Luo Yuhua pressed her forehead. She truly did not expect one wave to follow another. It seemed she could no longer remain neutral between His Majesty and the Langya Prince.
Her subordinates looked at the imperial edict before them, their hearts filled with trepidation. "My lord, are we really going to investigate the Langya Prince?"
Luo Yuhua sighed, "Let’s first check out Jiang Han’s shop. It might not be anything serious." If the Langya Prince was reasonable and compensated for the losses, this matter could be settled. But if he refused to pay, that would be a different story altogether! They certainly couldn’t just arrest the Langya Prince, especially since they still lacked sufficient evidence.
In the bustling market, Jiang Han found a storyteller. The storyteller pretended to hold a book in hand. Jiang Han handed him some silver coins. "Once this is done, I’ll give you double!"
The man weighed the coins in his hand and smiled broadly. "Don’t worry; I’ll make sure this gets spread around."
The capital had long suffered under the Langya Prince's rule. Would this incident truly allow Your Majesty to deal with him? Jiang Han patted the storyteller's shoulder with a grin. "Absolutely! Haven't you heard that all of the Langya Prince's capable aides have been dealt with by Your Majesty?"
The storyteller chuckled, "Rumors are just that—rumors. But if Shopkeeper Jiang says it, then it must be true. Rest assured, I’ll make sure everyone in the capital knows about this!"
With that, he took his pouch of coins and headed down a narrow alley.
Yan Dong followed behind Jiang Han, asking, "Is this person reliable? I’ve heard that these storytellers do things for money; today they work for you, tomorrow they might work for the Langya Prince."
Jiang Han explained with a smile, "He won’t do that. His sister was taken away by someone from the Langya Wangfu and soon after died in their well. He had nowhere to turn for help and eventually had no choice but to become a storyteller."
Looking around at the ordinary people who had suffered under the Langya Prince’s tyranny, Jiang Han added, "We can rally these people together."
Yan Dong seemed puzzled. "But they’re just ordinary folks. Even if we rally them, what can we do?"
When they returned to the shop, Zhuo Zishi was secretly waiting for Jiang Han inside.
Shopkeeper Jiang, I have done everything you asked of me. Look, my mother—
Jiang Han took the template from his hands. "Once this poisoning incident is settled, I will naturally send both of you away from here."
Jiang Han kept his word; Zhuo Mu had already been placed in a very safe location by him.
Zhuo Zishi's eyes brimmed with tears as he thought that if it weren't for his mother's illness, he would never have chosen to frame Jiang Han. With that thought in mind, he knelt before Jiang Han.
He was grateful for Shopkeeper Jiang's life-saving grace; without Shopkeeper Jiang, General Lin would surely not let him off the hook.
Jiang Han merely nodded at him. "Get up. We need to act quickly; once Lin Qingyue wakes up, she won't let you off easily."
In the Lin Manor, the supplies were indeed real, but why did Zhuo Zishi run away?
After Lin Qingyue woke up, she ordered three bags of supplies to be moved back. As for why there were only three bags, she couldn't explain it; perhaps Zhuo Zishi had deceived her.
Lin Father shared the same opinion: "Could it be that Zhuo Zishi has already started helping Jiang Han?"
Lin Qingyue frowned. "If he were helping Jiang Han, it would be to gain something from me. However, after being awakened by the Lin Family Army, I am not missing anything."
Could it be that he sensed my murderous intent towards him and wanted to escape?
Lin Father thought for a moment. "That is possible, but this idea must have come from Jiang Han."
After all, Zhuo Zishi couldn't possibly acquire three bags of supplies on his own.
Lin Qingyue still had her doubts. "Is it really just these three bags in the temple? What if after we bring these three bags back, another three appear? I investigated carefully; this secret passage seems a bit strange."
Lin Father hadn't seen the so-called secret passage. However, if they could retrieve items from within, it wouldn't hurt to check it out regularly. What if there were unexpected surprises?
Lin Qingyue shared the same sentiment; they absolutely could not let anyone discover this dilapidated temple!
After some contemplation, she made up her mind: "Let's go check out Jiang Han's shop and see if he's playing tricks."
Since she wasn't missing anything on her person, she didn't carry any important letters or various items when she went out. The only thing worth their effort was probably the Lin Family Army badge hanging at her waist.
But that badge was securely attached to her.
Yan Dong and the others finally tidied up the shop.
During this time of closure, it had become quite peaceful. Unfortunately, today two groups of people arrived, and these two groups were bound to make Jiang Han uneasy.
Luo Yuhua wore a serious expression, flanked by several members of the Guard Army.
"What is it?" Jiang Han asked, putting down the book in his hands and stepping forward. "I wonder what business this esteemed person has?"
Luo Yuhua produced a badge from the Ministry of Justice. "I am the Minister of Justice. I have heard that you have some unresolved grievances with Langya Wangfu?"
Jiang Han smiled; the visit was indeed swift. "That's correct. Since Su Qianxue mentioned that Luo Yuhua could be trusted, I have nothing to hide." He extended half of his food offering. "This is the poisoned food that Langya Wangfu sent to them."
Poisoning Langya Wangfu was not only for their health but also for his own reputation. He urged the Minister of Justice to investigate thoroughly.
Luo Yuhua's subordinate took the item from Jiang Han's hands. "Aside from you, who else can testify?"
Jiang Han pointed to his neighbors with a smile. "Rest assured, they all know about it, including everyone in the shop. Of course, the people from Langya Wangfu can testify as well, if they choose to admit it."
"They certainly won't admit it," Luo Yuhua thought to herself, though she maintained her serious demeanor.
"The evidence has been received; do you have anything else to say?"
Jiang Han replied, "No, I am willing to accept any investigation from the Minister of Justice at any time." There was no hint of fear on his face. While Luo Yuhua appreciated his boldness, she felt it was an unnecessary trouble for herself.
"Remember this, but if you dare to frame Langya Wangfu, let’s just say the consequences won't be pleasant," she warned before turning to her subordinates. "Let's go!"
The group left in a grand procession, only to be followed closely by another group rushing in like bandits.
"Jiang Han! How could you betray me!"
