The Dove was captured, but Chen Rui did not let his guard down. He knew that an enemy like the Dove, who had been scheming for so long, would never easily confess, nor would he hand over the core information of his entire organization. The depths of the undercurrents were unfathomable; no one in the Special Zone could predict them.
In the interrogation room of the Special Zone Intelligence Center, the Dove was bound to a chair, a cold smile on his face as he remained indifferent to the interrogation taking place before him. Outside the interrogation room, Chen Rui and Lin Xi observed the Dove's demeanor from the monitoring room. Lin Xi furrowed his brow and said to Chen Rui, "The Dove is too calm; this is clearly abnormal. Perhaps he has already made the worst preparations and doesn't care about being caught at all."
"Indeed, his calmness indicates he has a backup plan. He might even believe we won't obtain any effective information," Chen Rui replied, his gaze stern. "But we must pry the secrets of the undercurrents from him, no matter what it takes."
Lin Xi pondered for a moment and suggested, "Perhaps we can exploit his psychological weaknesses. No matter how strong an undercurrent member is, there will always be a soft spot. We need to find out what truly matters to him."
As they spoke, the Dove suddenly spoke up in the interrogation room: "You people from the Special Zone only catch small fish; you'll never touch the big ones. The existence of the undercurrents is something you can't comprehend; their roots have long been embedded in your Special Zone's core."
Chen Rui frowned but showed no emotional response to the Dove's provocation. Instead, he calmly replied, "Is that so? If you think the undercurrents are so powerful, why do you not dare to act openly? Hiding in the shadows and making small moves against the Special Zone is merely for your own benefit."
The Dove sneered and provocatively said, "Do you think I have no way to deal with this situation just because I'm here? You have no idea that the true plan of the undercurrents—the Heart Plan—is just the beginning; the real show is yet to come."
Chen Rui listened quietly, a glimmer of cold light flashing in his eyes. He realized that while the Dove's words might be an attempt to shake their resolve, mentioning the Heart Plan made him feel uneasy.
"If that's the case, why not tell us more? You seem quite pleased to see chaos in the Special Zone," Chen Rui tried to provoke him into revealing more information.
The Dove smiled slightly, a hint of madness in his gaze: "Do you think I would easily leak secrets of the undercurrents? No, the more you want to know, the less I will tell you. However, I can reveal one thing: the undercurrents have already infiltrated your ranks and have close ties with your so-called allies. There are many among your higher-ups who are allies of the undercurrents."
This statement sent a shock through both Chen Rui and Lin Xi. They had some understanding of how deeply infiltrated the undercurrents were but had never considered it could reach such depths. If what the Dove said was true, then their enemies were not only external but also posed a danger from within.
Lin Xi's expression turned serious as he whispered, "If what he says is true, we need to reevaluate our relationships with allies in the Special Zone and assess the reliability of our intelligence sources."
Chen Rui nodded, his expression growing more resolute. He knew that while there might be exaggeration in what the Dove said, they could not afford to be careless. He made a decision to immediately investigate internal intelligence sources and screen for any potential moles.
Meanwhile, the Dove's mocking laughter continued unabated as if he were ridiculing their helplessness. His voice echoed like a ghost in the interrogation room: "You dogs of the Special Zone still dream of fighting against the undercurrents? Even if you capture me, it won't stop their tide. You're merely trying to prevent a tsunami."
Chen Rui's calm was finally shattered as he fixed a sharp gaze on the Dove and spoke coldly: "You underestimate our resolve in the Special Zone. No matter how powerful the undercurrents are, we will find their source and uproot them completely."
The Dove did not back down; instead, he wore a crazed smile: "Then I look forward to seeing how long your heroes in the Special Zone can hold out."
After several hours of standoff, no substantial information had been obtained from the interrogation room. Chen Rui realized that prying more secrets about the undercurrents from the Dove using conventional interrogation methods was nearly impossible. The Dove was clearly professionally trained with strong psychological resilience and an unwavering loyalty to his cause.
After concluding their interrogation session, Chen Rui and Lin Xi stepped out of the room to discuss strategies in their office. Lin Xi thought for a moment and suggested: "Perhaps we can start by examining Dove's social network to identify any connections he may have within the undercurrents. There must be some relationships we can leverage."
