The Eldest Prince was taken aback, her eyes widening in disbelief as she looked at Qin Feng. "Do you really want to sit on that throne?" Her voice trembled slightly, clearly shaken by the revelation.
Qin Feng smiled lightly. "Is that not possible?"
The Eldest Prince regained her composure, her gaze fixed intensely on Qin Feng. "Are you serious?"
Qin Feng's eyes flickered, and she nodded slightly.
"Good." The Eldest Prince suddenly spoke up. "I will fully support you."
Qin Feng was momentarily stunned, looking at the Eldest Prince with a complex expression, just about to say something when a sharp voice from the eunuch echoed through the hall. "Newly Crowned Scholar, Qin Feng, requests an audience!"
Qin Feng straightened her posture. "I need to go in now."
"I'll accompany you," the Eldest Prince immediately replied.
Qin Feng nodded, with the Eldest Prince leading the way as they stepped inside.
As they entered, everyone paused in surprise. "Why is the Eldest Prince here?"
The old emperor's heart raced, though it was not unexpected. It would have been unusual if she hadn’t come.
The ministers quickly bowed to the Eldest Prince, greeting her as Prince Changgong.
"Proceed," the Eldest Prince said indifferently.
She then turned to the old emperor and slightly cupped her hands. "Brother Emperor."
The old emperor smiled warmly. "You've arrived? Someone, grant her a seat."
The Eldest Prince walked over and sat down directly.
The officials exchanged glances, all aware of the Eldest Prince's unique status; even the emperor had no authority over her.
At this moment, Qin Feng stood in the center, and the old emperor's gaze fell upon her.
The ministers also turned their attention to Qin Feng, curiosity evident in their eyes.
The Eldest Prince entered alongside him; could they have some connection?
Qin Feng clasped his hands and bowed, saying, "Your Majesty, I pay my respects."
After bending down, he straightened up and met the old emperor's gaze directly.
The eunuch beside the emperor frowned, about to reprimand him, but suddenly thought better of it and glanced at the Eldest Prince.
Seeing that icy stare sent a shiver down his spine; the last eunuch who had been reprimanded had been killed by the Eldest Prince.
He dared not make any further moves and stood quietly to the side, not even daring to look at the Eldest Prince.
The ministers were also taken aback by Qin Feng's audacity; how bold he was to look at the emperor like that.
A cold glint flashed in the old emperor's eyes as he addressed Qin Feng, "Do you know why I summoned you today?"
Qin Feng shook his head. "I do not know, Your Majesty."
"Well, I have read your writings. They are quite good; it would not be an exaggeration to say you are talented," the old emperor said slowly.
Qin Feng shook his head again. "Your Majesty overpraises me."
The ministers exchanged strange looks at Qin Feng; did this young man have no sense of reverence? The emperor praised him, and yet he remained humble.
The old emperor was not angry; instead, he continued, "Therefore, I believe keeping you in the capital is a waste."
Everyone instantly understood the emperor's meaning—he intended to expel him from the capital!
They knew that a top scholar was supposed to remain in the capital for Hanlin Academy.
They couldn't help but feel a bit sympathetic towards Qin Feng; being sent away meant a future as a local official, which wasn't promising at all.
However, Qin Feng's eyes lit up; he had indeed guessed correctly about the Eldest Prince's intentions. This was exactly what he wanted.
Qin Feng remained silent, simply watching the old emperor.
The emperor glanced at the Eldest Prince and saw her sitting there with a cold expression; he let out a slight sigh of relief.
He then continued, "You will first serve as the magistrate of Guobei County. You may appoint your own County Magistrate and are allowed to form local troops."
