As the hidden threats of the Abyss Network gradually emerged, the actions of Lin Xi's team became increasingly clear: they needed to locate the mysterious area deep in the South Pacific and sever the enemy's core control system. However, the real challenge was just beginning.
"Leader Lin, we have decoded part of the information from the enemy's communication fragments." Chen Rui placed a report on the table, his expression unusually grave. The information mentioned that the Deep Sea Base was not merely a research station but a complete control hub.
Lin Xi scanned the intelligence, her brow furrowed. "So, you're saying the enemy's network control system is hidden there?"
"Exactly. The most critical point is that this data indicates they are not only manipulating the Shadow Stone but are also attempting to trigger some kind of Resonance Effect, using the Deep Sea Magnetic Field to disrupt human brainwave frequencies on a large scale."
"How extensive is this range?"
"According to estimates, if they succeed, it could affect at least half of the planet."
This answer made everyone gasp in shock. The Abyss Network was attempting to destroy humanity's autonomous consciousness. Lin Xi's voice was low and serious. "We must act immediately; we can’t delay any longer."
However, the key issue was that despite having a general understanding of the enemy's operational plans, the specific location of the Deep Sea Base remained unclear.
Meanwhile, Xiao Zhang's condition was deteriorating. His brainwave frequencies fluctuated abnormally and he began to experience mild hallucinations and uncontrollable behavior.
"Xiao Zhang, are you okay?" Zhou Zheng asked with concern.
"I'm fine." Xiao Zhang forced a smile, but in the next moment, his gaze turned vacant as he muttered to himself, "They are calling me... Abyss... Abyss..."
"Xiao Zhang!" When Lin Xi arrived, Xiao Zhang had collapsed on the ground, his limbs stiff and his pupils dilated.
"Get him to the medical area immediately!" Lin Xi ordered loudly. After watching the medical staff carry Xiao Zhang away, her unease intensified.
"Leader Lin, this is absolutely not good." Chen Rui whispered beside her. "Xiao Zhang's condition may be related to the Resonance Effect from the Deep Sea Base. If we can find the source of the resonance signal, we might be able to trace back to locate the base."
"Is there any way to track it?"
"In theory, yes. We need a Signal Amplifier, but this device can only be constructed under specific conditions."
"Prepare it as quickly as possible," Lin Xi decisively commanded. "Whatever resources are needed should be prioritized."
Three days later, a prototype of the amplifier was finally completed. However, using this device required someone to be exposed to abnormal signals for an extended period, which would greatly threaten their safety.
"I'll do it." Lin Xi stepped forward first.
"No way, Leader Lin." Chen Rui immediately objected. "If your consciousness is affected, the entire team will be incapacitated. Let me handle it; my brainwave stability is stronger than yours."
"That won't work either." Zhou Zheng interjected. "Chen Rui, you are the technical core of our team; without you, we can't function at all. I'm frontline personnel and can withstand more than you two. This task should be entrusted to me."
"Stop arguing." Lin Xi coldly interrupted them. "This is not a time for heroics; we need to choose the most suitable person. Zhou Zheng, your physical strength is unmatched in our team; however, what we need this time is exceptional mental resilience. Chen Rui, your technical skills are irreplaceable, so—"
Lin Xi paused for a moment before firmly stating: "I am the most suitable."
Faced with Lin Xi's determination, Chen Rui and Zhou Zheng were reluctant but powerless to refute her.
That night, the amplifier was activated. Lin Xi lay on the specially designed Yao Zuo Tai, the Brainwave Monitor closely fitted to her head, while the surrounding equipment emitted a low, buzzing hum.
It began. Chen Rui took a deep breath and pressed the button.
As the device operated, a series of blurred images surged into Lin Xi's mind: the deep sea, shadows, the floating Shadow Stone Device, and a massive base shrouded in darkness. These images seemed not entirely random but rather the result of some external consciousness forcibly injected into her.
Suddenly, a piercing shriek erupted, and Lin Xi jolted awake, her fingers gripping the edge of the Yao Zuo Tai tightly, her face pale. "I saw it! The coordinates are here!"
Chen Rui quickly recorded the data, and the amplifier was immediately shut down. Lin Xi slid off the Yao Zuo Tai, gasping for breath.
The base was located in a certain area of the South Pacific Mariana Trench, where they had deployed a special Shielding Device that disrupted all detection signals. She looked up at everyone with determination in her voice. "We now have a target; it's time to take the initiative."
Lin Xi's team began formulating a detailed action plan; this would be an unprecedented Deep Sea Combat. However, they were unaware that what awaited them was not only the enemy's armed defenses but also the Zhi Li Liang lurking in the depths of the ocean.
To be continued.
