Sang Yu lowered her head, feeling guilty as she scooped rice onto her plate, unable to meet Yu Guoguo's gaze.
"Teacher Sang, you're not being honest. That's not the quality one should expect from a teacher," Yu Guoguo teased. "Come on, confess! Are you secretly in a relationship? You look just like someone in love."
Sang Yu shook her head. "No, not yet."
"Oh, not yet? So that means it's about to happen? Come on, satisfy my curiosity! How did you meet that guy? How long have you known each other?"
"We met in high school, so we've known each other for many years. But after graduation, we didn't see each other again until recently."
"Wow, Teacher Sang! You fell in love so quickly after just meeting again. That's quite fast! Were you planning this all along?"
"Ugh, you're so annoying! If you keep asking me, I won't talk to you anymore."
"I won't ask anymore," Yu Guoguo said, making a zipping motion across her lips. After two years of friendship, she understood Sang Yu well enough to know that she was easily embarrassed; otherwise, she wouldn't have let her off the hook so easily.
"But if there's any news, don't forget to tell me!"
"Got it! Now let's eat."
The school bell rang, signaling the end of the day. It was Friday, which meant two days of freedom ahead, and Sang Yu felt a wave of joy wash over her.
"Sang Sang, are you free tonight? Let's go out for dinner!" Yu Guoguo asked.
"Uh, what should we eat?"
After thinking for a moment, Yu Guoguo replied, "Hot pot! When girls get together for a meal, it's always hot pot."
"Sounds good. We can stop by the supermarket afterward."
As they were discussing their plans, Sang Yu's phone buzzed. She pulled it out and saw that it was a call from Lu Jingzhi. He had been busy lately; although he sent her messages every night, they hadn't seen each other for several days.
"Hello?" she answered.
"Are you off work now?" Lu Jingzhi asked.
"Yeah, I just finished class."
"Come out now, I'm waiting at your school gate. Let's have dinner together tonight," Lu Jingzhi said.
Sang Yu glanced at the oblivious Yu Guoguo and realized she could only apologize to her friend. "Alright then."
Lu Jingzhi chuckled softly, "I'll wait for you."
After hanging up, Sang Yu felt her ears burning. Why did it seem like Lu Jingzhi was flirting with her more often? The key was that she had no resistance to this man at all.
"What's wrong?" Yu Guoguo asked, noticing Sang Yu's hesitation.
"I'm sorry, I can't have dinner with you today. I'll treat you next time to make up for it," Sang Yu said apologetically. With Lu Jingzhi already at the school gate, she had to prioritize romance over friendship.
"What's going on? Is there someone?" Yu Guoguo asked, not sensing anything unusual since they had just decided to grab a meal together.
Sang Yu shyly replied, "Well, he's here to pick me up. Waiting at the school gate."
Upon hearing this, Yu Guoguo's excitement surged as if she had been injected with adrenaline. "You mean that guy from high school?"
"Yeah," Sang Yu confirmed.
"He came to pick you up?"
"Yes, he's waiting at the school gate."
"What are you still doing here? Hurry up and go!" Yu Guoguo exclaimed, pulling Sang Yu toward the exit.
"Wait! Why are you in such a hurry? He's not here for you!" Sang Yu protested as she nearly stumbled from Yu Guoguo's enthusiasm. She couldn't understand how someone so small could have so much strength.
"Slow down? Sang Xiaoyu, if you're not proactive in love, there's something wrong with your mindset. I want to date but can't find anyone! You have no idea how envious I am of those who are in relationships!"
It wasn't that Yu Guoguo was unattractive; despite her short stature of just one meter, she had looks and a good figure. Yet so far, she hadn't met anyone who sparked her interest.
