However, she soon realized that she was being watched. As she passed through a security checkpoint, Erin suddenly noticed several figures swiftly approaching, their eyes filled with hostility. Alerted, she understood that she needed to shake off these pursuers quickly to ensure the safety of the evidence.
Erin decided to adopt a roundabout tactic, deliberately weaving through several complex corridors to lead her pursuers into an open underground floor. In this narrow and dim space, she finally confronted her enemies head-on. They were clearly insiders of the Special Zone, skilled and well-equipped, indicating they had been prepared for this encounter.
Erin knew that it was impossible for her to fend off all her enemies in this situation; her only option was to buy time as much as possible. She quickly utilized her surroundings to engage in guerrilla tactics, constantly disrupting their formation. At the same time, she secretly hid the storage device in a ventilation shaft on the floor, ensuring that if she were captured, the evidence would not be discovered by her enemies.
After several rounds of intense fighting, Erin ultimately succumbed to exhaustion and was captured. The enemies took her back to the interrogation room in the Special Zone, attempting to force her to reveal the whereabouts of the evidence. Despite their threats, she remained calm and did not disclose any information.
On the other side, Chen Rui was still maneuvering in the Review Department's investigation room when he finally managed to escape with the covert assistance of a loyal colleague within the Special Zone. He quickly contacted the Security Committee of the Special Zone and informed them about Erin's situation and the enemy's plot, urging them to take action as soon as possible.
With intervention from high-level officials in the Security Committee, a large-scale search operation swiftly commenced within the Special Zone. After hours of searching and analysis, Erin's previously hidden storage device was finally found, along with all evidence successfully retrieved. This information not only exposed all of Shadow Alliance's influence within the Special Zone but also revealed all lurking traitors.
Through verification of the evidence, the committee quickly made a decision to launch a large-scale crackdown operation. Those long-hidden hostile elements were systematically rooted out; Shadow Alliance's network within the Special Zone rapidly collapsed, bringing much-needed clarity back to it. However, this came too late; Erin had sustained serious injuries during this struggle and was urgently sent to a hospital within the Special Zone for treatment.
Chen Rui rushed to the hospital at once. Looking at Erin who lay unconscious, he felt both guilt and admiration in his heart. Erin had sacrificed so much for the Special Zone; undoubtedly, she was its greatest contributor in this victory.
Days later, Erin finally awoke. Chen Rui sat by her bedside and softly said, "We did it; all traitors have been eliminated. Your efforts were not in vain."
Erin smiled faintly and weakly replied, "As long as the Special Zone is safe and sound, all sacrifices are worth it."
