To avoid alarming the enemy, we left the city and entered a realm of darkness, the bright lights fading behind us. The only illumination came from the car's headlights, casting beams of light that made the rows of white poplar trees appear like ghostly figures standing on either side of the dirt road.
The metal-clad car felt like it was traversing a haunted path surrounded by vengeful spirits.
Halfway through our journey, Solemn pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the engine. Instantly, darkness enveloped us. Solemn said, "I can only take you this far. Beyond this point, there may be sentinels."
I nodded and got out of the car with Ruo Yu, blending into the shadows. Solemn leaned out of the vehicle and said, "Ling Feng, while I have confidence in you, remember to act within your limits. Your safety is paramount."
With unwavering confidence, I replied, "Don't worry. I’ll be careful. Wait for our good news."
This wasn't just empty bravado. Ever since I had purified the numerous Yuan Hun within that Asura Demon, I had awakened to find that the liquid Buddha Sound in my Dan Tian had coalesced into a spherical form, resembling a glass marble, floating within my Dan Tian and spinning with a golden glow.
Ruo Yu, being a beast at heart and adept at moving in darkness, inspired me to suggest, "Ruo Yu, how about we race to see who reaches the Pig Farm first?"
"Let’s race! I might not match you in other areas, but running is my forte. Four legs definitely have an advantage over two," Ruo Yu replied with a deep voice.
I chuckled and said, "Alright then. Let’s settle this with action."
Ready! Go!
As soon as I finished speaking, Ruo Yu shot forward like an arrow released from a bow, transforming into her true form and sprinting ahead. Not wanting to fall behind, I activated my Great Shift technique and pursued her. Previously, my Fo Xi in the Dan Tian was insufficient for prolonged use of such techniques; now it seemed that quantity had transformed into quality, making it surprisingly effortless.
In no time at all, we covered the ten-plus kilometers. A pungent odor wafted toward us; despite attempts to mask it with spices, the Pig Farm's foul stench was unmistakable.
The outline of the Pig Farm emerged from the darkness as Ruo Yu and I slowed our pace and cautiously advanced. Earlier on our route, we had encountered three groups of sentinels; fortunately, we were quick and managed to avoid detection. However, as we drew closer, it seemed that the guards were inexplicably relaxed.
I paused in suspicion; as the saying goes, "When things seem unusual, there must be something amiss." Just as I lifted my foot to move forward again, I suddenly sensed what appeared to be Gui Wu ahead. The surrounding malevolence felt significantly denser than before.
I smirked and taunted, "So you were waiting here! No wonder the guards are so lax."
I pulled out an Invisibility Talisman and handed one to Ruo Yu. The talismans could conceal our yang energy; though their effect wouldn’t last long, it would suffice for us to reach the Pig Farm.
I raised my finger to Ruo Yu and counted down: one, two, three!
I suddenly accelerated through the area, finally feeling relieved as I reached the wall of the Pig Farm. However, a chorus of barking erupted from within, likely from several dogs, and judging by the sound, they were probably large Wolfdogs.
Ruo Yu and I quickly held our breath. As a wild beast in its prime, Ruo Yu naturally exuded some pressure, which gradually spread out. The dogs in the yard ceased their barking and lay down quietly.
From inside, someone could be heard cursing, “If you keep barking, I’ll chop you up tomorrow night and make a dog meat hotpot!” The person seemed to think the dogs understood him, chuckling, “These dogs are clever; I see my words have made an impression. If they don’t bark, they won’t bark. Good dogs!”
Once the noise inside settled down a bit, Ruo Yu and I stood up. With a running start, we climbed over the yard wall and landed inside. As soon as I steadied myself, I noticed pairs of glowing eyes in the darkness—there were probably five or six of them.
Fortunately, with Ruo Yu by my side, the dogs merely lay on the ground, whimpering softly without daring to move.
We briefly glanced around the Pig Farm but didn’t pay much attention; after all, it was filled with pigs, and the smell was truly unbearable.
On the cement ground outside the processing plant lay patches of blood. Even from a distance, a strong metallic scent filled the air—this was likely where the pigs were slaughtered before being sent for processing.
Adjacent to the processing plant was a row of single-story houses where a few people seemed to live. Those working in the plant were local villagers who came and went at early hours.
Ruo Yu and I quietly approached to listen near a corner. To our surprise, as we got closer, we heard some rather embarrassing sounds—a man’s gruff voice mingling with a woman’s moans. Just as things reached a peak, everything abruptly stopped.
After a moment, there were sounds of movement followed by conversation.
“Brother Xing, when can we leave this hellhole? I can’t stand this damned smell any longer!” The woman’s voice was sultry and somewhat familiar, though I couldn’t quite place it.
The man seemed to kiss her and comforted her, “My dear, do you think I want to stay here? If it weren’t for Master’s repeated instructions to guard this place and ensure nothing goes wrong, I would have left long ago.”
“Sounds like Master really trusts you,” the woman teased.
The man sighed and replied, “There are only so many capable people in our sect. Master’s position will definitely be mine in the future.”
The woman added, “That might not be easy; your sister is no pushover.”
Then there was another round of kissing sounds—loud smacking noises followed by intimate whispers that made my skin crawl. It was all just too nauseating.
I was just a novice who had never experienced such things before. The spring palace was right in front of me, and I felt a stirring in my heart, causing my breath to quicken slightly.
The person inside was alert and shouted, "Who’s out there?"
Then he suddenly leaped out of the window. I didn’t expect him to be so fast, and after our eyes met, I ran outside.
I wasn’t sure if he recognized me, but I definitely recognized him.
It turned out to be an old acquaintance. He was one of the twin disciples of the Azure Bat King, whom I had crossed paths with during the incident at the reservoir when we fought over the treasure. His name was Xia Xing.
I felt a sense of dread; since this place was connected to the Evil Spirit Cult, things were bound to get complicated. After meeting up with Ruo Yu, I whispered, "Let’s split up. Remember, these people are linked to the Evil Spirit Cult! One of us must get the message out."
After climbing over the courtyard wall, Ruo Yu and I went our separate ways. It seemed Xia Xing had fired a signal arrow; lights began to illuminate around us, accompanied by hurried footsteps.
