She did not deny that Jiang Chen's martial arts skills were profound, but no matter how deep they were, it was impossible for him to contend with the Black Sky Assassins Organization. Ding Yan absentmindedly ate her meal, and Jiang Chen did not elaborate further. What Ding Yan did not realize was the immense fortune of being able to follow Jiang Chen; such an opportunity was something others could only dream of.
In everything, there is a concept of fate, and Ding Yan's chance encounter with Jiang Chen was her stroke of luck. Of course, if she were not an assassin, she would not have had this fortune at all.
After finishing their meal, Jiang Chen stood up to leave, but Ding Yan seemed reluctant.
"Come with me," Jiang Chen said.
"Where to?"
"To where I live."
"Can we not go? Or I can wait for you at Aodao. Having too much contact with you is really not good for me. If I go to your home, it might implicate your family as well. If I'm not mistaken, those who are after me may reach Shanghai tonight. Bringing me back would be like bringing a ticking time bomb; I really don't want to put you in danger," Ding Yan said earnestly, her tone almost pleading.
"Aren't you looking for your mother? If you don't come with me, you might not find her before someone kills you. If you want to live and find your mother, then follow me. Of course, I won't force you; the opportunity is in front of you. Think it over carefully—if you miss it, it will be gone forever." After saying this, Jiang Chen walked away without looking back.
Fate had presented itself to Ding Yan; if she did not seize it, it would only be a regret. Jiang Chen did not have the time to linger and explain further.
Seeing Jiang Chen walk away like that left Ding Yan stunned and speechless. She had initially wanted to keep her distance from him, but now she had changed her mind.
Ding Yan stood up and chased after Jiang Chen.
"I'll go with you," she said. Feeling alone and helpless in Huaxia, Jiang Chen's words gave her a glimmer of hope.
Jiang Chen smiled and hailed a taxi, taking them directly to the foot of You Jing Mountain before leading Ding Yan up the mountain on foot.
"You live on this mountain?" Ding Yan looked around; You Jing Mountain was lush and green. Although there were dim streetlights lining the path, it was eerily quiet. As an assassin, Ding Yan had a certain boldness; if she were an ordinary girl, she would likely be trembling in fear by now.
"There’s a villa halfway up the mountain where you'll stay as well. There are also a few of my disciples and a housekeeper living there; I'll introduce you to them shortly," Jiang Chen said.
"Okay." Hearing that there were others living in the villa eased some of Ding Yan's tension. For some reason, she felt uneasy about being alone with Jiang Chen; he gave off an inscrutable aura that was even more unsettling than that of the boss of the Black Sky Assassins Organization.
Jiang Chen moved quickly; even though Ding Yan was an assassin herself, she found herself slightly out of breath as they walked. Finally, ten minutes later, they arrived at the entrance of Quiet Villa.
Ding Yan was taken aback; this Quiet Villa was simply magnificent! To have such a luxurious villa in Shanghai meant that Jiang Chen's assets must be worth at least over a billion. Thinking about this made her look at Jiang Chen again. To be honest, from his attire alone, one would never guess he was wealthy—he was just too low-key.
"Let's go inside," Jiang Chen said as he opened the villa's grand door for Ding Yan.
"Wow, is it foggy?" As soon as Ding Yan stepped into the villa, she was startled by the mist swirling around them like a fairyland. However, this mist did not feel like ordinary fog; inhaling it felt refreshing rather than uncomfortable.
