Good intentions. Chen Rui nodded and began to review Bai Ge's information, hoping to find a breakthrough.
At that moment, the communication device suddenly rang. The Intelligence Department relayed an urgent message: a temporary base of the dark current had been discovered in a corner of the Special Zone, and someone had witnessed suspicious personnel entering and exiting.
An opportunity had arrived. Chen Rui quickly reacted, immediately organizing the Squad to prepare for a raid. He realized that this might be their chance to delve into the core of the dark current.
After a night of preparation, Chen Rui led the Squad to the target location. It was a hidden base concealed within an Abandoned Factory, its exterior dilapidated. Through reconnaissance, they discovered that numerous security measures were set up inside.
The operation commenced. Chen Rui issued orders, and the Squad members silently infiltrated the base. Lin Xi led the way, clearing obstacles for the Squad.
A few hours later, they successfully entered the factory's interior. It was eerily quiet, as if everything was waiting for their arrival. A sense of unease crept into Chen Rui’s heart, prompting him to instruct everyone to remain highly alert.
After passing through several rooms, they found themselves in a spacious hall filled with equipment, many of which were data transmission terminals operating at high speed, with screens displaying streams of encrypted data. Lin Xi immediately stepped forward to back up the information from the devices.
Just as they were searching for data, red laser beams suddenly illuminated the room, followed by alarm bells ringing. A group of masked enemies surged in from all directions, encircling them with weapons aimed at the Squad members.
Chen Rui reacted swiftly, commanding his team to disperse and seek cover as a fierce gunfight erupted in an instant. Flames flickered in the darkness as bullets flew, and the air was thick with the scent of death. Chen Rui and Lin Xi covered each other’s backs, working in perfect harmony to gradually suppress the enemy.
As the gunfight reached its peak intensity, Chen Rui caught sight of a familiar figure at one side of the hall—it was Bai Ge. A sly smile adorned his face, as if he had anticipated their arrival.
"Did you really think you could easily find our base?" Bai Ge said coldly, pulling out a small remote control device and pressing a button.
Immediately, the surrounding equipment emitted a low hum, seemingly initiating some sort of self-destruct sequence. The data on the screens began to vanish as warning lights flashed red on the terminals.
"This is bad! He’s going to destroy the evidence!" Lin Xi shouted anxiously.
"Quick! Transfer all accessible data!" Chen Rui ordered rapidly while covering Lin Xi as he uploaded what could be copied to servers in the Special Zone.
Seeing their actions, Bai Ge sneered: "Goodbye, heroes of the Special Zone. The power of the dark current far exceeds your imagination."
Before he finished speaking, he vanished into the chaos of the hall. Realizing that pursuit was no longer possible, Chen Rui urgently directed his Squad to evacuate before the explosion countdown ended.
A few moments later, a massive explosion echoed through the air as flames engulfed the entire factory, sending thick smoke billowing upward. Chen Rui stared at the burning ruins and silently vowed: no matter how deep the dark current ran, he would uproot it at all costs.
Meanwhile, Bai Ge's words continued to echo in his ears, foreshadowing an even greater storm on the horizon.
