Jiang Bai's expression darkened as he exchanged a glance with Song Huai, his eyes revealing certain suspicions. There weren't many people with such strength who were also so deeply loved; he must be one of those on the World Top Ten List.
Song Huai, feeling annoyed, said meaningfully, "So, you didn't abandon the traveler; you were afraid of being killed and running away?"
Yun Zhi Yue angrily grabbed Song Huai by the neck. "Who are you calling a coward? I'm the strange one here. Why would I be afraid of mere humans? Do you even know how to speak?"
Having received the expected answer, Song Huai didn't mind being choked. He gently coaxed, "I misspoke. Yue Yue is the strongest; anyone would kneel at your feet."
Not only Jiang Bai and Bai Miao Miao, but even Yun Zhi Yue felt a severe sense of discomfort, her face twitching in irritation. "Are you out of your mind? Who's Yue Yue? I'm the strange one! Do you even understand what 'strange' means? Has your brain short-circuited?"
Their deep-sea-like gazes drew closer, their lips nearly touching when Yun Zhi Yue leaned back wildly, her face flushed. "What are you doing? Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
Song Huai laughed, holding her tightly in his embrace. "If you want to kill me, you'll need to regain your strength first. So just behave for now."
Jiang Bai wore a black line on his face, wondering if this was some kind of romance drama. Meanwhile, Bai Miao Miao watched with a flushed face, feeling as if she was witnessing a sweet moment unfold.
Amidst the noise and commotion, they arrived at a fish pond on the edge of the village. This pond was particularly abundant with fish and was divided into several sections that looked like rice fields from afar. However, upon closer inspection, it was something else entirely.
Bai Miao Miao couldn't help but gag. The sight was unbearable for most people and sent chills down their spines.
In the muddy patches were patterned Huang Eels wriggling around; some were as thick as a child's finger while others were as thick as a man's arm. Huang Eels resembled snakes in their writhing and twisting movements, and in such dense numbers, it was uncomfortable for anyone to watch.
What made it even more nauseating was that villagers were present by the mud pit, using fishing nets to catch them as if assessing their size. Some even picked up wriggling Huang Eels and swallowed them whole. This shocking scene overwhelmed Bai Miao Miao; she couldn't hold back any longer and collapsed into Jiang Bai's arms, clinging tightly.
Jiang Bai thought to himself that this girl was truly timid; if she hadn't encountered a talking tour guide, she would have lost her life long ago while sitting in the tour guide's seat.
Well, he figured he might as well take advantage of the situation and enjoy the embrace.
Yun Zhi Yue silently watched the two cling to each other before suddenly asking, "Are you also one of those on the Top Ten List?"
Jiang Bai touched his little braid and replied confidently, "Of course! I am Jiang Bai, the man everyone is watching."
Bai Miao Miao was shocked and quickly released her grip. She was so frightened that her instinctive reaction might have been misinterpreted; she hoped this person wouldn’t think she had ulterior motives or was trying to seduce him, leading to her demise. That was not her intention at all. The individuals on the World Top Ten List had long been deified, and she knew she couldn't aspire to be among them.
Seeing Bai Miao Miao retreat step by step, Jiang Bai raised an eyebrow, intrigued. It was the first time he encountered a woman who, knowing his identity, wanted to distance herself.
Before he could speak, Yun Zhi Yue interjected, "Keep holding him. If he’s interested in you, your chances of survival will increase. Don’t you want to live?"
The air suddenly fell silent. Bai Miao Miao felt embarrassed and her mind became a jumble, but she mustered the courage to ask, "Yun Zhi Yue, can I hug you?"
Yun Zhi Yue rubbed his forehead. His feelings for Bai Miao Miao were special, but it wasn't out of kindness. This girl was the World Protagonist; she couldn’t die, or else the soul of the target would be exposed.
However, it seemed that this World Protagonist wasn’t quite normal either. Was there no one who could respect her peculiar identity?
