"Is everything taken care of?" Jiang Chen asked at that moment.
Ding Yan nodded.
"Then let's go." Jiang Chen smiled slightly and strode out, with Ding Yan following closely behind. The two left without anyone stopping them, nor could they be stopped.
After Ding Yan and Jiang Chen departed, the guests also left quietly.
Ding Shaowen had been seriously injured and went straight to the hospital. Zhao Hun, feeling angry, called Yelina into the room after everyone had left and without a word, slapped her hard.
"You wretched woman, you've completely humiliated me today," Zhao Hun shouted angrily.
Yelina covered her cheek and remained silent; this was the one thing she truly felt guilty about towards Zhao Hun.
"Why didn't you tell me about your relationship with Ding Shaowen? Why?" Zhao Hun demanded loudly.
"In the past, I married you to take revenge on Ding Shaowen, but later I got pregnant and gradually let go of that desire for revenge. Now, all I want is for my son to grow up safely and soundly. So many things I don't want to get involved in; as long as you are willing, our relationship can remain the same as before. I won't pry into your affairs outside," Yelina replied.
"Heh, didn't you hear what your daughter said just now? She told me not to fool around outside, and from her tone, if I don't listen, she might kill me," Zhao Hun sneered.
"She's just a girl; how could she really kill you? She's just trying to show off her words. You don't need to take her seriously; let's end this matter here," Yelina said.
"End it here? It won't be that easy. I've been in Aodao for decades and have some standing here. Today, being humiliated by a woman like this—how could I swallow that?" Zhao Hun scoffed.
"What do you want to do?" Yelina asked in shock.
"You don't need to worry about that; don't worry, I won't kill her," Zhao Hun replied coldly.
"It was my fault towards Nian'er that made her act this way tonight. If you want to blame someone, blame me. If you're still not satisfied, feel free to hit me; I'm willing," Yelina pleaded.
"Next Wednesday, Liu Jiyue from the Liu Family on Hong Kong Island is getting engaged, and you'll accompany me there. So I won't hit you again. But one thing I must tell you is that since you've chosen to stay, your heart must be entirely focused on our son; as for your daughter, just pretend she doesn't exist," Zhao Hun said coldly before leaving directly.
Yelina wanted to chase after him but was stopped by the housekeeper.
At that moment, Jiang Chen and Ding Yan had already returned to the hotel. Unable to sleep, Ding Yan went to Jiang Chen's room and pulled him to drink together.
They sat by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the night view of Aodao while drinking and chatting. Ding Yan's alcohol tolerance wasn't very high; after just a few glasses of whiskey, her face turned flushed as she rambled on while Jiang Chen listened quietly. After venting her feelings, Ding Yan felt somewhat better.
"Mr. Jiang, did I do the right thing today?" Ding Yan asked with blurry eyes as she looked at Jiang Chen.
"You just said that as long as it's your own choice, you'll see it through, so you don't need to ask me for validation. I can't give you a definitive answer; your past experiences are your own obsessions. Helping you find your mother is meant to help you let go of those obsessions. Since you've chosen to follow me, it shows you're someone worth nurturing. I hope that after tonight, I'll see a new you emerging from the past's mire," Jiang Chen said.
