After the plan of the Ghost Shadow forces was thwarted, the Special Zone returned to a brief calm, but Chen Rui knew that this was merely the calm before the storm. As the interrogation deepened, more unsettling information surfaced: the behind-the-scenes supporters of the Ghost Shadow came from a vast transnational force known as the Shadow Alliance.
The core figure of the Shadow Alliance was codenamed Black Hawk. He had long been active in various border regions of countries, skilled in manipulating public sentiment and orchestrating dark conspiracies, making him a mysterious and dangerous individual. Intelligence indicated that the Ghost Shadow was merely a branch of the Shadow Alliance within the Special Zone, while Black Hawk was the supreme commander of the entire organization. His ultimate goal was to overthrow current regional governments and establish a new order completely controlled by the Shadow Alliance.
This meant that the Special Zone would not only face the Ghost Shadow but also a vast enemy network spread across the globe. Chen Rui realized that future battles for the Special Zone would no longer be simple cleanups but a full-scale confrontation with an unfathomable network of power.
One late night, Chen Rui, Erin, and Zhao Yunshan convened an emergency meeting in the intelligence room at Alliance Headquarters to discuss countermeasures. The electronic screen on the wall displayed a complex and extensive network of the Shadow Alliance, marking their strongholds and operational routes.
"If the Ghost Shadow is just a branch of the Shadow Alliance, then our previous actions have only scratched the surface," Erin said solemnly. "Black Hawk is too mysterious, and his movements are covert; it's difficult for us to pinpoint his exact location."
Zhao Yunshan frowned as he carefully studied the information on the screen. "The information we currently possess is too limited. Relying solely on these details makes it hard to locate Black Hawk's whereabouts. Perhaps we need some external support."
Chen Rui nodded thoughtfully and suggested, "Maybe we can reach out to other regional counter-terrorism organizations to form a cross-border intelligence network and share information. The Shadow Alliance's influence spans globally; we cannot rely solely on our own strength to confront them."
After discussion, the three decided to submit an application to the highest command of the alliance, seeking cooperation with intelligence agencies from various regions to jointly combat the Shadow Alliance. At the same time, they resolved to strengthen defenses within the Special Zone to prevent any resurgence of attacks from remnants of the Ghost Shadow.
In the following days, the alliance sprang into action, quickly establishing contact with other regional intelligence agencies to share information about the Shadow Alliance. Meanwhile, Chen Rui arranged for multiple elite squads within the Special Zone to patrol and prevent any counterattacks from Ghost Shadow remnants.
However, during this tense preparation period, an unexpected figure appeared in the Special Zone. This person claimed to be Black Hawk's deputy and expressed a willingness to cooperate with the alliance by providing internal intelligence on the Shadow Alliance. His name was Lock, and his arrival shocked everyone in the alliance.
Chen Rui, Erin, and Zhao Yunshan brought Lock into Alliance Headquarters for cautious questioning. Lock was a middle-aged man dressed simply with a stern expression. He remained calm in the interrogation room and did not hide his identity: "I am a member of the Shadow Alliance, one of Black Hawk's deputies."
Chen Rui coldly asked, "If you are Black Hawk's deputy, why betray him? What reason do we have to trust you?"
Lock smiled slightly, his eyes glinting with cunning. "I do not intend to betray Black Hawk; rather, I seek a better ally. Black Hawk's ideals are overly ambitious; he only thinks about destruction and conquest while I hope to establish a truly stable order. I know you are looking for Black Hawk and am aware of his upcoming plans. If we cooperate, you will have a chance to defeat him."
Erin couldn't help but scoff. "Do you think we would trust a traitor from the Shadow Alliance?"
Lock's expression remained calm. "I do not need your trust; I only need your temporary cooperation. If you refuse to cooperate, Black Hawk's plans will bring destruction upon the entire Special Zone. Moreover, his next target is not just here; it could affect the entire nation."
