The cold wind whistled through the dilapidated temple, much to Lin Qingyue's displeasure.
"Are you trying to deceive me?"
When the Lin Family Army kicked the door open and entered the room, they found it completely empty.
Zhuo Zishi quickly waved his hands, "How could I deceive you? There is a secret passage here. If you could have everyone else step back and leave just the two of us, I will tell you."
Zhuo Zishi's insistence on being alone with her only heightened Lin Qingyue's wariness. She narrowed her eyes, "What exactly do you want to do?"
Zhuo Zishi raised his hands high, indicating that he meant no harm. "I don't want this information to get out. Although General Lin trusts your Lin Family Army, I still have my reservations. Is that unreasonable?"
Lin Qingyue rolled her eyes. Confident in her own abilities, she signaled for the Lin Family Army to step back, but gave them a look that said they should rush in at the slightest hint of trouble.
Once only Lin Qingyue and Zhuo Zishi remained in the room, Zhuo Zishi smiled and twisted a stone on the wall. Soon after, a stone door appeared before them.
"The goods are inside. General Lin, please follow me to take a look."
Lin Qingyue was skeptical but took a few steps forward, catching a faint whiff of hay.
Zhuo Zishi's eyes sparkled as he assured her, "I would never deceive you. What benefit would I gain from lying to someone of my status?"
The scent ahead did indeed ease Lin Qingyue's tension. It wasn't until she saw three bags of grain that she realized there was something here after all!
She approached and touched the bags, but suddenly a strong odor wafted from somewhere, causing her to feel weak and collapse to the ground.
Seeing her fall, Zhuo Zishi quickly pulled out a template from his pocket and pressed it against the badge on Lin Qingyue's waist to make an imprint. With this template, Jiang Han would be able to create a badge nearly identical to hers.
After hurriedly completing this task, he returned the badge and stealthily slipped away through another hidden passage while no one was watching.
Langya Prince was already furious about Feng Yi's absence and felt an overwhelming urge to stab Su Qianxue. Unfortunately, he couldn't act on his anger; he needed to conserve his strength for now.
When someone rushed in with news—specifically from Jiang Han’s side—his fury intensified even more. He waved his hand at Che Chengyun and said, "You handle this."
Che Chengyun nodded in response.
When he arrived in front of Yan Dong, the expression on his face was far from pleasant.
What business did this lady have coming here?
Yan Dong was not one to hold back: "I wonder when you plan to repay the money you owe our master? The deadline is upon us!"
He had just been snubbed by the Langya Prince, and now he had to deal with this debt. It put him in a foul mood.
In fact, he had no intention of repaying that money at all. Especially after learning that Jiang Han was backed by the Lingnan King; returning the money to Jiang Han would be like handing it over to the Lingnan King himself. He would never do that!
"I don't understand what you're talking about. If you say that I, the Heir Apparent, owe money, then surely you have some evidence?"
"Bring out the IOU."
Che Chengyun's expression showed that even if Yan Dong had no written proof, the other party would still deny it.
"Are you saying your word isn't worth anything? Does the esteemed Langya Wangfu engage in such underhanded dealings?"
Che Chengyun scoffed: "You're just too foolish!"
"Get out!"
Those two words infuriated Yan Dong.
When Yan Dong arrived at the Jiang family's shop, Su Qianxue was already there.
She spoke in a huff: "Master, how arrogant is the Langya Wangfu? They have no intention of repaying at all."
Jiang Han felt that from the very beginning, the Langya Wangfu would not repay this debt, so he hadn’t focused his thoughts on them. As for why they agreed to compensate on that day, it seemed they had other motives. Now it appeared that those motives had likely been resolved.
He raised an eyebrow: "They probably got angry in court and are even less willing to part with a single coin now."
Speaking of this, Su Qianxue was also furious. "I've never seen anyone disregard the Empress like this; we can confirm now that the Langya Prince has ulterior motives and likely has bigger plans behind the scenes."
Jiang Han nodded in agreement.
The Langya Prince dared to commit murder in court because he was confident that Su Qianxue wouldn’t take action against him. The audacity of it left Jiang Han genuinely shocked.
"What does Your Majesty plan to do next?"
Now that they had confirmed the other party's intentions, Your Majesty couldn’t just sit idly by, could she?
Su Qianxue sighed: "Your Majesty is also troubled by this."
Jiang Han thought for a moment: "Shouldn't we eliminate one of his right-hand men?"
If we can remove one of his arms, then let's take off another one. With two arms gone, he still has two legs left. Moreover, if Your Majesty were to chop off another arm next, the Langya Prince would surely become furious and resort to desperate measures.
However, before severing his other arm, it would be wise to find a way for Your Majesty to win over some of the ministers. Su Qianxue looked at Jiang Han with bright eyes. "What Shopkeeper Jiang said is absolutely right; let's start with this compensation."
Jiang Han sensed that Su Qianxue seemed to care about her compensation. What was on Miss Su's mind? Without hesitation, Su Qianxue revealed her plan. "We should report this to the Xingbu. With my identity as an Imperial Merchant, the Xingbu won't turn a blind eye."
"I also plan to spread some rumors, saying that the Langya Wangfu vandalized the innocent Jiang Family Shop and ultimately refused to pay. What do you think?" Jiang Han pondered for a moment; this idea was indeed feasible, but some commoners might not buy it.
They had been bullied by the people from Langya Wangfu for too long. Getting them to stand up now and curse at Langya Wangfu wouldn't harm it at all. Besides, the Langya Prince didn't regard these commoners at all.
An idea slowly took shape in Jiang Han's mind. "I have a suggestion that could help Your Majesty win over the people's hearts! It's something that can stab at the Langya Prince while also rallying support for Your Majesty."
You see, removing the Langya Prince is one thing, but it's another for the people to believe that Your Majesty is inactive. The people's support is crucial for both Da Zhou and for Your Majesty!
Su Qianxue didn't expect Jiang Han to consider this aspect as well. She leaned closer to him, causing them to be extremely close together. Jiang Han's breath occasionally brushed against her neck, igniting a warmth in her heart. She barely managed to suppress her rising heat and listened intently to Jiang Han's words.
" Shopkeeper Jiang is truly resourceful; I'll get right on it!"
