Qin Wan'er appeared somewhat reserved, while Qi seemed quite familiar with the surroundings. The impact of today had been significant for her, and she had yet to fully digest it. She responded mechanically, still processing everything.
Qin Feng understood that Qin Wan'er needed some time to adjust. He planned to stay at Changfu for the next few days, allowing Qin Wan'er to get closer to Chang. After all, some matters were easier to discuss among women; as a man, there were many things he couldn't directly say to Qin Wan'er.
Meanwhile, in Difu, Hei Jiao and Black Mountain Old Demon arrived at the gates of the underworld. Black Mountain Old Demon was still in disbelief. "Brother, did you really convince Lu Pan and the others?" he asked incredulously. "How could they be so untrusting? The last time I approached them, they were so arrogant that they nearly got into a fight with me."
Hei Jiao chuckled. "Of course it's true. Lu Pan and Cui Pan are not bad."
Black Mountain Old Demon twitched his cheek in response. "Not bad? How did you come to that conclusion? They're just two stones in a latrine—stinky and hard!"
He even doubted whether he had encountered the same individuals as Hei Jiao.
They smoothly entered the gates of the underworld, likely because Lu Pan and his companions had given them a heads-up; no one bothered them.
At this point, Black Mountain Old Demon began to believe it a little.
In front of the Judge's Hall, Lu Pan and Cui Pan still stood there, seemingly unmoved. Upon seeing Hei Jiao and Black Mountain Old Demon approach, their expressions grew serious.
"Haha, Lu Pan, Cui Pan, do you really agree to ally with us?" Black Mountain Old Demon couldn't help but ask as he spotted them.
Cui Pan glanced at Hei Jiao and then back at Black Mountain Old Demon, feeling quite perplexed. How had Black Mountain Old Demon managed to win over Hei Jiao? It seemed like pure luck.
Lu Pan stepped forward and coldly snorted. "Black Mountain Old Demon..."
"We are here because of the Dragon King beside you. It has nothing to do with you."
The Black Mountain Old Demon was taken aback, incredulously turning to Hei Jiao. "How can you be the Dragon King?"
Hei Jiao chuckled and replied, "I forgot to mention, I have ascended to become a Jiao Long." His tone was casual, as if discussing the weather.
"What?" The Black Mountain Old Demon stepped back in shock, staring at Hei Jiao in disbelief.
"So soon?" he stammered, beginning to sense the change.
He quickly realized that he could no longer see through Hei Jiao's cultivation level, and it gave him an unsettling feeling of danger.
Lu Pan and Cui Pan exchanged glances; even the Black Mountain Old Demon seemed unaware. Did this mean that Hei Jiao had sought them out right after his breakthrough?
After a moment of reflection, the Black Mountain Old Demon recalled that he hadn't really made things difficult for Hei Jiao, which eased his tension slightly.
"Um, little brother, why don't you take on the title of Black Mountain King?" the Black Mountain Old Demon suggested.
Hei Jiao paused for a moment before shaking his head. "No need, big brother. The Black Mountain is your territory; what would I do with it?"
Then he added with a teasing smile, "What’s wrong? Now that my cultivation is higher, you don’t recognize me as your brother anymore?"
The Black Mountain Old Demon stared at Hei Jiao in astonishment, his eyes suddenly reddening. "Good, good! It seems I didn’t mistake my brother after all."
Saying this, he moved to embrace Hei Jiao in excitement.
Hei Jiao stepped back quickly and said, "Big brother, you will definitely help me in the future, right?"
The Black Mountain Old Demon nodded repeatedly, his expression serious. "Of course."
"Then that’s settled," Hei Jiao waved his hand dismissively.
Lu Pan and Cui Pan were surprised by how close the two were.
Hei Jiao looked at Cui Pan and Lu Pan. "Let’s get down to business first."
