Wong Tai Sin stood upright, his front paws clasped together, and his hind legs folded on the ground. From a distance, he looked just like a child.
The Luhua Rooster followed us gracefully, stepping in time with our movements.
Da Wei Long, Shakyamuni Ksitigarbha, Kasa Fumo—trapped!
The red Kasa swooped down like a giant net unfurling in the wind, aiming directly at Wong Tai Sin.
When the Kasa landed, I felt a surge of joy. I had thought it would take considerable effort to catch this troublesome creature. To my surprise, it went unusually smoothly. However, when I rushed over to check, I was left dumbfounded—the Kasa was empty beneath it; not a single hair of Wong Tai Sin remained.
Damn it! Wong Tai Sin was indeed incredibly cunning. After confirming that there were no hidden escape routes around, I realized this was merely an illusion created by Wong Tai Sin.
The three of us—no, one person, one pig, and one chicken—had been played for fools.
Big Rooster didn’t seem surprised at all. He clucked and then strolled off in another direction.
Like a leading elder brother, he waved his wing to signal for me and Ruo Yu to follow.
I glanced at Ruo Yu, who nodded back at me. Big Rooster had survived numerous predicaments; he must possess extraordinary qualities. Besides, we were currently like headless flies, being led in circles by Wong Tai Sin.
After walking for a while, Big Rooster suddenly fluffed up his feathers. His wings spread wide, and the feathers on his head stood on end as he charged forward like a mad creature.
His speed was akin to that of a helicopter preparing for takeoff, leaving Ruo Yu and me utterly astonished.
We quickly followed him into a dense thicket where we found Big Rooster and Wong Tai Sin locked in combat.
Big Rooster was incredibly fierce, with a sharp beak and flapping wings. Wong Tai Sin was agile, dodging left and right; Big Rooster couldn’t land a hit.
Yet in terms of momentum, Big Rooster held his ground firmly, displaying an impressive spirit of resilience.
Ruo Yu and I exchanged glances—what was going on here? Were they sworn enemies? Did old grudges resurface upon meeting?
I noticed Ruo Yu wanted to rush in to help and quickly grabbed him, shaking my head. “Let’s observe the situation first.”
I first set up a trap to ensnare the enemy, just in case. It was a rare opportunity to encounter the real thing; if it got away, it would be a wasted effort.
Looking back at the battlefield, the fight was still fierce. The Big Rooster was full of energy, as if it had been injected with adrenaline, displaying an incredible level of excitement.
Wong Tai Sin's Illusion, which had always been effective, surprisingly failed this time. He could only rely on his agile body to dodge continuously.
At that moment, the Big Rooster accelerated and grabbed Wong Tai Sin's tail with its claws. Then it lunged forward to peck at Wong Tai Sin's back.
Wong Tai Sin was already small in size, and with the few pounds of the Big Rooster dragging him down, his speed decreased even further. After being pecked a few times by the Big Rooster, he stopped running and turned to bite at the Big Rooster's neck.
"Heart..."
"Heart..."
Both Ruo Yu and I couldn't help but shout out. To our surprise, the Big Rooster was quite alert; it released Wong Tai Sin's tail and sidestepped slightly, avoiding Wong Tai Sin's lethal bite.
Seizing this opportunity, I threw Kasa into the fray, hoping to catch Wong Tai Sin off guard.
This time I had the advantage of timing and location. I treated Kasa like a bag, tightening its opening. Then I lifted it up and felt some weight inside, which reassured me. I also placed a Talisman on Kasa to prevent Wong Tai Sin from escaping.
Now that we had captured Wong Tai Sin, there was no need for us to stay here any longer. The thought of resolving this matter and heading home filled me with excitement.
"Ruo Yu, let's head down the mountain," I said with a smile.
Ruo Yu seemed a bit slow to react; after a moment, she walked over to me with a smile. "I'll carry this Wong Tai Sin."
"It's not heavy; don't be polite," I laughed and declined her offer.
The Big Rooster preened its feathers for a moment before suddenly flying onto Ruo Yu's shoulder. Just as its sharp beak seemed ready to peck at Ruo Yu's eye, I quickly grabbed its wing and pulled it down.
"You reckless little chicken! Ruo Yu is one of us; don't you know?" I said, poking the Big Rooster on its head as if scolding an unruly child.
The Big Rooster flapped wildly, causing Ruo Yu to instinctively back away in fright. Worried that if I let go of the Big Rooster it might provoke Ruo Yu again, I decided to tie it up instead, hanging it upside down from one end of the Ruyi Stick—calling it a moment for reflection.
Big Rooster struggled for a while, but when it saw that it was ineffective, it rolled its eyes and pretended to be dead, hanging upside down like a giant bat from a distance.
"Ruo Yu, when did you become so timid? I’ve already trapped this chicken; why are you still hiding so far away?" I teased.
Ruo Yu smiled awkwardly, "It's not that I'm scared; I just owe you one for that last moment. Otherwise, I would have ended up as a one-eyed blind man."
I slowed my pace a bit and waited for Ruo Yu to come closer. Suddenly, I struck, thrusting the Ruyi Stick through Ruo Yu's hands.
Then, with a sudden force, I pressed down. Ruo Yu's hands were pinned behind him by the Ruyi Stick, and with another push, he knelt on one knee. "What are you doing? We're brothers, after all!"
I sneered, "Wong Tai Sin, if you don’t get off my brother soon, I’ll burn your true form. I’ll count to three: one, two..."
The rope binding Big Rooster was loosened and tied in a slipknot. With this movement, Big Rooster managed to free itself and flew up to perch on Ruo Yu's head.
Holding Wong Tai Sin’s body in one hand, I continued my threat.
Sure enough, before I could finish counting to three, Ruo Yu slumped softly to the ground. Wong Tai Sin in my hand opened his eyes.
"What did you do to Ruo Yu?" I shook the Wong Tai Sin I was holding.
Wong Tai Sin rolled his eyes at me from the shaking and nearly passed out.
Meanwhile, Big Rooster let out a couple of clucks while standing proudly on Ruo Yu's head like a surveying king.
I began to worry about Ruo Yu's condition and became somewhat distracted. Taking advantage of my inattention, Big Rooster suddenly leaped up and snatched Wong Tai Sin from my grasp. Its claws dug fiercely into Wong Tai Sin’s flesh, pinning him to the ground.
With its sharp beak, it easily pierced into Wong Tai Sin’s head.
Poor Wong Tai Sin didn’t even have time to react before Big Rooster had cracked open his skull.
Big Rooster seemed to find something inside Wong Tai Sin's head and tilted its head back to swallow it whole.
I vaguely saw that it was a shining stone?
I walked over to Ruo Yu and began to check on her. Fortunately, she had only fainted and seemed to be physically unharmed.
Before long, Ruo Yu woke up, rubbing her head. “Why am I lying on the ground? Where's Wong Tai Sin?”
I pointed to the body of Wong Tai Sin lying not far away. “There he is.”
Next to the corpse, Big Rooster's comb seemed to have grown a bit larger. He staggered away toward the dense forest, looking as if he were drunk.
“Where is he going?” Ruo Yu asked.
I chuckled. What did it matter where he went? With his cleverness, he wouldn’t end up in any trouble!
