A few days later, Chen Rui finally deciphered the energy signals from the rift and extracted a strange set of codes. These codes did not resemble ordinary Energy Fluctuations; instead, they seemed more like a form of language.
"This is information!" Chen Rui exclaimed excitedly. "Before the rift closed, something definitely transmitted some kind of information out!"
"Can you decode it?" Zhou Zheng asked nervously.
Chen Rui shook his head. "It will take time. This set of codes is complex, like a multidimensional language."
"Regardless, this at least proves that there is something controlling the rift," Lin Xi said firmly. "If we can decode this information, we might find out where the Director has gone."
However, just as the decoding process was beginning, the base suddenly encountered an unexpected incident.
At three in the morning, alarm bells rang out abruptly, plunging the entire base into chaos. Lin Xi and the others woke from their sleep and rushed to the command center.
"What happened?" Lin Xi asked urgently.
"We're under external signal attack," the network security technician said, beads of sweat on his forehead. "Someone is trying to steal the data we just deciphered from the rift!"
"What?" Chen Rui exclaimed in shock. "That’s impossible! The base's network is isolated; outsiders can't intrude!"
"But their technology far surpasses ours," the technician's voice trembled. "They not only breached our network but are also trying to control our equipment."
"Disconnect all external connections!" Zhou Zheng ordered decisively.
"It's too late," the technician said despairingly. "The data has already been partially transferred."
"Trace the source!" Lin Xi shouted angrily. "We must find out who they are!"
The tracing process lasted a full two days, but the result shocked everyone: the source of the attack did not come from outside but from within the base itself.
"How is this possible?" Chen Rui stared incredulously at the data on the screen. "Could there be a mole among us?"
"It’s more likely due to the influence of the rift," Zhou Zheng said calmly. "Its Energy Fluctuation may have compromised our equipment and even affected us."
Lin Xi clenched his fists, filled with rage. "Whoever it is, we must find them!"
At that moment, an unexpected discovery completely overturned everyone's understanding.
While analyzing the transferred data, the technical team accidentally found communication records belonging to Director Zhao. These records should have disappeared after the rift closed but reappeared in a strange manner, as if conveying some kind of message to them.
"Director Zhao is alive," Lin Xi said as she looked at the flickering signals on the screen, hope reigniting in her eyes. "He’s calling for help!"
However, these signals pointed to an even more bizarre location: an abandoned laboratory that had long been forgotten.
