"I'd like to introduce someone. This is my senior brother, White Robert. Alice, what do you think of him?" Mary said with a smile.
Alice looked at White and replied with a faint smile, "He's quite handsome; his looks are acceptable."
"That's good to hear. How about this, Alice? You can chat with Senior Brother White while Mi Wei Er and I go shopping," Mary suggested, clearly not wanting to be a third wheel.
"No need for that, Mary. The reason I came here is actually because of an unwanted request," Alice said, looking a bit embarrassed.
"What is it?" Mary asked, puzzled.
"I won't hide it. The main reason I'm here today is that I want to borrow your senior brother for a bit," Alice explained.
"Borrow?" Mary was confused.
"I want White to pretend to be my boyfriend and accompany me to meet my grandfather," Alice said.
"Why pretend? You could just have Senior Brother White be your real boyfriend," Mary remarked, caught off guard by Alice's request.
"If White isn't willing, I won't force him. I can find someone else," Alice replied.
"I’m willing," White suddenly interjected.
"Alice, are you being pressured by your family to marry someone you don't like?" Mary asked.
Alice nodded.
"Tell us more about what's going on," Mary said, her curiosity piqued.
"Mary, I can't say too much about it. White, just come back with me to meet my grandfather. If you complete this task, we can be friends," Alice stated.
"Don't worry; acting is my specialty. However, since I'm helping you out this time, you need to help me too. I'm being pressured into marriage by my family and it's driving me crazy. You have to pretend to be my girlfriend and come home with me tonight," White said with a grin.
"Sure, then we're even," Alice agreed.
Seeing that Alice had accepted, a subtle smile appeared at the corner of White's mouth. After all, Alice hadn't yet entered society; how could she possibly be a match for someone as seasoned as White? He was setting a trap for her.
Mary watched from the side, rolling her eyes in silence. Since both of them were fine with it, what more could she say?
Alice was decisive in her actions. Seeing that White had no objections, she took him directly back home.
When Jon Delson saw his suddenly appearing grandson-in-law, he naturally knew it was fake but chose not to expose it. Since his granddaughter was so resistant towards Jiang Chen now, he felt it was best not to push her.
"Forget what I said yesterday," Jon Delson said somewhat disheartened. He meant well for his granddaughter, but her rejection of his good intentions left him feeling a bit disappointed.
Hearing her grandfather's words made Alice overjoyed; it seemed her plan was working effectively.
"Alice, I'll pick you up tonight to have dinner at my place," White said as he was leaving.
"Sure, you've helped me, and tonight I'll help you play the role of a good girlfriend," Alice replied without giving it much thought.
In the evening, White drove his sports car to pick up Alice for dinner with his family. There were no surprises; Alice thought that this matter would simply end there.
However, the next day, the headlines of news media across the United States were dominated by stories about her and White. The news featured a photo of her linking arms with White as they headed to the Robert Family for dinner. This made her quite angry, but she brushed it off, thinking it was just a coincidence that they had been photographed. Yet by noon, the Head of the Robert Family arrived with White to formally introduce himself, announcing plans for an engagement party for Alice and White.
