“Ling Feng, do we have no way to deal with Wong Tai Sin at all?” Ruo Yu asked, a hint of frustration in his voice.
“I have a feeling that Wong Tai Sin hasn’t gone far. He’s probably hiding somewhere nearby, secretly watching us,” I replied.
Ruo Yu pondered for a moment. “You know, I feel the same way. But this creature is too cunning; without some sort of trap, I doubt we’ll be able to catch him.”
Suddenly, a phrase popped into my mind: A weasel giving a New Year’s greeting to a chicken—there’s no good intention behind it.
No matter how advanced Wong Tai Sin’s cultivation is, he hasn’t become an immortal yet. Since that’s the case, he must still have to eat. If we could tempt him with some chicken…
I shared my idea with Ruo Yu, and he agreed. Sure enough, after searching around not far from the temple, we found a pile of bones that looked like they belonged to chickens and ducks.
Fortunately, the person who had fled earlier only took some money and valuables. They didn’t take any of the chickens or ducks.
The previous gas bombs and mud puppets had nearly killed all the poultry. Except for one Luhua Rooster. Although it looked weary, it had managed to survive against the odds.
Truly a resilient chicken.
Ruo Yu and I set up our trap and then retreated outside, waiting patiently for our prey to take the bait.
For some reason, Ruo Yu seemed particularly fixated on this Wong Tai Sin. His eyes were glued to the inside of the house, and it took several attempts for me to get him to respond in a whisper.
Feeling somewhat bored, I decided to sit down and meditate. Just as I was settling into my focus, Ruo Yu interrupted me again.
In the darkness, Ruo Yu’s eyes shone like stars. “Someone is coming!”
We quickly hid ourselves, and sure enough, not long after, we saw a shadow moving inside the Zhaoguan. It was too far away to see clearly.
Just by the gait and posture, it was clear that it was a man!
I controlled my breathing and prepared for battle. It shouldn’t be the person who had run away earlier; that individual was quite cunning. Even if he had dropped gold here, he wouldn’t return easily without a solid plan.
Then the newcomer was likely him—Sang Ji!
The shadow was very cautious, observing outside for a while before swaggering into the room.
"How strange, where is that thing today?" the shadow muttered to himself.
Hearing this voice confirmed my suspicion that it was indeed Sang Ji.
As the candlelight flickered to life, I charged out and threw a punch directly at Sang Ji's temple.
Sang Ji tilted his head just in time to evade my fist, stepping back a few paces before leaning against the wall to steady himself.
The candlelight swayed uncertainly in the wake of my punch, almost extinguishing, but then flared back up in an instant.
Seeing an enemy face-to-face ignited a fierce rage within me. Sang Ji's eyes were bloodshot as he stared at me like a bloodthirsty wolf.
"It’s you again!"
I laughed and replied, "Who else could it be? People often call it fate—Nemesis. I suppose I am your destined Nemesis. In this vast country, to encounter you again is truly fate."
Seeing my fearless demeanor, Sang Ji glanced around as if searching for an ambush before he chuckled, "You think you can stop me all by yourself?"
I had no intention of exposing Ruo Yu, thinking it would be far more thrilling to deliver a fatal blow at the critical moment.
"On that day, even when I was gravely injured, I managed to make you flee with your tail between your legs and even took down your hideout. Do you really think I can't keep you here now?" I scoffed.
Sang Ji gasped in anger, sneering, "What a coincidence! Today we’ll settle both old and new scores."
With that, he formed a hand seal, and his head flew off from his neck like a balloon set free, trailing a long string of intestines behind it.
Starting off with such a powerful move clearly showed how furious Sang Ji was. He wanted to tear me apart to relieve his pent-up rage.
Sang Ji's speed was astonishing as his head relentlessly attacked me. I swung the Ruyi Stick to create a barrier, preventing his head from getting too close.
As I fought, I retreated outside; the space inside was too cramped for me to fully utilize my weapon. Left and right, I dodged until Sang Ji seized an opportunity.
A long string of intestines wrapped around the Ruyi Stick, and with a tremendous force, he flung it away. I couldn’t hold on tight enough, and the Ruyi Stick was sent flying far away.
I heard a crisp sound as it hit the ground, but in the pitch-black night, I couldn't see where it had landed.
Sang Ji chuckled sinisterly, "Now let's see where you can run!"
Once outside, I could finally unleash my fists and feet. "I remember someone who despises Nationals so much; how shameless of you to hide here nursing your wounds."
Hitting a sore spot, Sang Ji bared his teeth in fury and shouted, "This is all your fault! If it weren't for you, my Fei Tou Jiang would have already reached its peak. How did I end up in this state?"
Without the Ruyi Stick, I drew out my Peach Wood Sword and smeared it with blood from my middle finger. This Fei Tou Jiang could also be considered a form of sorcery.
The dark magic was directed at oneself, and the Peach Wood Sword was primarily used against malevolent spirits. Although its effect was limited, I couldn't help but feel satisfied as I saw the fine sparks of lightning erupting from the Peach Wood Sword as it struck Sang Ji's head.
However, Sang Ji's attack speed was increasing, and I found myself struggling to keep up. It felt as though everything that had happened before was merely a warm-up.
In a moment of carelessness, I was ensnared by Sang Ji, whose body coiled around me like a giant python, binding me tightly from head to toe.
Sang Ji's head floated eerily in front of me, grinning sinisterly. "Die, you!"
Its mouth opened wide like a snake's, as if its jaw had been forcefully torn apart by someone, and it seemed ready to engulf my head completely.
I wasn't particularly panicked, thanks to my trust in Ruo Yu.
"What are you laughing at?" Sang Ji, already suspicious by nature, couldn't help but ask curiously when it saw that I showed no fear of death.
I replied with a smile, "I'm laughing at you—laughing at how you don't even realize you're about to die."
Sang Ji seemed to sense something was off. As it turned to look inside the room, it witnessed an incredibly violent scene.
Ruo Yu was lifting Sang Ji's body high into the air like a powerful warrior. One of its legs was bent awkwardly.
I could almost hear the sickening crack as Sang Ji's headless body snapped like a rag doll, folding into two parts and hanging limply together like a collapsed folding bed.
"Don't..." Sang Ji screamed as it tried to turn back to save its original body, but it was already too late.
Desperate and cornered, it glared at me and said, "Even if I die, I'm taking someone down with me."
The intestines around me tightened more and more, making it hard for me to breathe. I felt as if all my internal organs were being squeezed together, compressing my body into a long strip.
Sang Ji's wide mouth opened toward me again, filled with a hatred that sought mutual destruction.
Bang...
Half of Sang Ji's head was severed, and Ruo Yu stood there holding my Peach Wood Sword. She smiled apologetically at me, "Sorry, Ling Feng. I was a bit slow."
Sang Ji's severed head twitched on the ground, white brain matter spilling everywhere.
Surprisingly, he still wasn't dead. As Sang Ji's head hit the ground, the tension in my intestines eased.
I plopped down on the ground, gasping for air. The cool night air filled my chest, and that feeling was truly wonderful!
