The temperature in the room seemed to rise, causing the decay of several corpses to accelerate. In some areas, white bones were exposed, while more flesh hung in tattered remnants. 0

Chang Lili shouted at me a few times, and the other corpses closed in around me. I pressed my back against the door, gripping the Ruyi Stick tightly as I faced them. 0

With a leap, Chang Lili extended her fingers toward my face, while the other corpses joined the attack. Being corpses, they felt no pain and charged at me recklessly. If it weren't for the Ruyi Stick being made from the Bodhi tree, which had some restraining effect on evil entities, I feared I would be torn apart by these bodies. 0

I crouched down to evade Chang Lili's grasp and slipped through a gap created by the surrounding corpses. Quickly, I took out a soul-binding talisman and pressed it onto one corpse's back. Just as I was about to apply a second talisman, Chang Lili turned and lunged at me again. I had no choice but to raise the Ruyi Stick to block her attack. I could see the wriggling maggots in her dark eye sockets as she glared at me. 0

Chang Lili's hand gripped the Ruyi Stick tightly as we were locked in a standoff. The other corpses closed in once more, forcing me to abandon the Ruyi Stick. I elbowed one corpse aside and broke free from the encirclement, pulling out my Peach Wood Sword. I dashed to the wall, kicked off it, and flipped in mid-air to stab the Peach Wood Sword into the head of the nearest corpse. The corpse trembled under the electric power of the sword, and the foul odor in the room lessened slightly, replaced by a smell reminiscent of charred flesh. 0

Seeing that I had already killed one corpse and subdued another within moments, Chang Lili realized my strategy of taking them down one by one. She quickly formed hand seals with both hands, causing the other corpses in the room to emit fearful howls. 0

"Devour Soul, Devour Spirit, refine!" 0

Chang Lili's words were exceptionally clear. As her voice fell, the other corpses slumped down weakly. A cloud of black mist floated from each corpse's head toward Chang Lili's mouth. 0

Within that mist, I could vaguely see the figures of several girls from earlier; each one displayed extreme terror in their eyes, bulging with a pleading gaze directed at me. 0

As the black mist continuously flowed into her mouth, Chang Lili's decayed body gradually returned to a normal human form. By the time the last wisp of black mist was consumed, she had completely transformed back, extending her crimson tongue to lick her lips as if savoring a delicacy. 0

"You actually devoured their souls?" I demanded. 0

Chang Lili smiled and replied, "So what? If it weren't for you meddling monk getting involved, they wouldn't have perished so quickly." 0

I stepped forward with my Peach Wood Sword raised and asked, "What is your purpose in marrying Shen Tao? It can't just be for his yang energy." 0

Chang Lili shot me a sidelong glance and said, "You will pay for ruining my master's plans with your life." The thought of her master’s torturous methods sent a shiver down her spine; even if it meant death, she wished to avoid such punishment. 0

Chang Lili let out a fierce shout, her eyes glowing with an eerie red light. In an instant, she appeared before me like a gust of wind, kicking towards my chest. I raised the Peach Wood Sword to block, protecting my heart. The force of her kick was immense, pushing me backward with great power. I tilted my head just as I was about to be pushed into the corner of the wall, bracing one foot against it while slightly bending the other to withstand Chang Lili's tremendous strength. 0

"Don't you fear retribution for consuming others' souls to gain power? You should know that the cycle of karma is real. You will eventually reap what you sow," I shouted at Chang Lili, questioning how her actions differed from murder. 0

"Haha..." Chang Lili laughed loudly, tears glistening at the corners of her eyes. Then, gritting her teeth, she retorted, "Karma? Retribution? If heaven truly had eyes, it would have sent my mother to hell long ago." 0

Her long hair, which had been coiled up, fell down her back as if moved by an unseen force. A ruthless glint shone in her eyes. With a swift motion, she kicked hard against the Peach Wood Sword and then landed gracefully on the ground. 0

I felt as if a heavy stone had struck my chest; a sweetness rose in my throat, and blood trickled from the corner of my mouth. 0

"Though I don't know what you've been through, using your hatred as an excuse to harm innocent people is no different from harming those who have wronged you," I said, wiping the blood from my lips. 0

Chang Lili snorted coldly and replied, "I despise those who speak without understanding. If it hadn't happened to you, you'd surely be righteous in your words. Bah... you self-proclaimed champions of justice are the most disgusting." 0

Before I could respond, Chang Lili's hands curled into claws as she lunged at me. I could only transform the Peach Wood Sword into a radiant arc of light. Undeterred, Chang Lili's sharp claws clashed against the sword with a sound like metal striking metal. The Peach Wood Sword sensed the Corpse Qi and sparked with arcs of lightning. 0

At that moment, loud knocking echoed from outside the door as the fat man shouted hoarsely, "Ling Feng! Are you okay? You mustn't die!" 0

If he were here right now, I'd want to give him a couple of hard knocks on the head. Did he really have so little faith in me? 0

"I'm fine! Don't come in!" I yelled back at him, but this momentary distraction allowed Chang Lili to tear through my shoulder with her claw, sending waves of sharp pain coursing through me. 0

Chang Lili cackled triumphantly and said, "You should worry about yourself first." 0

I had initially hoped to extract more information from Chang Lili, but it seemed that her hatred had blinded her; there was little chance of getting anything out of her now. Moreover, my most important people were outside; I couldn't let them face any danger. 0

I bit my middle finger until it bled and traced the blood along the blade of the Peach Wood Sword, leaving behind a series of crooked red marks. 0

I threw the Obsidian Prayer Beads towards Chang Lili, then formed a hand seal while reciting the Six Character Mantra. The beads scattered around Chang Lili. 0

"Om Mani Padme Hum..." 0

The Six-Character Great Bright Mantra symbolizes the compassion and blessings of all Bodhisattvas, possessing the supreme power of Buddhism. Drawing upon the faint Buddhist energy from my Dan Tian, I chanted the Six Character Mantra, its sound resonating like a great bell throughout the room. 0

Chang Lili was trapped within the barrier, surrounded by swirling black mist that constantly eroded against the faint Buddhist light. I noticed that she seemed to be possessed, her eyes turning blood red, and her nails gleaming black as she clawed at the barrier. The barrier trembled under her assault, on the verge of collapse. 0

I thrust the Peach Wood Sword directly at Chang Lili. Sensing its increased power and a hint of danger, she clasped her hands together to trap the sword between them. 0

I exerted more force, but the Peach Wood Sword remained unmoved. Chang Lili's hands emitted wisps of green smoke, hissing where they made contact with the sword. 0
