the method proposed by Guanyin and implement a system of day and night!" 0

The Jade Emperor chuckled awkwardly while exchanging knowing glances with the Queen Mother beside him. He said, "In that case, we can often see our son!" 0

The Queen Mother pursed her lips but ultimately did not voice any objections. 0

Then Guanyin smiled mysteriously at me before vanishing from everyone's sight. 0

The moon... I silently repeated this word in my heart. I couldn't help but wonder why I had to spend my time up here... 0

I forced a smile as I gazed at Kua Fu Mountain in the mortal realm, filled with melancholy as tears streamed down my face uncontrollably. 0

I ascended to the sky once more, while you lay forever in the ground below... Tears streamed down my cheeks, gently slicing through the darkness, plummeting straight towards Kua Fu Mountain. 0

I leaned forward, intently watching the trail of my tears as they fell, and suddenly I caught sight of faint glimmers rising slowly from Kua Fu Mountain. 0

These lights were as tiny as fireflies, ascending bit by bit before finally scattering around me, coming to a halt. 0

I gazed closely at those minute lights, and upon recognizing them, I was already in tears. 0

It was indeed half of the Scorching Pearl that I had fed to Kua Fu in the palace! 0

The people of the world marveled: "The stars have risen; the moon is no longer lonely!" 0

"How beautiful... How beautiful!" 0

"So happy... I want you to stay by my side forever like the stars," a girl whispered to her lover beside her. 0

I murmured softly towards the distance, "Kua Fu... Thank you..." 0

Later, when the sun god took his turn, I stepped out of the palace, hoping to find Old Man for some company. 0

To my surprise, he led me to the entrance of another palace. 0

There, on the spirit tablet of the palace, a few large characters clearly caught my eye — "Stellar Palace." 0

Old Man stepped in first, and with curiosity bubbling within me, I followed him across the threshold. 0

In the courtyard stood towering stones, one side desolate and lonely, reminiscent of the once vibrant Zai Tian mountain. 0

A man sat beside the Milky Way, dozing off. Though his eyes were closed, his brow was tightly furrowed, and the serious expression on his face remained unchanged from before. 0

On the stone table beside him lay a Qian Kun Bag, quietly waiting. 0

Kua Fu? At that moment, I suddenly recalled the mysterious smile of the Bodhisattva as he departed. Could it be... that the Bodhisattva has allowed Kua Fu to be reborn? 0

I hurried over and picked up the Qian Kun Bag. 0

Indeed, it was the same one I had before, now sewn up by someone. Although its effectiveness remained intact, the stitching... was rather unsightly. 0

I opened the Qian Kun Bag and peered inside, where countless shards of Scorching Pearl were gathered together, emitting a faint glow. 0

Tears streamed down my face once more. I had no time to wipe them away as I quickly approached him. 0

I had initially wanted to scold him fiercely, tease him, humiliate him. Even though I could not voice my thoughts, I believed my terrifying expression could still frighten him. 0

However, when I reached his side and looked at his weary face, I found myself unable to disturb him. 0

Instead, I gently smoothed his tightly knitted brow and smiled with relief. 0

My dear, when I am by your side, may you never know sorrow. 0
