I set the opening date for May 1st! To be honest, it wasn't anything special. It was just a gathering with people I knew over a meal.
Jiang Jianguo sent a flower basket and brought Jiang Hai along to have some fun.
Fo Zhang naturally came too. He probably missed me after not seeing me for a while, as he immediately jumped onto my shoulder and kept patting my head.
“Ling Feng, not bad! You’ve really made this place look like a proper company!” Jiang Jianguo praised with a nod.
I humbly replied, “Jiang Brother, don’t tease me. I’m just copying what I’ve seen.”
“A young person who dares to take risks is a good thing!” Jiang Jianguo responded.
After chatting for a bit longer, Jiang Jianguo had to leave due to his busy schedule, and since my acquaintances were not really on the same level as him, it was understandable. When he was about to go, Jiang Hai looked longingly at Fo Zhang, pouting with tears welling up in his eyes.
Jiang Jianguo glanced at me awkwardly. I patted Fo Zhang, who surprisingly didn’t move; he probably didn’t want to go back.
I had no choice but to say, “How about letting Hai stay here for a while? I can have Tao Ge take him back later!”
Jiang Jianguo laughed, “Alright! Otherwise, if he starts crying, I won’t know how to calm him down!”
Everyone burst into laughter! After sending off Jiang Jianguo, just then Fei Fei and the Fatty arrived.
Fei Fei had successfully enrolled in H Medical University, which is right in H City. The Fatty didn’t want to be too far from home either, so he was working in the city. The Rat had gone off to join the army, and the Monkey had headed south to seek his fortune. They were too busy to come back.
Seeing them made me incredibly happy.
“Ling Feng, I have to stick with you from now on! You’ve only been out for a short time and already bought a house and started a company? It’s really infuriating how much better you’re doing than the rest of us!” the Fatty complained.
Fei Fei had become even more beautiful now. “ Ling Feng, congratulations on achieving your dreams! Wishing you prosperous business!”
Additionally, Wang Jun also showed up out of nowhere with news he’d heard from somewhere!
It was just me, Ruo Yu, Shen Tao, Fei Fei, the Fat Guy, Wang Jun, along with Fo Zhang and Jiang Hai! I had booked a large private room at the restaurant nearby.
Among these people, aside from Wang Jun, who was a bit unfamiliar, the rest were like brothers and sisters to me! We felt like one big family.
We drank from noon until evening. Even Fei Fei had quite a bit to drink.
As we left the restaurant, the sun was setting, casting a gentle glow.
The clearest-headed among us was still Shen Tao. He hadn’t drunk any alcohol; he had only sipped juice because he was considering driving someone home afterward.
“Ling Feng, you head back. I’ll take care of these three; you don’t need to worry!” Shen Tao said.
The Fat Guy and Fei Fei got into the car first, and then Wang Jun walked up to me and handed me an envelope. After saying congratulations, he hopped into the car as well.
“Remember, this place is everyone’s base now. Come by whenever you have time,” I called out to those inside the car.
The Fat Guy grinned and said, “Ling Feng, I won’t hold back. I’ll be sure to come by and bother you often!”
After sending them off, Ruo Yu and I headed home while Jiang Hai pulled Fo Zhang along behind us.
As soon as I opened the door, a cool breeze rushed in. I couldn’t help but shiver.
What the heck? Was there an earthquake? Everything that had been neatly arranged was now scattered on the floor, and my newly bought potted plants were smashed to pieces.
My buzz instantly faded. What on earth? Was this some kind of challenge?
Just as I was scanning the area, the Lucky Cat on the table by the door moved!
Congratulations and prosperity…
"Congratulations and prosperity..."
I finally realized something was off. When I entered the room, everything on the table, regardless of weight or size, had fallen to the ground.
Only the Lucky Cat remained standing in its original position!
As I glanced over, I noticed that the Lucky Cat seemed to be mocking me, a slight smirk playing at the corners of its mouth.
I rubbed my eyes; this was outrageous! In broad daylight, it dared to cause trouble. And in my meticulously tidied home!
This was going too far!
When the furniture store owner gifted me this Lucky Cat, I sensed something was amiss. If he wasn't even going to help deliver it, why give me anything at all? He didn't seem like the type to do such things!
Perhaps he was bitter about being haggled down too much and wanted to play a prank or get back at me?
I reached out to grab the Lucky Cat and intended to smash it onto the floor.
To my surprise, it had some tricks up its sleeve and attempted to possess me in order to save itself.
But it had chosen the wrong person. I silently recited the Six Character Mantra to repel it and then slipped an obsidian bracelet around the Lucky Cat's neck.
"Are you moving? Go ahead, move! Aren't you supposed to be powerful? How dare you mess up my home?" I shouted at the Lucky Cat.
Just as I was about to smash it into pieces, a faint figure of a child appeared before me.
The child looked about four or five years old, sucking on their finger and gazing at me with tearful eyes.
“Brother, it’s too dark in here. I just want to go out and play. I didn’t mean to break anything!” the child said in a soft, innocent voice.
Fo Zhang immediately sensed something was off and jumped onto my shoulder, baring its teeth and making strange noises at the child.
The child seemed frightened by Fo Zhang and retreated back into the Lucky Cat.
I said to Fo Zhang, “Go on, take the child upstairs to play!”
Although Fo Zhang was reluctant, it still grumbled and followed the child upstairs.
When a person dies, they become a ghost. If they cannot be reincarnated, it is either because they have lingering attachments that prevent them from entering the cycle of rebirth, or they are trapped by someone using a Secret Technique.
In this case, it seemed more likely that the latter was true. The thought of this made my anger simmer.
After all, such a young child, who knows nothing, had been forced into the body of the Lucky Cat like this!
It was truly cruel!
The child appeared to be frightened and didn’t come out after hiding inside.
As Ruo Yu and I tidied up the room, we speculated about the child’s ordeal.
Once everything was in order, I reached into my pocket and discovered a letter that Wang Jun had slipped to me before leaving.
The letter was somewhat crumpled. I opened the envelope and pulled out the letter paper, only to be stunned!
This letter was actually written by Zhou Shu! At this moment, it had already been over a week since Zhou Shu passed away.
Since Zhou Shu had no other relatives, the arrangements for his funeral were simple. I had accompanied Wang Jun to see him off for the last time during his cremation.
After reading the letter, I felt a sharp pain in my heart.
Zhou Shu was truly pitiful!
Years ago, Zhou Shu's son was framed by a wealthy classmate while studying abroad, accused of assaulting a female student. In truth, it was the wealthy classmate's doing. To protect his son, the wealthy man threatened the female student's family, forcing her to change her testimony. It was Zhou Shu's son who suffered for it!
Feeling wronged, Zhou Shu's son returned home. However, Zhou Shu, who had lived an honest life, could not bear the shame of such a scandal and, in a moment of rage, ended up killing his own son.
Later, Zhou Shu's wife went mad and ran away, never to return.
Zhou Shu sealed his son's body within the wall. It wasn't until many years later, when the truth was finally uncovered, that Zhou Shu realized he had wronged his son.
And my words, "I never hated him," became the last straw that broke Zhou Shu.
That night, he chose to end his life, seeking liberation from endless regret.
