The first rays of dawn broke through the clouds, casting light over the Special Zone, yet they could not dispel the tense atmosphere that hung in the air. The residents of the Special Zone had long sensed the impending storm; the streets were deserted, shops were closed, and the usual clamor was replaced by an unsettling silence. The Alliance Warriors stood alert at their posts, knowing that this would be a decisive battle for the fate of the Special Zone.
Inside the Alliance Headquarters, Chen Rui, Erin, and Zhao Yunshan, among other core members, gathered around a tactical table, scrutinizing every defensive point on the map of the Special Zone. They had established multiple layers of defense and had positioned snipers and fire support teams at key locations. Despite their thorough preparations, a hint of tension lingered on each face.
"This time, we must give it our all," Erin whispered, her voice tinged with fatigue and anxiety. "His power should not be underestimated; we need to be ready for the worst-case scenario at all times."
Zhao Yunshan nodded in agreement. "Although morale is high within the Alliance, our resources are limited. If the Old Troops breach our first line of defense, the ensuing battle will become even more challenging."
Chen Rui took a deep breath, his gaze resolutely fixed on the various defensive points on the map. "We have no retreat left; this battle must end in victory. The people are counting on us to triumph and free them from Old's oppression."
As the sun rose higher in the sky, the Old Troops began to converge on critical intersections within the Special Zone. Armored vehicles, advanced weaponry, and soldiers stood ready for action. As the elite force under Old's command, they were all well-trained and equipped with the most advanced gear available in the Special Zone. This operation aimed to annihilate all of the Alliance's forces.
The battle was ignited by a piercing explosion. The Old Troops launched a fierce assault on the outer defenses of the Alliance, a torrential downpour of bullets raining down as dust filled the air. The Alliance Warriors held their ground fiercely, retaliating with all their might as flames erupted around them; soldiers from both sides fell and rose again amidst an exceptionally intense conflict.
On the front lines, Zhao Yunshan directed fire while anxiously monitoring the situation. The Alliance's positions were being steadily compressed under enemy bombardment as their first line of defense began to crumble. With their defenses breached, the Alliance Warriors retreated to their second line of defense to prepare for continued resistance.
During the fighting at this second line, Chen Rui personally led his team into action to organize a counterattack. They utilized narrow alleys and concealed buildings to draw the Old Troops into complex terrain where they could eliminate them one by one. The Alliance squads dispersed into various corners, engaging in guerrilla warfare while making full use of their surroundings and cover to hinder enemy advancement.
The battle reached a fever pitch. Although outnumbered and outgunned, the Old Troops faced repeated setbacks against the Alliance's agile tactics. Alliance snipers stationed at high vantage points delivered precise shots that continually diminished enemy command capabilities. Every street corner and alleyway became a battlefield where soldiers fought fiercely for survival amidst a cacophony of gunfire and explosions.
However, under orders from their frontline commander, Old's forces gradually adjusted their strategy. They began using armored vehicles to shield infantry as they pushed closer to the core positions of the Alliance. At this moment, resources and ammunition for the Alliance were running low, and soldiers on the second line were becoming increasingly exhausted.
As enemy forces drew nearer to headquarters, Erin decisively ordered the activation of pre-set traps. With her command given, multiple explosive charges detonated simultaneously throughout the streets, sending massive fireballs tearing through enemy armored vehicles and throwing infantry formations into chaos. Seizing this opportunity, Alliance firepower surged forth, forcing the Old Troops to temporarily retreat and reorganize their attack.
