Chen Rui and Erin escaped the predicament of the underground facility, but they did not let their guard down. However, the crisis within the Special Zone was far from resolved. As the Shadow Operation progressed, various defense systems within the Special Zone began to face unprecedented pressure. Almost all security vulnerabilities were meticulously targeted, and even nighttime patrol alarms started malfunctioning, frequently triggering false signals that threw their operations into chaos.
These vulnerabilities were not coincidental. Erin pointed at the data displayed on her computer screen, indicating that every system's weakness had been precisely identified; the hackers clearly had an intimate understanding of their internal network.

"What lead?" Chen Rui responded immediately.
"According to our analysis, certain high-level officials in the Special Zone have action patterns that closely overlap with those of the Shadow Alliance. It appears there may be internal personnel cooperating with enemy actions," the command center continued. "We initially suspect that a high-ranking individual within the Special Zone may have direct connections to the Shadow Alliance and could even be behind this conspiracy."
This news was undoubtedly a thunderbolt from a clear sky. A chill rose in Chen Rui's heart as all investigation leads and intelligence analysis finally pointed towards high-ranking officials in the Special Zone. The enemy had not only infiltrated the most basic facilities and personnel but had also penetrated into decision-making levels.
"We need to identify this mole," Chen Rui clenched his fists, his gaze resolute. "If the enemy has already taken control of high-ranking officials, then every step we take will be influenced by them; we could even become their pawns."
Erin continued to review high-level action records in an attempt to find connections among them. Meanwhile, Chen Rui contacted the security department of the Special Zone, requesting a thorough investigation of all high-ranking officials, especially those who had interacted with external parties.
However, as their investigation deepened, things became increasingly complicated. The activity patterns of all high-ranking officials seemed to have reasonable explanations; every piece of evidence pointed to certain suspicions but could not directly prove who was behind it all. Chen Rui felt increasingly that matters were far more complex than they had imagined.
At that moment, Erin discovered a subtle anomaly. By deeply analyzing surveillance data, she found that one Senior Commander’s travel patterns frequently coincided with contacts from the Shadow Alliance during a specific time frame. Even more shocking was that this commander had been abruptly appointed as head of an important project in the Special Zone months ago—one that involved core security defense systems.
"This can't be a coincidence," Erin said uneasily. "He must know all our defenses and weaknesses."
Chen Rui took a deep breath, a fierce glint flashing in his eyes. "We must find evidence before he acts again; we can't let him escape this time."
The two quickly formulated an action plan to track every move of this Senior Commander. Through thorough investigation and meticulous monitoring, they finally uncovered crucial evidence: this commander was maintaining secret communications with a senior member of the Shadow Alliance. Through this covert connection, all confidential information and defense plans of the Special Zone were being leaked one by one.
Just as they prepared to report this information to higher-ups, Chen Rui suddenly received an anonymous warning: "You're too late; the game has just begun."
This message once again put Chen Rui and Erin on high alert, sensing that the conspiracy behind it all was far from over. As they delved deeper into their investigation, more and more doubts surfaced while the enemy remained silently hidden in the shadows, manipulating everything within the Special Zone.
Chen Rui knew that the Shadow Alliance had pushed them into a corner and that the real crisis was only just beginning.
