The air around them fell silent in an instant, with only a few hurried breaths echoing in the stillness. 0

"Well done." Director Zhao stepped forward, poking the gun barrel at the corpse of the Mechanical Entity to confirm it was completely immobilized. He then looked up at Chen Rui, checking if this entity's core was related to the Beacon crystal we had discovered earlier. 0

Chen Rui crouched down and quickly dismantled the back of the Mechanical Entity, extracting a faintly glowing core fragment along with several internal components, which he packed into his equipment bag. 0

"It appears to be a type of technology." Chen Rui examined the core with a serious expression. "This should be a reconnaissance weapon used by the Dark Current to defend the perimeter of their base and collect information on intruders." 0

"Collecting information?" Lin Xi wiped the sweat from her forehead. "Did its actions just now record our combat data?" 0

"Very likely," Chen Rui nodded. "And it did emit a signal before going down." 0

"Sent to whom?" Zhou Zheng's voice was somewhat stiff. 0

"I don't know, but I can be certain that there won't be just this one reconnaissance unit here," Chen Rui stood up, his tone icy. "We have been detected." 0

The squad quickly adjusted their plans, upgrading their reconnaissance mission to a raid. They decided to enter the Core Area of the Dome Building as swiftly as possible to destroy any potential command systems. 0

As they approached the building's entrance, Lin Xi felt the whispers in her earpiece become clearer once again. 0

"What are these voices repeating?" She frowned, trying to discern the content of the murmurs. 0

"It sounds like some sort of coding," Chen Rui attempted to record parts of the audio segments for decoding analysis with a portable device. 0

Seconds later, words appeared on the device's screen: 0
"Welcome to Experimental Field Code Name: Rift Gate." 0

"Rift Gate?" Lin Xi was taken aback. "What kind of place is this?" 0

"Clearly not an ordinary laboratory," Director Zhao said gravely, quickening his pace. "We'll figure it out once we get inside." 0

Upon entering the building, they found its structure more complex than anticipated. The towering walls were covered in strange symbols and piping devices, and the air was thick with a scorching energy emanating from within. 0

"This place is more than just a laboratory," Chen Rui murmured as he examined the surrounding apparatuses. "It resembles some kind of passageway to another space." 0

"A passageway?" Lin Xi couldn't help but ask. "What are the Dark Current people researching?" 0

"I don't know, but I can assure you that these things exceed conventional physics," Chen Rui replied uneasily. "Be careful; this place may be more dangerous than we imagine." 0

They continued forward until they reached the central hall of the building, where the sight before them made everyone gasp in shock. 0

In the center of the hall stood a massive device shaped like a rotating ring, filled with violently distorted light that seemed to tear at space itself. 0

"Is that the Rift Gate?" Lin Xi stared at the terrifying apparatus in awe. What exactly did the Dark Current intend to do? 0

"No matter what, we must stop them," Director Zhao said decisively. "Tear it down." 0
