Wen Sheng asked Gao Ming, "Why hasn't Wang Lijuan come to class?" 0

Gao Ming thought for a moment and replied, "I think she's sick. She called me this morning to ask me to help her take a day off. After class this afternoon, let's go visit her!" 0

"Wang Lijuan is sick? But she seemed fine last Friday!" Wen Sheng appeared a bit worried, though he tried to act nonchalant. 0

"I saw her yesterday, and she was perfectly fine! She was busy playing games at the arcade! Ha ha!" Gao Ming laughed. "We'll find out this afternoon." 0

It seemed that was all they could do. Wang Lijuan was usually quite healthy; why would she suddenly fall ill? Wen Sheng thought to himself, recalling Wang Lijuan's beautiful face and charming smile. 0

During the lunch break, Wen Sheng suddenly remembered that he had promised to help Lin Lin deliver a letter. However, he had left it in his jacket pocket, which was at Gao Ming's house. Wen Sheng stood up from his seat and walked over to Gao Ming. Gao Ming was engrossed in a martial arts novel, as he often was during class, having been caught by Teacher Ma several times before. He still hadn't changed his ways, sneaking peeks even during other teachers' lessons. He would tear the pages into strips and hide them between his textbooks. He was so absorbed that he didn't notice Wen Sheng approaching. 0

Of course, many classmates were secretly laughing at him in the classroom. Wen Sheng reached his desk and tapped it lightly, smiling, "Alright! That's enough! The rain has stopped outside; let's go eat." 0

Gao Ming blinked in surprise, first looking at Wen Sheng and then glancing out the classroom window. The rain had indeed stopped, but the sky remained overcast with gray clouds drifting above. He turned around to see that most of the classmates were already leaving; those living nearby had gone home, while a few girls who lived farther away were still studying. Some boys who lived far away had dashed out right after class—some headed to the arcade to play games, others went online at internet cafes, some played billiards, and a few took their female classmates out shopping. Everyone cherished those three hours of free time, making the most of it since time was precious. As Mr. Lu Xun once said: wasting time is equivalent to wasting life! Everyone knew this. 0

Wen Sheng tugged at Gao Ming playfully, saying with a smile, "Get up; we're going to eat! Call Changqing; I need to talk to him about something—perfect timing for a little prank!" He looked around for Changqing but couldn't spot him. As soon as class ended, Changqing had rushed out to the internet café to copy guitar tabs; it was unclear whether he even knew how to read them. 0

Gao Ming stood up but quickly sat back down again, blushing as he said, "Wait! Just a minute." Embarrassed, he closed his book and stuffed it into his desk drawer before locking it. He took a deep breath, clearly flustered. It was obvious he had been reading some romantic fiction again—his face was flushed. 0

Wen Sheng playfully pulled him up again with a grin, saying, "Come on! I'm starving!" He continued tugging at him. 0

Gao Ming leaned back in his chair stubbornly and refused to get up; he was afraid the girls in the class would see his awkward situation. At that moment, some of the girls realized what was happening and giggled behind their hands, their faces turning redder. Gao Ming's face grew even hotter in response. 0

After a while, Gao Ming straightened up, bending slightly as he looked down to check if they were ready. Satisfied, he stood up fully and playfully punched Wen Sheng on the shoulder, scolding him with a smile, “What’s the rush? Waiting a bit longer won’t kill you! Let’s go to the internet café and find Changqing.” With that, he grabbed Wen Sheng and they dashed out of the classroom through the back door, both eager to catch Changqing. 0

Once outside, they headed straight to the nearest internet café, which was not very large and rather shabby, located about fifteen meters west of the school gate. It consisted of two rundown rooms. A wooden sign at the entrance bore the words "Internet Café" written in chalk. Inside, there were two rows of computers, all occupied by students. The room was dimly lit and filled with smoke from numerous cigarettes. 0

Changqing was sitting in the middle of the second row. Gao Ming quietly approached him and tapped him on the shoulder. Startled, Changqing glanced up from copying guitar tabs, his eyes slightly dazed as he smiled foolishly, “What brings you guys here?” 0

Gao Ming pulled him up with a grin, “Let’s go! You’re treating us to dinner!” 0

Changqing squinted at Wen Sheng behind him and asked with a smile, “What’s going on?” 0

Wen Sheng nodded but didn’t say anything. Confused, Gao Ming asked, “What’s going on?” 0

Changqing quickly interjected, “Don’t tell him! Hehe! Let’s go; I’m treating you both!” He shut down his computer and headed to the front to settle the bill with the owner. 0

Since he had just arrived and had only been there for less than half an hour, the owner charged him only fifty cents. If it had been someone else, it would have been a dollar. But Changqing was different; he was quite charming. The owner had a good impression of him. 0

Her name was Zhang Yun. She had just turned twenty this year and appeared quite mature for her age. She was reasonably attractive with an impressive figure that could easily catch anyone's eye. Her outfit was rather revealing as well. With shoulder-length hair and a slightly elongated face, she stood a bit shorter than Changqing. Her full lips were moist and inviting, complemented by her bright white teeth. 0

After paying, she discreetly pulled Changqing's hand for a moment. Wen Sheng noticed this and smirked mischievously, “Sister Yun! Changqing here is quite generous! Hehe, you know what I mean.” 0

Zhang Yun laughed and playfully patted Wen Sheng’s face, saying, “You’re just teasing your sister! If you had any skills…” Noticing Gao Ming's expression darkening slightly, she quickly changed the subject and smiled again, “Wen Sheng, come hang out sometime; I’ll give you a discount.” She winked at Wen Sheng as she spoke. 0

Wen Sheng chuckled and nodded. He seemed to understand quite well. 0

After leaving the internet café, Changqing grabbed a quick bite from a nearby stall, spending six yuan. Once he finished eating, he headed back to the internet café. 0

Wen Sheng watched Changqing's receding figure and thought about what Zhang Yun had just said to him. He looked up at the gray sky and couldn't help but smile. 0

Turning back to Gao Ming, he said, "Why don't we go check on Wang Lijuan now?" 0

Gao Ming teased Wen Sheng, "What's this? Are you feeling tender-hearted? Hehe, are you worried about your beloved?" 0

Wen Sheng blushed slightly and smiled as he defended himself, "It's not like that! There's nothing much going on right now! I just want to see her first; if I wait until tonight, she'll start nitpicking again!" 0

Gao Ming then advised Wen Sheng, "I know about what happened with Zhang Yun! If she asks you out, don’t go!" He added, "You can go if you want, but let me know first. You know you can't handle it alone." 0

Wen Sheng nodded with a chuckle, contemplating in his mind. He pulled Gao Ming along and said, "Let's go check on Wang Lijuan first!" 0
