"You know what? You better not think about playing any tricks on me, or I swear I'll make you wish you were dead!"
Chen Ming threatened me, and I couldn't help but laugh. Yes, I laughed deliberately to create the illusion that I was uncontrollable, all to cooperate with Zheng Yu's plan.

I said this with a smile, knowing that Chen Ming didn't genuinely want to kill me yet. By giving him an easy way out, he would go along with it.
"You know what? I'm waiting for your news!"
Chen Ming said angrily before hanging up. I tossed the phone aside and continued eating my breakfast. Threaten me? Ha! Just wait and see.
After finishing breakfast, I headed to the Security Company. Business had been booming recently; it was truly thriving. However, both Zheng Yu and I were quite busy, so expanding our client base would have to wait for now.
I spent the morning at the office, and during lunch, Ning Chuan called me.
"Hey, Xiang Dong! I heard you're short on cash? Come over; I'll give you some."
When Ning Chuan called, I naturally agreed. He told me to meet him at a restaurant in Kyoto—not Man Han Lou—one that wasn't very high-end. He also warned me to be careful and not let Chen Ming know I was meeting him.
Of course, I assured him it wouldn't be a problem. I drove to the restaurant and found Ning Chuan's private room where it was just the two of us.

Ning Chuan greeted me warmly. I understood his enthusiasm; he wasn't foolish either. Like Chen Ming, he wanted me to act as an undercover agent against Chen Ming and find an opportunity to harm him.
"Alright, Brother Ning, no need to be so polite."
I replied cheerfully as I took a seat. After exchanging some trivial pleasantries, Ning Chuan pulled out a check and handed it to me.
"Here! If you need anything, just take it!"
Ning Chuan said generously. Not wanting to pretend otherwise, I thanked him and accepted the check. Looking at the string of zeros on it made my heart race a little! This piece of paper was worth ten million! Enough for an ordinary family to live comfortably for a lifetime!
"Thank you, Brother Ning! You're truly generous; your actions are commendable!"
I happily tucked the check into my pocket, feeling elated and satisfied.

Ning Chuan chuckled and said, "I’m also just having a laugh. The money has been given, and it’s time to discuss the task."
Ning Duo replied, "If you say I can do it, I certainly won’t refuse." I smiled and thought to myself that what Ning Chuan wanted was simply to use me against Chen Ming. Although Ning Chuan seemed friendly with me now, if I failed to complete his task, once he found me useless, he would take back his ten million along with my life.
Moreover, even if I succeeded, Ning Chuan might not keep me around, and neither would Chen Ming. Why did I have this judgment? History shows that opportunistic and cunning people never end well. Ning Chuan looked at me with a grin and said, "Two old foxes like us don’t have any tricks left; it’s all up to me now, right?"
"That works too," I replied. "Yes, yes," Ning Duo said. "But even so, this kind of situation isn’t something that can be resolved quickly; I will need some time."
I smiled and said that of course Ning Chuan nodded in agreement and then cheerfully proposed a timeline: "How about two months? If you can get this done in two months, I’ll give you an additional five million as a reward! What do you think?"
"Haha! Then thank you in advance, Ning Duo!"
I laughed and accepted Ning Chuan's offer. Two months? The time limit he set didn’t really matter; if my plan failed, I’d be dead in a month anyway. If it succeeded, he would be the one dead.
Afterward, as Ning Chuan and I chatted while eating, he shared quite a bit about Chen Ming with me; however, none of it was particularly useful. Right now, all I wanted was to finish my meal quickly so I could collect that ten million. After all, having cash in my own pocket felt much more secure.

Cao Minghui pushed the door open and came in, shouting at me. During this short time, I had gained the upper hand, and Cao Minghui had quieted down, no longer provoking me. He mentioned that his brother had started a company and asked if I was collecting protection fees. I had no idea about that.

I looked at Cao Minghui in confusion and asked him. Back then, he didn’t want to confront me because he was afraid of offending Liu Haoran. Now that things were more settled, did he really want to test me? I had two powerful backers! That would scare him to death!

After Cao Minghui left, I dialed Zheng Yu’s number to inquire about the progress of our situation. Zheng Yu informed me that Chen Ming had told him this morning to observe whether I was genuinely trying to deal with Ning Chuan. I knew Chen Ming would definitely have something to say to Zheng Yu; after all, when Chen Ming called me earlier this morning, it must have made him a bit anxious, prompting him to send Zheng Yu to investigate.
I responded, “Okay, don’t answer him just yet. Find a way to leak the news about your alliance with Chen Ming to Xiao Dao and make sure Xiao Dao feels favored by you. After you do that, give me a call.”
