As time passed, the Dawn Project gradually entered a critical phase. The Alliance team had destroyed several key strongholds, and the Old communication network was becoming increasingly paralyzed, with its command structure suffering severe damage. At this moment, the Old had already lost most of its intelligence sources and was thrown into temporary chaos by the sudden attacks.
However, just as the Alliance members were feeling invigorated by this victory, the Old launched a fiercer counterattack. He ordered the heavy armed forces within the Special Zone to attempt to annihilate the core group of the Alliance in one fell swoop. Reinforcements from special task forces quickly arrived at every intersection, like wolves lurking in the dark, ready to devour the lives of the resistors.
Zhao Yunshan realized the urgency of the situation and immediately ordered all teams to retreat to avoid falling into an Old trap. However, the retreat did not go smoothly. The Old forces fully sealed off their escape routes, and the Alliance members faced continuous attacks during their withdrawal, resulting in increasing casualties.
At that moment, an Alliance member hurriedly entered the monitoring room and reported to Zhao Yunshan: "Commander, we intercepted a new directive from the Old. It seems he is planning a more extreme operation."

The member produced a recently intercepted intelligence report and whispered: "The Old seems to be planning to deploy a batch of illegally obtained Biochemical Weapons, intending to detonate them at key strongholds to create panic and suppress the actions of the Alliance."
This sudden news struck everyone in the room like a bolt from the blue. The deployment of Biochemical Weapons would cause immeasurable damage, plunging the entire Special Zone into chaos and terror.
"This madman!" Erin said angrily in a low voice, her eyes glinting with cold light. She had never expected that the Old would resort to such desperate measures, willing to sacrifice countless lives to preserve his own position.
Chen Rui took a deep breath and calmly analyzed: "We must stop him before he launches this operation. We need to locate and destroy these Biochemical Weapons; otherwise, both the Alliance and innocent civilians will suffer greatly."
Zhao Yunshan nodded and quickly arranged for the next course of action: "We need to send out a small team specifically tasked with finding the storage locations of these Biochemical Weapons. Along their way, Chen Rui and Erin remained highly vigilant as they navigated through underground passages and abandoned buildings in the Special Zone. According to intelligence reports, it was highly likely that the storage location for Biochemical Weapons was concealed within a secret warehouse underground.
After several hours, they finally located their target. It was an old industrial plant that appeared dilapidated on the outside but was heavily fortified inside, surrounded by layers of defenses set up by Old's subordinates.
"It seems our intelligence was correct; Biochemical Weapons are indeed hidden here," Erin said quietly, her gaze reflecting a cold determination.
Chen Rui assessed their surroundings and quickly formulated an action plan: "We’ll split up to cover each other. Once we find Wu Lan, I’ll handle destruction while you focus on retreat." He knew time was of the essence; they needed to strike decisively.
The two nodded at each other before stealthily entering the plant. The dawn's faint light streamed through the windows onto Chen Rui's face; his eyes were filled with unwavering resolve as he silently vowed: "No matter what price must be paid, I will stop this disaster from occurring."
