Fo Zhang guarded the Big Red Flower as if it were a treasure, his eyes gleaming with an intense desire, as if he wished to shove the flower into his mouth.
"Could you please show a little restraint? It's just a Big Red Flower. Do you really need to look at it like that?" I said, exasperated by Fo Zhang's behavior, as if I had been mistreating it.
Fo Zhang ignored me, his gaze fixed on the Big Red Flower. I pondered that this cave was so secluded that there might be some hidden treasures inside; even taking out just one item could make me rich. That would provide the capital for my shop.
As I searched the area with my flashlight, suddenly a blinding light erupted, momentarily blinding me.
In the center of the cave, something emitting a strong light appeared from nowhere. I cautiously glanced toward the entrance and vaguely saw a slender figure of a woman slowly walking in.
"Who are you?" I asked in a low voice, positioning myself in front of Fo Zhang.
"Wow? Someone got here first? But whatever I, Jian Jie, have set my sights on, I will not let slip away," the woman replied with an air of arrogance.
As she stepped into the light, I realized she was stunningly beautiful. My previously tense body relaxed slightly, and I instinctively tucked my Ruyi Stick behind my back.
The woman appeared to be in her twenties, with an oval face and large eyes. Her skin was very fair, and she wore a bright purple jacket with her pants tucked into her hiking boots. With her hair tied in a ponytail, she looked particularly capable. She scanned me with a scrutinizing gaze, as if assessing a criminal, and asked, "Who are you? What are you doing here? If anything happens to my flower, I'll take your life."
I was someone who preferred to be soft rather than hard; regardless of how beautiful she was, anyone who could enter such a hidden cave must not be as simple as they appeared.
I crossed my arms and scoffed, "Who are you?"
The woman reached for her waist and produced a Long Whip adorned with barbs. She struck the whip against the cave wall with a loud crack that sent debris falling and dust swirling around us. With a mocking smile, she said, "I'll make sure that for the rest of your life, whenever you hear my name—Jian Jie—you'll wake up screaming from nightmares."
With that, she lashed out at me. The whip in Jian Jie's hand came alive like a snake, striking fiercely toward me.
I raised my Ruyi Stick to block it; the whip wrapped around the stick's shaft. With a sudden pull, I yanked it toward me. Jian Jie seemed to underestimate me due to my humble appearance and didn’t see it coming. As I pulled hard, she stumbled slightly and nearly fell to the ground.
"Who would have thought? You look so dull-witted but actually have some skills," Jian Jie said with a laugh, though her eyes held a hint of coldness.
"You can't just lash out without knowing anything about someone. If it were anyone else, they would have been killed by now," I retorted sharply. Such arrogance was truly irritating—even if she had an attractive face.
Did she really think of herself as a princess who could command everyone around her?
Jian Jie coldly smiled and said, "I hope you still have the guts to say such things later."
The whip sliced through the air again, and as I held the Ruyi Stick to block it, I quickly moved. Fortunately, the cave was small, allowing me to use the Great Shift Technique to maneuver against the walls. The more I moved, the stronger I became. To deal with this beautiful madwoman who lashed out at the slightest provocation, I had to get in close for a chance.
Seeing me as cunning as a Yuanhou, Jian Jie intensified her grip on the whip, sending stones flying throughout the cave.
Fo Zhang seemed oblivious, shielding the Big Red Flower beneath her body. She was no longer as attentive as before and didn’t even think of helping me. But I didn’t need assistance; I was confident I could handle a woman on my own.
I kept pushing off against the stone wall with my feet, getting closer to Jian Jie. Just when I thought I was almost there, she surprisingly demonstrated her skill. With a sudden flick of her wrist, she transformed the whip into a staff and swung it directly at me, blocking my approach.
I deflected the whip with the Ruyi Stick and lowered my body, rolling on the ground a few times before successfully getting close to Jian Jie. I then pressed the Ruyi Stick against her fair neck.
However, in the next moment, I released the Ruyi Stick and raised both hands.
Jian Jie was clearly prepared; seeing me close in, she abandoned her whip and pulled out a shiny black gun from her lower back. As I held the Ruyi Stick against her neck, that dark barrel was now aimed right at my groin.
"Beautiful lady, let’s talk calmly. No need for knives or guns; if that thing goes off, it won’t be good," I said with a smile, trying to shift the gun away from my pants.
Jian Jie sneered, "Try moving again and see what happens."
"The flower you want is right over there; I've got my partner keeping an eye on it," I replied while raising my hands, hoping to divert Jian Jie’s attention.
Sure enough, when she glanced over at the Big Red Flower, her gaze shifted. Perhaps sensing Jian Jie’s intense stare, Fo Zhang shielded the Big Red Flower behind her and bared her teeth at Jian Jie in a fierce display.
I was somewhat surprised; Fo Zhang had always been gentle and never showed aggression towards anyone. I wondered what kind of magic this Big Red Flower possessed that could provoke such a reaction from her.
Jian Jie frowned and pointed at Fo Zhang while asking me, "Is this one yours?"
"Yes. Isn’t she adorable?" I replied with a smile.
Jian Jie scrutinized me for a moment before saying, "This monkey has quite a spirit. I'm interested; name your price."
My expression instantly darkened. Yes, I was in desperate need of money and wanted it badly, but Fo Zhang had been by my side; it was not a pet, it was my family. Looking at Jian Jie’s proud expression, I coldly replied, “I won’t sell.”
Jian Jie laughed mockingly and said, “You have two choices: you die or it dies?” Jian Jie pointed the gun at me and then at Fo Zhang.
“Even if it means death, I won’t part with Fo Zhang,” I said, raising my head like a hero facing sacrifice.
Jian Jie fired two shots at the cave ceiling. The deafening sound nearly made my ears ring. With a sideways glance, Jian Jie remarked, “You’re an interesting monk.”
“I’ll give you money; let me and Fo Zhang go. How about that?” I tentatively asked.
A faint smile lingered on Jian Jie’s face, but it felt cold and indifferent. “Money, I want. The person, I want too.”
Then she extended her index finger to tease my chin, her expression playful. For a moment, I was taken aback by the mockery in Jian Jie’s eyes. No wonder Zhang Wuji’s mother, Yin Susu— the more beautiful the woman, the more deceitful she could be. At that moment, a beautiful woman seemed like a deadly weapon!
