After obtaining the data from the communication device, Chen Rui and Erin immediately returned to the Security Committee of the Special Zone. They knew that this information was enough to shake the very foundations of the Special Zone's leadership. With the extensive infiltration of the Shadow Alliance, they had to be especially cautious to ensure that this information would not be discovered or destroyed by the enemy before it was submitted.
In the dimly lit intelligence analysis room, Erin quickly began analyzing the data. After decoding it, the documents revealed a wealth of details about the activities of the Shadow Alliance within the Special Zone, including not only the enemy's command network but also exposing several high-ranking officials within the Special Zone who were in collusion with them. Seeing those familiar names sent a shockwave through Chen Rui; these were people he had once trusted and respected.
He never imagined their reach extended this far. Erin's voice was filled with anger as she declared that these individuals were not only traitors but also malignant tumors lurking within the Special Zone.
Chen Rui nodded, his tone grim: "These people are more terrifying than external enemies. It is precisely because of their cover that the Shadow Alliance has been able to infiltrate repeatedly. We must submit this information to the committee as soon as possible and strive to capture them all."
Just then, an unexpected situation arose. Chen Rui and Erin received an urgent notification requiring them to immediately report to the Review Department within the Special Zone for a routine mission investigation. This sudden order raised their alarms. Chen Rui sensed that this might be a sign that the enemy had discovered their actions and was attempting to delay or control them at a critical moment.
"It seems our actions have drawn the enemy's attention," Chen Rui quickly analyzed. "If we go to the Review Department now, we might be captured."
Erin furrowed her brow: "If we don’t go, it will raise even greater suspicion. The enemy must have set a trap, waiting for us to fall into it."
Faced with this dilemma, Chen Rui calmly thought for a moment before deciding to split their efforts. He transferred all evidence onto a secure storage device and entrusted it to Erin for safekeeping while he himself would head to the Review Department to deal with the investigation, buying time and diverting the enemy's attention.
"Erin, you must ensure that this evidence is kept safe at all costs. If anything happens to me, make sure these materials reach the Security Committee," Chen Rui instructed firmly, his gaze resolute.
Erin looked at him and nodded, a hint of unease in her eyes. She quickly suppressed her emotions and whispered, "I will ensure that I complete my mission. You must be careful too."
After parting ways, Chen Rui made his way alone to the Review Department. Along the way, he deliberately slowed his pace to buy more time for Erin to safely deliver the data. He understood that he was walking into a potential trap; at this moment, he had no choice but to face it head-on.
Inside the Review Department's office, Chen Rui was led into a dimly lit small room where several Examiners sat across from him with serious expressions. The documents in their hands seemed to contain records of all his recent activities, including patrols within the Special Zone and his secret meetings with Erin, even capturing brief conversations he had with several unknown individuals.
"Chen Rui, according to our investigation, you have exhibited a series of unusual behaviors recently," one Examiner said coldly. "The security situation in the Special Zone is tense; we must conduct routine investigations on anyone displaying suspicious behavior. We hope you can understand."
